Hmmm I can't decide whether to RE-upgrade to iOS 4 on my 3G. I guess I'll wait and see what the concensus turns out to be. After downgrading it has worked perfectly, and seeing as how it will become an iPod Touch as soon as my iPhone 4 arrives, I'll still care about whether its running properly.

Dev site is down, so hopefully they are doing an update and going to make the final 4.1 and the first 4.2 beta available to developers today!

HDR sounds great but ....

The new HDR capability sounds great in theory but I wonder how difficult it will be to hold your iphone still for 3 consecutive exposures. It is hard enough to hold it still for 1 exposure! If the 3 exposures aren't perfectly registered, I suspect the results will be unsatisfactory. We will soon find out.

thats not how it works...its one shot which shoots the dark/light/neutral at the same time to form the HDR

Ping

ha i swear this belongs to BBM! i see a law suit coming,,

where the **** is the apple messenger, bring out the Ichat already you stupied ****s!

apple is starting to remind me of the developers of Facebook! RUBBISH! Get your fingers out of your ARSES and LISTEN to the people!

dammit, have to wait a week for 4.1, i wanna use my iphone 4 already!!!!!!

Anyone notice that the quicklaunch bar on the iPad had an orientation lock button?

This wouldn't be necessary unless they're doing away with the physical orientation lock or changing its function.

I think you'll find that's exactly how it works - 3 SEPARATE shots in quick succession each with a different exposure then merged together so any movement either of the camera or the subject will ruin it.

Not necessarily. Feature redundancy (especially between hardware and software methods) is not unheard of—even in Apple products. For example, using the iPod app on an iPhone (or iPod touch) gives you up to three ways to control the volume: hardware buttons, software slider, or hardware "buttons" on the included headphones.

Personally, I'm more disappointed that an update to bring iOS 4 to iPad has taken/is taking this long and yet there are no signs of iPad-specific enhancements.

So... what do you think about Steve saying that iOS 4.2 for iPad coming in November will do everything that iOS 4.1 will do on the iPhone including HDR photos

I think we will see iPad 2 on November just in time for the holiday season, that is what I figured out after hearing what Steve said... although he could just be confused with all the i devices presented today (he called the nano touch several times )

We'll see what happens, I WILL be waiting for november to buy the iPad :D

Yes, it's three shots. Not specified how quickly it shoots them. Also, you get to keep the original "reference" shot just in case you don't like the HDR version. Seems like a win-win to me.

bluetooth fixes?

does this mean they'll fnally have a more current implementation that will allow more control via bluetooth (i.e. it will work better with Sync in my new Fusion Hybrid)????

Love the addition of HDR photography. I recently bought Pro HDR, and it has become one of my favorite apps.

I sure hope this update fixes the bug with Apple's built-in Nike+ app.

Yeah I love Pro HDR. I bet the developer is annoyed that HDR functionality is going to be included in iOS...

Exactly. And THIS is what Steve meant when he said it would work on iPad as well.

New iPad in 2011, people!

I really can't see why Apple doesn't make iChat and FaceTime compatible? They should just have made iChat mobile, and made it possible to have a video chat between Macs and iPods touches/iPhones. As of now, iChat is used sub-optimally. Also, they should consider upgrading the resolution of iChat in future Macs.
