Big disappointment. No 4k, double/triple the price and comes with an old CPU. Has it been confirmed that the Roku 4 will support 4K? If so, I might just switch to that. I'm so glad I never bought into iTunes for my movies.

Whats the chances then of Apple allowing an app to stream my own movies from my local NAS ....like the rest of the competition ?

There will however soon be an app for that.... I just had an email from FireCore confirming they are already building an ATV4 version of their Infuse app:
http://firecore.com/infuse

That's the power of an App Store... If apple doesn't do it, others will :) :)

So um. No core technical updates on the tv? Like 4k or even Dolby Atmos? Come on! It is for home theaters!

Well, I do notice 1080p 60fps and Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 in the specs on Apple's site. Best I know, both of those are new (for :apple:TV anyway).

Like you, I too was hoping for video & audio upgrades that would go toe-to-toe with the Blu Ray and other consumer video hardware. Maybe next time (which is hopefully not 3-4 more years from now).

Why is it so tall compared to the old apple TV?

Its basically the iPhone 6 board, minus the battery/screen/sim and with addition of a few ports. Its like twice the height of the old apple tv?!

23mm vs. 33mm (just doing a little math check here)...

Is it possible to share your screen from an apple device, say iPad, when using a Chromecast or a Roku?

It seems really nice, but it turns your TV into a computer. I can't wait for my TV to lag after one or two updates. Also, Siri never works that well in real life.

However, if it does work like they're showing it, it will be incredible. I hope it's a success.

Well you're just positive all around aren't you?

Of course you need the new hardware for the new interface. The old version will only do what you get now. It will not offer anything else. Ever. This is how Apple does it.

I better not have to buy a new unit to get these features. I'm fine with the old remote. Don't care for Apple logging all my voice commands.

Agree to 4K and local media search, though an app might remedy the search thing to some extent. No 4K is a deal breaker for sure - what were they thinking?
I think there is so little 4k material out there right now it doesn't make sense to increase cost to enable that. Better to wait and then release gen 2 when it is needed and more 4k TVs are out there.

Sorry if this is a silly question....

Is there some sort of subscription service if the content is only available on iTunes? Or do you pay per episode/movie that you watch that is only available on iTunes?
