Looks like this iPhone doesn't have B30 support for AT&T.

My 6S Plus has Band 30 since I have the fully unlocked version, but what does Band 30 really do for AT&T customers? Provide new tech that they will use? I got it for T-Mobile, so doubt it means much to me.

so I'm on Verizon and looked at the 64 GB prices, it said I was eligible for an upgrade on September 19th.

It gave me 2 options on the Apple site, upgrade today, contract free, for $500, or sign a 2 year contract in September for $50.

But what about if I renew a 2 year contract today? Can I get it for $50? I'd happily sign a fresh 2 year contract extension now if I could get it for $50.

It's 1.2mp front facing camera, NOT 5mp!

I knew they skimped that spec because they didn't mention it.

No LTE Advanced in the SE. Sorry.
LTE-A doesn't mean more bands.

This is odd because Apple is claiming that the 6/6+ doesn't have LTE-A, but it supports most of the currently implemented LTE-A features, like carrier aggregation, VoLTE, VoWiFi, etc. The 6S/+ support more CA band combinations and faster speeds, but that doesn't mean the 6/6+/SE don't have LTE-A support.

Overall, I'm happy with the announcement, I think I'll let the dust settle before committing to buy it, i.e., getting away from the RDF.

Looks really great, so long as it's 2GB of RAM (which it *should* be with an A9, unless they pulled a tricky one on us... i.e.: special version of the A9 or something). Starting at 16GB storage is plain silly, but I guess they'd really have pissed 6s folks off if they'd started at 32GB.

In other words... NO BIG DEAL. :) But, I'm not sure why you're comparing it to the Plus in the first place.

At least for me, it's about what Apple does to their UX reputation, not about what *I WANT*. I'll just buy the 64GB version. The problem is the newbies who go to the phone store and buy the base model (that's pushed and advertised constantly, as that's the price they have in their head), assuming that with a premium phone like an iPhone, even the base model should be OK. Then, after a few months, they find they are struggling with storage.

The point being, the amount Apple gains in up-sells (short term) isn't worth the potential bad user experience (long term).

The 6S Plus is their best flagship. Wanted to compare it since it's the only iPhone line that gets OIS based off the 6 Plus and 6S Plus.

I like that Apple updated the 5S. It's missing some of the features of the 6S like 3D Touch, a second gen touch ID, dual domain pixels for wide viewing angles, MIMO for WiFi, LTE Advanced, and the 5 MP FaceTime camera, but they made the old phone better and dropped the price. Good move Apple. A lot of people will be happy. :) One thing I love about the 5S is that it's so light. It took getting used to the weight of the 6S. I am kind of tempted to replace my 6S with this new SE, but I like having a larger screen now.

It's great to see the weight is nearly identical to iPhone 5/5s. Can't wait to see the colors in person. The gold on the 5s is lighter than the gold on the 6/6s. I wonder if that carries, or this gold will be the darker version.

Anyone know if it will support WiFi calling with AT&T? My guess is that it will, since the hardware is similar to the 6s.

Thus comment is a little doom and gloom but your right in that it reflects a lacklustre show on stage tonight.
New iPhone is great but new presenters seemed almost bored to be on stage.

Yeah, you get the impression that some of them are "semi-retired", just waiting for their qualified replacements to arrive or finish their "grooming" process.

Why would I buy a phone that's externals were designed in 2014, in 2016? Going backwards.

How is it going backwards? Just because you don't like the design, or the fact that it was designed longer ago than yesterday doesn't make it somehow "backwards".

I am *overjoyed* that the design is the same as the 5S. It is exactly what I wanted out of a 4" phone upgrade that I have been missing since the 6 was announced.

See a lot of people in my area using 3D Touch on a daily basics. Mostly in Messages.

Agreed. Being able to read a text without actually reading it is great. Even though I have read receipts off, in the past I'd find myself reading a text message, and forgetting to reply. So I got in the habit of not reading a text until I had time to reply. Because once the badge showing I had a new text was gone, I'd forget.

Now I get to read the entirety of the text, without getting rid of the new message badge. Then I have that constant reminder to go back and read it and reply.

Since Apple refuses to add a "mark as unread" to texts, this is the next best option.

Can you confirm whether the FaceTime camera is 5MP or 1.2MP? I seem to recall the keynote saying 5MP, which was echoed by the MacRumors article, but the Apple site seems to say 1.2MP.

I know LTE A means faster speeds. Never said anything about band differences. Band 30 is notably absent so there is a slight difference for band availability, but doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things.

For Apple, this is a budget device. I don't know if they ever had a an iPhone at this price, let alone a brand new model. I think they packed it with a lot of features for the price point. The closest device before it was the 5C and that was embarassing in both feature set and price.
