i just love the lies.... if everyone who has att had 4 dropped calls a day, as you say yg17, i doubt they would still be around retaining customers...

do you work for t-mobile or something?? lol you sound like the idiots at the kiosks who say nothing but lies that their manager told them to try and get customers

Sprint Sero:
evdo unlimited
500 minutes
7 pm nights/weekends
free unlimited texts
$30

And just about anyone can get on this plan.

$99 for unlimited everything, anything...vs $220?

I'll pass. If you're targeting consumers with a phone like this, why have price plans that priced at the enterprise level?

(standard cingular is $40 + $20 for medianet).
I see no discounts.

Exactly my point. Why don't people think outside the box? It's 20$ plus the regular crappy voice packages! Why are people already thinking this as a discount?!? Beats me! There are a whole lot of providers now providing promotional plans like t-mobile for 1000 mins which make way more sense!

i was until I saw that

Don't worry, I'll be back Friday saying "I told you so" in all of the "What the hell? I just switched to ATT and dropped 4 calls tonight" threads.

You do know, not everyone lives in same place as you right? Have you tested AT&T network? I mean, more then "Oh, I don't get service in this one city, they suck!"

AT&T has been nothing but a joy for me...please stop the FUD

No, but it can be done with additional 4.99.

Yeah...go ahead and waste that $5. Mobile-to-mobile on T-Mo means you can talk to yg17, myself, and around 10 other people in the US. It's worthless.

paying 10 bucks additional I can talk to any 5 numbers for free!

Last time I checked, the myFaves 1000 plan was actually $59.99. That's $20 more than the T-Mo's Get More 1000 plan (which is $39.99). And once you add the cost of a data plan and text plan into it, you really should be comparing that plan with the features of AT&T's $79.99 iPhone plan.

Is Sero just for employees?

I went here:

http://nextelonline.nextel.com/NASApp/onlinestore/en/Action/SubmitRegionAction

(warning runs like crud in safari.)

and it looks like

$39.99 450 minutes

data:

(i think)

$39.99 for 40 MB
$59.99 unlimited.

?????

200 text message.... What a fricken joke....

I might have to stay away from the phone now. The plans are a deal breaker and to have to spend 80 a month for unlimited text and only 450 minutes seems a little ridiculous...

I've been looking for the family plans. Where did you find them?

http://www.apple.com/iphone/easysetup/rateplans.html

If you look at the table, you'll notice that there are two other tabs.

I was worried at first that it would be $29.99 for the extra iPhone line PLUS $20 for the data plan, but I read it wrong. The $29.99 is all encompassing. I don't know if this is a great deal (as I've never had a data plan before), but it is DEFINITELY much better than I was expecting.

Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Messaging $5

It's only $5 bucks for unlimited text msgs. It's been that way for like 5 yrs now or more
I wonder if AT&T will allow iPhone plans to add Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Messaging for $5... The FAQ doesn't say much, but does anyone have any scoop on this???

With lots of people migrating to AT&T (via iPhone or other equipment), and AT&T having the largest wireless (and global) calling community, Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Calling and Messaging (and perhaps an AT&T Unity Plan) would be most desired.

$60 for iPhone 450 and an additional $5 for Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Messaging is my desired plan.

WOOHOO!! Thanks for that info.Just did it and got my BAN number.although I wish they would use a different acronym than "BAN" :)

Good-Bye Qwest.

To let some people know. The lady I spoke with had NO clue about the iPhone plans.

I just did the same thing -- to the original poster, thanks for that!

Took a little longer than expected. The guy told me that it would be a long wait "because we're hammering the system today with all these iPhone callers." The rep I spoke to talked like they're being inundated with calls. Bodes well for Friday...

Maybe this is a dumb question, but I have a Sprint family plan and we're paying $115/mo for 800 minutes total shared between 5 phones. (No data, no text) Just voice.

How much would it cost for an AT&T family plan of 5 phones, where at least 1 is an iPhone? I want to know how much more my family would need to spend to get an iPhone. Thanks a lot!

By the way, these iPhone plans are a bit cheaper than I expected, which is why I ask.

Sign Up Early To Keep $5 Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Messaging

So I can walk into the AT&T store today, sign up for a free phone (say Nokia 6126), sell it on Ebay for $150 (the going rate) and replace it with an iPhone on Friday?

I thought there was a certain amount of time that had to pass before you could sign a new 2 year contract with AT&T?
I wonder if I can do this so that I can retain the $5 Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Messaging option.

I happy for all of you guys but i don't think this is all that good for me.

I'm on a family plan of $100 a month for 2100 minutes, 9.99 per line and 14.99 a month for 400 sms and 5mb data. With the iPhone's plan, I have to pay $30 extra to have 1500 SMS which I wouldn't come close to using. Last month I did 284 text and average about 300-350. Is there another why that i'm not seeing?

If I can do the iPhone plan with 400 sms, i would be so happy. :)

Either way i'm excited about my iPhone :D

Got a Question . . . Need Answers please

I'm pretty sure I'm ok, but just wanna be sure. I am in a family talk plan with 4 other phones. My bill runs around $200 - $220 a month. :)eek: ) Anyway, I am going to be keeping my current plan and just adding the data plan to my line. Is there any thing else I should know, or is this sounding like a good plan. I mean, I don't wanna be suprised on my first bill when I see another $100 on it. That would make me :( . Thanks for the help. :apple: ROCKS!

I have a cingular (AT&T now) family plan. 4 lines, unlimited nights / weekends / cell-to-cell. 750 shared minutes with rollover (we have over 5700 rollover minutes accumulated :p )

After taxes and fees, my bill is $120. To add another line would be $9.99 more, so $130.

As it stands now, if I get an iPhone, and the rest of my family doesn't, it will come to $140.

/Hope that helps

You Got My Vote...

Dude...they changed their slogan from "Get More" a year or two ago. It's now "Stick Together" Next year it will be "Circle the wagons" and the year after that it will be "Go down with the ship".

...for Comedy Post o' the Thread!

What confuses me is how ATT has only one unlimited text messaging plan and that requires that you must have unlimited picture and video. This is such an overpriced plan if you are getting the iPhone. Sure it is great if you have some crap phone, but if you have the iPhone there is no need for Picture sending as you can just use the email feature. And Video's well I really don't know anyone who actually sends video's via MMS. Why not just load it to your computer and send it that way.

Man this is a huge blow. I was going to get this but now I am at only 40% chance of getting one; I even had a line buddy waiting and ready...

I think the major danger (aside from going over the alloted minutes) is going over the alloted text messages. On iPhone you'll be using an ichat like application and every send (and possibly every receive) will be one of your 200 alloted SMS messages. As someone else has suggested, if you type a lot or send a file, that could count as many (dozens perhaps) of SMS messages in a single send. Its not hard to imagine many or most of the chats I've conducted using ichat
have gone over the 200 message allotment. I could see this gotcha hitting many new unsuspecting iPhone users (perhaps it's part of AT&Ts plan).

No, but it can be done with additional 4.99. It comes with free national and roaming (guess what on the cingular network!) a free phone and paying 10 bucks additional I can talk to any 5 numbers for free!

So to make it feature comparable with the iPhone plan, you're at $65. I don't see how this is supposed to show that the iPhone isn't competitively priced.

With the iPhone's plan, I have to pay $30 extra to have 1500 SMS which I wouldn't come close to using.

The $30 extra is for existing customers to add 1500 messages AND unlimited data. I don't see a listing for just upgrading messages, but based on the difference in prices, the logical number would be $10 for 1500 and $20 for unlimited.

What I don't get is why someone with a phone with full internet and email access would need to send text messages. Isn't there some web proxy or something that could be used to send text and avoid paying message fees?

Yes...the "e" is Sero is "Employee"
..so be mindful of this the next time someone drags those rates out. Its not a consumer plan and they are being deceptive :)

Ha.

So Sprint for NON-E new customers it's $100 per month instead of ATT's $60 AND You get the honor of NOT using an iPhone.

Is it any wonder why i NEVER heard apple even approaching sprint about partnering up?

:D

That helps tremendously. It looks like ATT is only a few $ more than Sprint. But my parents are cheap and I think that's why they chose Sprint in the first place. The only thing holding me back is Sprint's early termination fee. There's no way my parents would go for that. But I think once our contract has ended, we'll switch...but that's another year and a half!!!

I don't even really want an iPhone, it's way too $$$ for me now and for only 8gb. I just want a new iPod. If a touchscreen iPod comes out I'll be happy. I've had my iPod mini since Fab 2004 and thankfully the thing still works!!

Right now, it's just frustrating that I can't even get an iPhone if I wanted to. lol....

Thanks again!
