I dove with mine in October. The display is big and bright and well thought out. Looking forward to going back with the full app. as a backup Dive computer.

So one has to have crippled app or pay extortion price?
This is very expensive and very basic dive computer. Software is worth not more than 5$ per year.
I'll use with my Ultra. But for real diving I'll stick to Suunto or other real dive computers.

It isn't crippled and extortion is not the term you think it is.

You always have to pay extra for more features. Is a car dealership extorting you by charging extra for premium features like heated seats?

My RSS reader pullled down the attached photo with this Macrumors story, which looks exactly like an apple press photo/rendering but has TWO unreleased Ocean band colors.

I cannot imagine that Macrumors commissioned an original rendering for this post or somehow edited the colors on the bands? Is this an apple mistake that they hastily corrected? All the bands in the press release are now the yellow one.

Am I going insane? Does anyone else see this photo in their RSS reader?

I had few dive computers and I know how much they're worth. 80$ a year for uncripple the app is extortion. Car dealership doesn't charge me subscription for heated seats. I buy once and use it as long as I like.
I also hate the subscription model and we are on the same page but BMW just started a subscription model for heated seats. not only that but Mercedes also introduces an acceleration subscription fee :D

All they want is to rip people as much as they can.

You can buy a dedicated dive computer for $800 or add dive computer functionality to your everyday watch for $80/yr. That seems like a good deal to me.

“I refuse to be extorted by spending $80 a year. I don’t think the developer deserves to make a living. In protest I’ll use my $1000 dive computer to show how above it all I am.”

🥱

Yes they are if it’s a subscription. And yes, if they force you to buy the “$1500 appearance package” that cost them $50 to slap on.

Imagine not being able to afford an $800 Apple Watch Ultra, but going ahead and complaining about the $9.99/mo scuba subscription?

The irony
Forget about the watch. Scuba diving is expensive and many divers dive with 2 dive computers for redundancy. People complaining about price for hardware and additional subscriptions (not even necessary for diving) really have no understanding of this subject.

Not all subscriptions are a scam, especially software subscriptions.

By what means did they force you to purchase it? Maybe you can open a case with your state attorney general.

Not true!
Here is much better dive computer for about 130$
For diving with wet/dry suit and Apple Watch Ultra I need new strap with extension which cost 100$ for strap and extension for 50$. Total 150$ for straps!
And you think this watch is the cheapest? ROTFL
If you regularly go deeper than that yes, the watch is cheaper. A dry suit will more than likely cost a lot more, as will a regulator and possibly your BC. Ironic you post the Leonardo because I have used that numerous times and found it lacking. I use a Descent as my primary and have used the Ultra as a backup.
