And I'll trade up to the 5 when it comes out, assuming it works for VZ, no worries. My company reimburses for all phones/phone plans, so this is the move, no doubt. You fail to understand there are many thousands of us that are in the same boat. That is - the cost of the phone is no object, either because we have money, or our companies do, or both. And yes, we've waited, limping along with old Crackberries and who knows what else, and have been salivating just to have the iPhone4's capabilities. And no, we didn't fall for the Droid and other newer Crackberry options that came along, we wanted the iPhone.

So yeah, there is pent up demand you might say, WAY more than anyone on this forum can fully comprehend (except me of course :)

Can you hear the jealousy of AT&T customers? I sure can. The VZ network will once again shine as the absolute BEST in the US, if you want to actually make a phone call that is, because your business depends on it for instance. Please add:

post the count down every 15 minutes
need to know at what hour people get up
and how their connection was

Did they get onto the website easily?
People should post their inner feelings

AFTER they order
WHEN they get a notice that their vphone has shipped
Attach bank statement to verify being an iphone owner
WHAT They felt when they unpacked it
What did it feel like to make the FIRST call

Once the first call was dropped
Once the phone was dropped

Did they buy Verizon car accessories or open market
Protective case issues

Sooo much more to report.

Let Verizon folks have their moment. Some of us need to be on Verizon for coverage reasons. AT&T doesn't even have a store in most of the more rural parts of the country. This opens up a lot of people to the opportunity of having an apple product. So be happy for apple. Also, as stated earlier, many of us have been getting by on crappy phones. Mine doesn't even work half of the time and I have put up with it for a full year. So yeah I want to get the iPhone right away to have a working and good phone. Not all of us need or can afford to upgrade to the latest and greatest thing every time it comes out. We are satisfied with having a good working phone for two years and then upgrading at that point to the newest thing. If you already have an iPhone great! If you are getting one on Verizon great! If you are tired of hearing about the Verizon iPhone stop reading about it. But don't complain because whenever the new iPhone 5, or whatever it is going to be called, is announced and coming out the same amount of updates and rumors and such will be made for that product. And I will still be obsessively keeping up with it, just as I do for all Apple products whether or not I am going to buy it.
 
Hmm, so if you're an existing Verizon customer with an existing family plan and an existing non-smartphone that is currently eligible for upgrade, would ordering from the Apple store handle that scenario?
 
where's "That Guy" that kept saying the iPhone would never come to Verizon?

I am wondering the same thing too. I am going to call Apple and ask. I'll post here if I hear anything useful.

After getting off the phone with Apple just now, the person told me VZ Family Share Plan subscribers will NOT be able to pre-order on Apple's website or order via phone. You must go to an Apple or Verizon store to do so. She also said that all Apple and Verizon stores will open at 3 am.

To be clear, you mean all *online* Apple or Verizon stores, not the physical stores at 3am...you need to be clearer with your language. And by "all", you mean "both". There are 2. apple.com and verizonwireless.com

Did she say that you would not be able to do it via Verizon's website as well? That would be a major problem for me since I'm actually going to be doing it for my dad (I have access to his VZ account).
 
Any idea if Apple will honor the Verizon New Every 2 discount for customers that are eligible? It ends up being an extra $100 off.

Verizon's website should not be an issue for Family plans. I confirmed this with a customer service representative on Monday. You cannot add new lines online and purchase an iPhone, but you can upgrade your handset to an iPhone for existing lines.

Because the iP5 rumors have been minimal so far, I have a hard time believing it will be out soon. I can be wrong but with Apple about to release the White version, I don't see them cutting their own nose off so to speak to move to the next gen. so to speak. I think the real iPhone refresh will be 2012 with LTE becoming more popular and in larger areas. Just a thought. I will be up early pre ordering (if I can even sleep ha ha).

Plus, I don't know if I would want the iP5 until it hits public anyway. Let them work the kinks out and then get the refresh model the following yr when my contract is up.... Not saying, just saying. Happy Verizon iPhone 4 Eve!:apple:

Ok, I hope you're right. My dad is long time VZ customer who already has a pretty low opinion of their customer service. I convinced him a month ago to give up his old PDA and plan to move to smartphone since Verizon was about to get the iPhone and they had a $15 data plan that would suit his needs. They have since yanked the $15 plan which nearly caused my dad to change his mind, but he decided to go ahead after I told him that tiered plans would almost certainly come back in a month or two. But if VZ screws things up and charges anything more than the phone cost ($199) plus the data plan ($30/mo), that will probably be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

So are you saying if I have a smartphone as the primary line on a family plan that I can't order? Or is this for non-smartphones only on family plans?

Also, is there a difference between ordering from Verizon vs. Apple? Is one better than the other? Particularly to have the item left in my door since I'll be working.

Is that right? I wanted to upgrade my wife's phone and then add a new line to port my ATT number back over to Verizon. I won't be able to do this online tonight?

Probably because most of us feel that the iPhone 4 is as good as we need and don't see anything major that Apple can add this June.

I for one will take my iPhone 4 now and then use another upgrade in June 2012 for the iPhone 6 or whatever.

You should be able to upgrade your wife's phone online, but as the customer service rep told me, if you do not have an existing Verizon number, you will not be able to pre-order the iPhone on Feb 3rd. For those that want to add a line, they have to wait until Feb. 10th (or I guess the 9th now). Just relaying what I was told.............
