How does the 9400M compare to the ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro?

So comparing the new low end 24" iMac to my previous refurb 24" iMac that I just got I paid $50 more, got .14Ghz better processor, 2GB DDR2 RAM 4GB Max vs. 4GB DDR3 RAM 8GB Max, half the hard drive space, a month of use, and then there's the difference in the graphics cards.

I knew I should have waited, I'm just so impatient, good job on all of you that waited tho.

Now the big question is buy today or wait until the possible release of Snow Leopard at the end of the month? If I buy today, what's the time frame to get the "free" upgrade disc?

The two low end iMacs:

NVIDIA GeForce 9400M with 256MB of shared DDR3 memory

The price went up and the computer got downgraded. What the **** is this???

Base model iMac 24 inch was 1599 EUR now its down to 1399, with more RAM, but less MHz but more HDD space.

Its good to me, finally I can purchase a 24 inch thats decent enough, and save 200 euros

Wow they FINALLY have superdrive in all their computers.

The $599 mac mini is almost not overpriced!

Low end 24" is £26 cheaper now. Nothing wrong with that!!!!!

what apple think i do for a living ! rob banks? (or Bankers)
In the European socialist paradise, including New "Labour" Britain, the gap between the rich and the poor is wider than ever. If you can't afford these prices, you're not on the side Apple's trying to target. Sorry.

Could it be that Apple is finally discontinuing the Combo Drive?

Amen to that. Now I'm kinda sad my (now obsolete) Mac Mini only has a Combo Drive... my Macbook's Superdrive is only burning 1 out of 5 DVDs now ("failed to calibrate laser...") at 1x speed. Still good for 3 years of use (I actually burned a lot of DVDs...) and half a cup of coffee in the Laptop. Will replace that trusty Machine when Snow Leopard ships.

How does the 9400M compare to the ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro?

exactly what i would like to know at this point.

I set aside just about £950 hoping to get the 2nd in the line for the improved graphics. Now i'll be paying that for the standard model available.

UK pricing is crazy. I have been sat here for the last hour waiting for the store to come back online so I can get one of the new mac minis but a price jump from £391 to £499 is ridiculous. Over $700 for a baseline box is unacceptable and they certainly won't be getting my money for it.

hmm the only rational I can figure with the mini pricing is to push people towards the apple TV for living room settings. I've been considering a mini for the living room for quite a while, but with the prices like this it just isn' t worth while.

I can't believe they've put a 9400m in a 24 inch, surely that would struggle graphics wise ?
Also is the new 20 inch better or worse in terms of graphics ?
The Benchmarks for these will be interesting to look at

WOW. Shared memory on the low-end iMacs! That's crazy. I guess there's only two iMacs worth buying. That shared memory is gonna be terrible on the 24-inch with that resolution.

I think there's a new keyboard. Now there's 3 options to choose: Apple wired keyboard, apple wireless keyboard and apple wired keyboard with numeric pad. interesting
