Well in my country, the carrier will only issue an eSIM for like 10 euros, which is ******** because you can't simply transfer it over when you need your phone repaired. You need to pay the fee and get a new ESIM, which is super annoying, so many people rather stick to the plastic SIM card and they just put it in the replacement phone and it works.
Hm. Literally never had my phone handed in for repair, so I guess I never considered that. I’ll take the benefits over the risk of having to shell out 10 Euro.

I’m curious, why is physical sim so important to some people? Carriers that don’t support e-sim?

Just not that keen on losing a physical item here. Like when I took my iPhone for a new battery and it was easy to put my physical sim in an old phone whilst it was being done. Doubt it would be that easy with an esim.

It may be a good idea to do a hands on test at the Apple Store to better determine if a single speaker is a bust for you. One thing I failed to consider in my previous post was the sound of FaceTime and phone calls, which can also be a factor depending on surroundings.

If the single speaker ends up bothering me, I will make use of my return window and get that lovely orange pro I have been hoping for. lol

Excellent points there as I use my phone speaker a lot in the house. Not outside mind you.

I’m no kid believe me but I use my iPhone 13 Pro’s speakers a lot for listening to podcasts.
The fact that it’s mono won’t matter, but the sound quality will likely be lower. For me personally, I don’t use the. Hilt in speakers for anything where I remotely care about sound quality, so a non-issue.

Fair, thanks. Only did that once, was without phone for 45 minutes…

I know that the camera bump has to be there because of hardware limitations (focal length, sensor size). But it just looks silly.
If they went with a simpler camera module, it doesn’t need to be this big. It would be a day 1 buy for me with a simple camera, say iPhone 6 era.

I’d like to see actual photos and some real-life battery tests. I also want to check it out in person, but it does look pretty intriguing. I have the 16 Pro Max and was considering upgrading to the 17 Pro Max, but I might go for the Air instead, if the camera doesn’t disappoint and the battery life is decent. 2 big ifs.

USB 2 speed with a USB-C connector is a surprise, but if you're upgrading from an iPhone with a Lightning connector, you won't notice a difference. (Lightning and USB 2 are both rated at 480 Mb/sec transfer rates.)

It’s thin but with a huge camera butt err bump. It’s ugly but some like big butts and they cannot lie!

Im impressed. I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max but would love a lightweight iPhone. Might convince my wife to upgrade.

It’s insane that the whole computing brains of the Air, including front & rear cameras are all in this new camera bar or ‘plateau’

Hmm this is one cut down spec wise phone. One speaker, one camera, starts from £999 in the UK. Just £100 less then the Pro. Colours could be better too IMO. Still it will probably sell like hot cakes and then lots of people will complain about the battery life lol.

MR is already covered over with Pro series people complaining about the Air, as if they were going to buy it in the first place. lol No matter what, people complain about the most obtuse reasons on here. It is rather absurd the amount of neurosis that is at play around here.
