but still he called ipads in May
He originally said to expect new iPads in March though

When that didn't happen, he said to expect them in April

When we got nothing in April, he pushed it out to May. If Apple didn't release new iPads in May, you know what he would have done? He would have told us to expect new iPads in June.

Gurman is right enough.
When you keep revising your predictions, anyone can be right.

since Apple is in tiled to change their minds...Mark what he can do? yail to apple ?
Mark also talk about new apple pencil, keyboard..and so on...on those you close your eye on!? Its clear Mark has insights and not like others that copy paste Mark claims
From legal point just watch Mark language...when he said expect, or something similar is very different from when he said "im told" the latter is 100% every time sure that Apple set that thing in stone

I mean it’d also been reported those were planned dates but Apple had to delay the release 2-3 times

The big news here is that with a month to go do WWDC, they've chosen to break off the iPads into their own event. Whenever Apple does this, the main event tends to be really big. I guess WWDC will be heavily focused on AI throughout, with no hardware announcements.

So close to WWDC! This might be the year i finally grab an iPad Air or mini -- been thinking about it for a while.

Seems pretty long for just some small updates of essentially the same products (yeah smaller bezels, etc). Remember that Mac event last fall which was only 30 minutes. Especially the iPad Pro updates might be bigger than we thought.

It was also very weird that these iPads were reportedly delayed because of missing software. Seems like there's a pretty hefty update coming there as well just like when the cursor or the Pencil hover feature were introduced.

That's what I'm thinking too. 30 mins each on Air and Pro. Last hour focus on Software and accessories.

so Mark probably will get 4(new ipads, mac , apple pencil and keyboard) things right and 1 thing (May instead of April)wrong and they call him a dead wrong....some people cant do even simple math

I don't know the plausibility of M4 vs. M3 this soon but I'll again offer this concept: if M3 has the "unfixable" hack vector and it apparently does... and the Corp opts to keep selling it anyway, the seeds of a class action are growing. That's the oldest class action catalyst in the book: knowing you are selling something that can cause harm to buyers but doing it anyway.

So we can believe whatever we want to believe but if M3 has the hole and M4 doesn't, the rumored rush to M4 may be about minimizing that eventual settlement. Once a Corp knows there is a flaw that can cause customers harm, continuing to sell anyway is going to lead to a legal event(s). The best way to minimize that expense is to stop selling the problematic thing ASAP. Before you know about the problem, you have a little bit of "we didn't know" legal wiggle room. After you know, you have no defense against the implication that you opted to keep selling anyway for the money. If we can't bear such a thought for the favorite company, mentally change the brand name to process this concept... or just watch some afternoon television and pay attention to endless stream of "we get money for you" legal commercials to see this same basic concept playing out over and over again against all kinds of companies who knew... but kept selling anyway.

In this case, if we assume M4 is going to close the hole, rushing to M4 makes more sense than rolling out even more new stuff with M3. Else, if M4 is in short supply, Corp may be doing what many have done before and just building in the assumption of some future settlement for each unit sold into their expectations.

Pair the concept of why iPads that were heavily expected and has a bit of a history of normally updating in March waited until May: did M4 need the added time to be ready for new iPads?

And then there's the simple profit motive: apparently, N3E is the cheaper chip process. And I heard somewhere- but this could be the wildest of speculation- Apple likes to harvest every possible nickel out of each transaction. ;)

So those hoping for M4 seem to have some legit hope. Would Apple launch M4 in iPads? That seems unlikely... but again I think about the legal point referenced above. Would a Mac or two launch with this if M4 is THE chip launched here? What Macs are still on deck? Studio and Pro. Any rumors about them getting updated soon? Yes, there have been some. How long is this presentation to "only spec bump a few iPads"? 2 Hours. Hmmmm.

stop with this M4 non-sense...the first device that will hit the market that will show something about the upcoming M4 will be the iphone with its A18 pro SoC
There are no legit rumours about about M4 on ipads or macs until the September event

Here's what I'm thinking:

What'll happen:
- New Apple Pencil with squeeze mechanic (Very Likely)
- New iPad Airs, including a 12.9" (Very Likely)
- New iPad Pros (Likely)
- New Magic Keyboard for iPads (Likely)

What's possible:
- iPhone color refresh
- Services update
- Hidden 17.5 feature gets announced
- New iPad mini
- Mac Studio (Unlikely, but I don't think unreasonable)
- HomePod mini colors/update (Unlikely, but also something I don't think would be unreasonable)

What won't happen:
- New AirPods or AirTags
- New iMac or MacBooks
- New Base iPad
- EU DMA changes in other territories
- iPhone SE
- New Apple TV

Also, major LOL to the people arguing about Mark Gurman. I don't know what's more sad/embarassing: the people who treat his word like gospel, or the people who have such a strong personal vendetta against him. He's just a dude who operates with information he gets from insiders. He's never painted himself as a messiah of leaks, like Jon Prosser did. He just says what he hears and sometimes he is right and sometimes he is wrong. You would think that people on a website called MacRUMORS would understand this 👻

Max Tech says M4 not m3 for iPad Pro..
I think that comes from speculation in the iPad macrumors forum about whether they would have an M4. General consensus is that it’s too early as new chip design/features will appear on the iPhone first. It does raise the question of whether we end up with another iPad 3 scenario with a revised version being launched relatively soon, especially if there’s a shift to more AI features that only new chip design supports. My plan is to see what come up at WWDC before buying a new iPad.
