For maximum range and compatibility, Time Capsule works simultaneously on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, allowing all the devices on the network to use the most efficient band automatically.

From the Apple shop, can a techie here explain what this means? Isn't wifi n de facto on the 2.4 ghz?

You can get the extended keyboard

I like that they added another USB to the back.

Did they really lose the 10 key to the end of the wired keyboard though and they tapered the "foot of the iMac"?

I'm glad I have the "older" 2.8 Extreme iMac if they really did that. I only wish I had that 1066 bus instead of 667 and DDR3 instead of DDR2.

No it's an option. You can still get the extended keyboard

Mac Mini now has two ports, Mini display port and Mini DVI video out...
Can I run dual monitor with this?

Ok, I don't understand why people are so upset about the iMac upgrades...

So they raised the price slightly.

They increased the amount of memory you can have to 8gb...even coming with 4gb which i believe is more than the standard last time.

The memory is upgraded from DDR2 to DDR3

They increased the monitor size to 24"

They included a better CPU (new technology, same processor speed = better)

So they didn't put in graphics cards on the lower ends, they still included the nvidia chipset which is pretty good.

....The baseline iMacs are not meant for intense activites...that is the whole point of computer companys providing upgrades for the customer.

STOP COMPLAINING

I find your use of the word "slightly" insulting quite frankly. The price of the top end iMac has increased by £440!

Hey, why are so many negative rating at both news (update Mini/iMac) and Mac Pro? Don't you like the price? Or what?

I like the new mini, especially the integrated 9400M...

I haven't heard this many Brits whine since... well, I guess it was yesterday!:D Anyone care for cheese with that?:p

Totally off topic but I thought I would make the point. If I were from Pakistan, would you have referred to me as a Paki? Some might find your use of the word "Brit" offensive...

My new Mac Mini sitting pretty at the Amsterdam stock exchange :)

The delivery truck arrived at Mac Warehouse a few mins before the Japan Apple store came back online.

Now that's what I call a smoothly coordinated worldwide release.

Uber pricey

Mini low-end: In USA, USD $599. In Australia: 1049 Australian dollars = 674.6119 U.S. dollars.
Mini high-end: In USA, USD $799. In Australia: 1399 Australian dollars = 899.6969 U.S. dollars.

Currency conversions through Google, as at March 3, 2009. Roughly a 12.5% mark-up for Australian buyers. On top of that, add money to buy a new converter cable for the PAL telly (assuming it's supported).

Extremely poor value for money, after such a long wait.

Mac Mini FAKE!!!!

Look at the picture of the mini! The shadows on the display port are going the wrong direction. And doesn't the headphone jack look just a little TOO round?!? Hmmm... and think about it, why would Apple make a mini that was any larger then my pinky finger?

When will these Photoshop hacks knock it off?

Oi! Some of us "Brits" like being called Brits!

Grow up, or grow thicker skin.

OK, for us Brits it really does suck that the prices went up, but that's what happens when your currency tanks. I also had a look at the price of the Mini against what would likely be its closest mass market competitor, the Dell Studio Hybrid, specced as close as I could to the entry level Mini.

Processor: C2D @ 2.0Ghz vs C2D @ 2.0Ghz

HDD: 120Gb SATA vs 160Gb SATA
Wireless: Included N vs Optional N
Bluetooth: Inlcuded vs No option
Optical: DVDRW vs DVDRW
Firewire: 800 vs 4 pin 400
USB: 5x USB 2.0 vs 5x USB 2.0
Video Out: DVI/Displayport vs DVI/HDMI
OS: OSX Leopard vs Vista Home Premium

Price: £499 vs £548.99

I think the Mini is holding up pretty well in this market. Remember putting something into this small a case isn't cheap either. It would have been lovely if the prices stayed the same, but you can blame Gordon Brown, we're only getting stiffed an extra tenner over the US price once VAT is included.

What a pathetic update- especially for the mac mini, and especially the INCREASED price. Unbelievable. Here I was thinking that leaked photo was too embarrassing to be the new mini. You'd think after 2 years maybe they'd do something to it, like change the look, form-factor, integrate AppleTV, lower the price- ANYTHING. But no, they managed to raise the price, making what was once a bad value even worse.

I can't wait until Jobs leaves. He's done a lot to help rebuild Apple, but he's gone mad and lazy with the computer hardware aspect of Apple. It works in keeping them in the black, but it's completely dickish to consumers, especially those who don't know they're buying less for more. I would trade the Apple of the early 2000's, pre iPod, for the one now that seems more focused on the iPod, iPhone, and leaving their computer hardware as stylish out-of-date, overpriced bling for rich people to show off.

OK people, it's time to grow up. Apple did not increase prices - your currency got worse compared to the US dollar. Too bad. There's nothing Apple can do about it. Blame your government for poor management of your economy.

Do you honestly expect Apple to take a hit because your currency value decreased? That's not really good business sense.

Silly me for thinking Apple didn't drop the prices when it was 2 USD to 1 GBP because it would keep them stable if/when Sterling weakened. Let's face facts:

- Whatever the exchange rate, there is a tendency for the UK Consumer buying in the UK to be screwed.

- Steve Jobs is not your kindly uncle, and Apple are not your friend or a charity, they are a multi-national corporation (multinational ?) just like Starbucks, McDonald's, Wal-Mart and Microsoft.

I for one, welcome our new Windows 7 based Dell over lords ! LOL!

Seriously... I had £1500 waiting to buy a new iMac - the old top end 3.06Ghz model. Now its a whopping £1800.

They are insane. People have shown quad core i7 based PC's with 24" screens and top end 285GTX GPU cards for that kind of money.

The Geforce 120/130 is still ancient in comparison to modern PC graphics cards... hell even the 4850 is classed as mid range, and nobody would partner that card with a 1920x1200 screen.

So in all... Ive waited for NOTHING. Apple are trying to shaft us royally in the UK (remember when the pound was worth a hell of a lot more, they never really discounted the products so we over paid then as well... now we are being double shafted)

Im not spending my money. Bitterly disappointed with Apple.

I almost fell off my chair when I saw the 'updated' minis. Appalling spec, appalling price. Who on earth would buy one... ? Go check out Dell's studio line for a radicallly designed true mini...

Who would have thought.. dell now out innovating apple in terms of style and certainly on price. With Windows7, OSX will be worth less as a premium as well.
