I love these comments. Same thing every year. Boring, same phone as last year, hard pass, etc, etc. Uh, this is just Apple being Apple. Every year brings iterative, minor changes. In the end, all the naysayers end up upgrading anyway. I'd say this upgrade is no worse or better than previous ones. Wifi 7, larger screen, camera button, faster charging, better ultra wide camera, faster cpu. Pretty solid upgrade I'd say.
Not every update can be revolutionary but I disagree we should only expect minor iterations every year. The 5X camera was a HUGE improvement and I use it all the time. It's the reason I finally upgraded from a 5-year-old iPhone X (and also, the reason I waited that long to upgrade). Other past innovations also drove me to upgrade, like GPS, video recording (remember when it couldn't do that?), and OLED screen. The point being that yes, it's overall a better phone than last year's and that might make it worth buying, but it probably does not make it worth upgrading from any recent phone.

Curious if they scrapped FineWoven cases (and what they replaced them with).
No FineWoven cases for iPhone 16 series. FineWoven cases for iPhone 15 series removed too. Everything is silicone or clear hard plastic from Apple.

Only thing FineWoven is the MagSafe iPhone wallet.

Ditching
- 3x in hardware 💩
- 5x is too close, 2x is sensor crop

So iPhone 17 Pro max will get real zoom in hardware alas iPhone 18 Pro will have that in the non Max 💤

Looking forward to moving back down to the regular sized Pro from the Pro Max, as well as finally having 4K slo-mo. Will they also add faster 1080p slo-mo? Would love to see 480fps.

Otherwise not much else to see here. I mean it's cool to have a dedicated camera button so I don't need that for the action button, and I think the other features of the button could be kinda useful, but it just seems like yet another kinda gimmicky feature? And this is coming from someone who has worked as a professional photographer.

Even in their press photo, below, it looks kinda awkward to hold and use at the same time, so the ergonomics don't seem great compared to a real camera. I wish they could've positioned it more to the right, but maybe that caused more accidental triggers?

how come my pics never look like the ones they present??!

Off camera lights and modifiers make a massive difference to any photograph no matter what camera you use.
Is the "new" iPhone 16 Pro Max a joke or what? I'm a 11 Pro Max owner expecting this moment to switch to the 16 Pro Max but this is a shame event and iPhones.

If you could afford it why not upgrade? There is a massive difference between a 15Pro Max and 11
I honestly dont get how you guys degrade your battery so quickly! My 12pro is still on 86% and i use my phone like a LOT!
Do you guys turn off battery optimization features or something? Or did the battery quality TANK on some model after iPhone 12 and onwards?

Maybe 14 and 15 are wearing out faster than prior generations? Here is my 15PM.

Whoever made that disgusting diarrhea-colored render for the copper iPhone 16 Pro should be ashamed. The actual color looks great!
Whenever I see stuff like that, I do wonder if it's a sting operation from Apple Security to catch leakers.

Next Year is the year && hopefully in 2026.
Next Year iPhone 17, iPhone 17 air , iPhone 17 pro & hopefully iPhone 17 ultra.

2026 iPhone 18 Flip.
I, personally, don't like the Pro and Non-Pro model separations they started a few years ago.

I think that the new iPhones should all have the same chip, not "here's what's new for what we used to charge for these, but now it'll have the same chip as last year's; and, this gives us the chance to charge more for actual, new models."

Saying they're for Pros just adds to the marketing scam of being able to charge less for, essentially, last-year's Pro models at what used to be the "new model" price. Before this change, they would literally just sell last-year's iPhones for a few hundred less (like $499).

I think they should have stuck to their lower prices across the board, had (1) model with the new specs/features, and with different screen sizes/battery sizes-only.

This whole Pro and Non-Pro thing just seems scammy to me.

I wonder if they're coming up against hard engineering limits now..

No solid state buttons, no return of Touch ID (under-display or on the power button), no under-display Face ID or front camera. No MicroLED for the Apple Watch screen, blood pressure and glucose sensing are years away..

Maybe they'll end up converting every side button to the "capture" style, a volume strip with haptic feedback and touch sensitivity, another for power/brightness.

I'm sure they're experimenting with eye tracking, hand tracking, and face tracking, but they need a groundbreaking UI to make it worth the effort. Foldables are coming, too, but they're waiting on perfection. And unless they design creative software uses, they'll only be playing catch-up.

I'll be either going naked or buying a cheap beater case until Bullstrap comes out with their new leather cases.

I keep a lot of media on my phone and was hoping for that rumored 2 terabyte hard drive, but that's not an option on the Apple website. I don't need a better camera, because I use actual cameras. I'll stick with my 13. Upgrades since then have been cosmetic.

The iPad power button has built in Touch ID, I don't understand why that hasn't come to either Apple Watch yet. It's low-hanging fruit.

I think Vision Pro and Apple Innovation took over Apple. The entire presentation was sort of boring. My takeaway: I'm all good with my current AirPods Max and AirPods Pro 2, I'm all good with my Apple Watch S9, and I'm going to replace my iPhone 15 Pro Max with a 16 Plus, which has all the features I need in better colors and lower price point. I'm out of the country for the next week, and for once, I'm not worried about the missing the pre-order.

So do both models get the IMX-903?
No. I don’t know if it even has a new sensor. Pixel size remains the same so definitely no IMX903. The tech specs don’t even name a second gen sensor on the Apple web site. It’s even still Smart HDR 5. They improved the interface to the sensor, I guess to make 120 FPS 4K possible. That also reduces the shutter lag probably as promoted. And boom, that’s the second gen sensor.
