Still a significant update...hopefully this means AirPods Studio etc. Tomorrow and rest of week

Hell yeah! I'm looking forward to see how the AirPods Studios compares to Sony's next update to the much-vaunted WH-1000XM3, the WH-1000XM4s!

Because a Windows 10 sucks, but you can build yourself anything your heart desires and macOS is way better (no matter how much this crew denies it), but Apple doesn’t cater to their whims and it pisses them off, so they come here to whine about it every time Apple updates their Mac hardware. Every. Single. Time.

They’re still crying about USB-A, SD Card, MagSafe and a lighted Apple logo nearly FOUR years later at the same fevered pitch. Four years. Cannot imagine how many have restraining orders against them from ex-girlfriends/ex-wives.
😂 I need to remember that.

If gaming via bootcamp is a secondary concern, how does the 5700 compare to the Vega 64X in the iMac Pro? I am worried about the cooling of the i9 version of the new iMac since I currently have the 2019 i9 iMac and it gets way too hot and loud.

I have the same 2019 iMac and have stopped gaming on it... the cooling seems sub-optimal, it gets so damn hot

Flash forward to next year and the massive amount of issues people are having with the slim bezels on the new Macs...

I'm interested in this simply because its a perfected version of a great product, and I'd like to be SSD only instead of fusion.

16GB should be the base model for RAM. 8GB is a joke.
They only include it so it posts when you plug it in. They obviously don't want any part of the memory game given their base allotments and upgrade costs. But if you are lazy and wasteful, they will allow themselves to take your money.

Ready to move on the base 27" iMac until I saw that there's no option to upgrade the paltry 256GB SSD, unless you spring for the extra $200 that will bump the i5 Core processor from 3.1 GHz to 3.3 GHz and the SSD up to 512GB. Only then do you get the option of bumping the storage up to 1TB or 2TB. I'll hold off for a little while and see if any other storage options come up.

And I’m assuming we can still upgrade the RAM ourselves? I know it’s a stupid question but you never know with Apple.

Bezels from the 2009 Era
You just want a petite Mac Pro computer chassis without display. Add a separate Apple display and the cost would likely be more than you and most people want to pay. :p

The iMac and iMac Pro design even if it doesn't change the stand or the monitor bezel it is a example where Apple did combine the two and reduced the cost in a attractive form. The downside is that its lacks customization except when built in the factory for your order. This is likely what you want from a computer.

Are we 100% sure that Apple won't offer you something similar with Apple Silicon progression?

I seen some nice rumor designs submitted here to MacRumors, but its seems the about the only thing that would really change is the all-in-one computer stand more then the bezel design that Apple likes? How about a iMac with those fancy ventilation holes from the Mac Pro only way smaller in numerous places around the chassis maybe with a rectangular balance stand? Guess we will see if it's more art than computer with the next model. At least this latest iMac is more powerful and does add quite a few options.

Eh, I know they're getting blasted for not updating the design, and I wish they had expanded to 4 USB-C ports or added HDMI, but this is still the best professional desktop + display ever made for my money. My office is running multiple iMac 27's from 2013 and beyond of various ages, all going strong.

Its the same chassis, so yes, not a problem.

8GB (two 4GB) of 2666MHz DDR4 memory; four SO-DIMM slots, user accessible
Configurable to 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, or 128GB.

Might be able to get 256 in there as well? Time will tell.
