Now the big question is buy today or wait until the possible release of Snow Leopard at the end of the month? If I buy today, what's the time frame to get the "free" upgrade disc?

Good point. I was thinking of getting the mini, maybe I'll wait another month. :)

I am going to finally purchase a TC, its DUAL BAND and the new GUEST NETWORKING have sealed the deal. Now I just need the funds, which may take time while we sit in a credit crunch.

THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF THE GREATEST DAYS EVER.
I am (hopefully) getting a job in the next few months and a Mac mini is going to be the first thing I get!
Although! I went and looked at the new iMac and it's amazing! I can't believe all the 24-inch models have 4GB ram.

I know this is really lame, but I think I'm about to cry!

yayayayaya yayaya oooo yayaya. im getting the mac mini low end with 2 gigs of ram and a 250 gig hard drive yayayay ooooo yayaya

The worst update ever:

Graphics card downgraded to a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M with 256MB of shared DDR3 memory. Stupid!

No LED-display. Stupid!

CPU-upgrades minimal. Stupid!

Prices went up. STUPID! (normally they hold their price tag but get an upgrade, this time they got downgraded and got pricier).

Yeah Apple. this is really going to help you sell computers during the financial crisis. NOT!

What they seem to have done for the Mini is more or less kept the previous 'top of the range' one the same, and at the same price, but removed the low end-one, and added a new top end one. In other words, the old £499 one was selling ok, and they're keeping it going.

For the iMacs they've done the same thing; they've removed the very lowest model, and just upped the specs on the rest, as well as adding a new 24" model.

Wow they FINALLY have superdrive in all their computers.

The $599 mac mini is almost not overpriced!

Agreed!
Now the "Super" name makes no sense anymore because there's nothing inferior to compare it to. Do you think when Apple will make BluRay drives available, those will be called Ultradrive?

so put it in separately yourself, easily doable

You could put in the memory yourself. The question is if you could buy it cheaper from other manufacturers. The last I checked they came about 300 Euro per module.

And there were some reports from the people doing it on Macbooks, that the new DDR3 RAM was not all that compatible. I would hate to spend 600 Euro just to find out that it does not work on the iMac....

GT130 = 9600GT

Total FAIL for a 2k computer

Anyone buying the low end 24" with the 9400M is going to be so disappointed when a family member wants to play a modern 3D game.

"but mommy we just spent $1500 on a new computer and I'm only getting 15FPS on ___!?!?"

I know the prices are kind of disappointing for Brits in particular, but you really should blame your own ridiculously weak currency. There is nothing Apple can do about it. This trend will continue for a long while, so if you don't like it, you should move out of the UK, really.

correct me if i'm worng, but there seems to be confusion - it looks like the $1499 model is not 24", but 20".

No, it's a 24"

I am VERY disappointed with the mini. It should have a proper 3.5" drive in there, not some tinkertoy for laptops. >.< FAIL APPLE! And more expensive without SATA 3.5" drive!!

Aside from that it is a nice little computer.

I've 2 Macs, but I think both the new iMac & Mini UK prices won't go down well with most consumers. Much higher than I expected.

Everything will get more expensive for us as the pound is weaker. Some cars have gone up, Apple stuff and I've seen a few other foreign items recently going up. Its all misery for us.

Aye, I just noticed it before this post. I really was happy about the £1,999 iMac 24 inch, I noticed that it was essentially the 20 inch but with a 24 inch screen, but totally forgot about the graphics card. Sucks.

Speaking as a mac user from the UK may I just say:

Hooooooooooooooooooooooow much???

£500 for the Mac Mini? Are they taking the proverbial here? I know the pound is weak right now but my lord that's expensive. Yes, it's priced as it always is against the dollar but that's almost a months rent for the most basic computer Apple makes these days.

I wonder how well OS X runs on a Dell Mini 9....

the base line Mac Mini used to be £391 now its £499, hopefully some idiot has made some mistake using the same number as the american site.

Specs nice, Price they can go shove it!

Upgraged MacBook Pro

The MacBook Pro has has a processor upgrade from 2.53 to 2.66... sneaked that what in.
