So I guess an option for the 27" users who got screwed today is to buy an M1 iMac Mini and attach it to your 27 inch iMac in target mode. Likely what I'll do. Dammit Apple!

Can't believe Apple is cheaping out on the ports.

You get 2 additional USB 3 ports, only if you buy the 8-core GPU version.

I started out with "I like it".

But Face-ID would have been nice, we at least get touch-id. A redesigned Magic Mouse would've been great too. That port limitation on the less powerful one seems odd. 2 ports on a desktop? Guess I only kinda like it.

Now I‘m curious what they'll do with the bigger iMac.

The Chin is necessary for the ports and the speakers. The entire computer is in that chin. The top is a screen.

The chin is also helpful for adjusting the display without putting pressure on the screen and getting fingerprints on it.
But couldnt they just make the Chin smaller? Just make the Mac thicker, Chin smaller like usual monitor will do.

I'm guessing we will see a 32 inch iMac Pro in white, silver, space gray, with M1X or M2, to be announced at WWDC. Get ready for multicolored USB-C docks for this one. This will appeal to many Mac users, but I want to upgrade my 27" iMac, and don't want to go down in screen size. So I wait..... I'm not sure why people care about the chin, you need to grab it somewhere to adjust the tilt. A MagSafe charger on this is peculiar. Good idea regarding the ethernet port.

I'd have welcomed a thicker device if it meant chin-less.
And the colors... The pastel chins... The white(?) frame... The no space grey... Holy smokes, not my favorite iteration.
But it does have M1 (as expected), so these babies should perform well. And I guess that's what matters. Oh well....

Personally, I'm just glad there is an ATV update.

The silly things people keep complaining about all the time. This is an entry level computer targeted at millennials. Once the next generation of M SoC is available we will likely see the bigger version, but probably with only the standard colors. I believe this new entry level iMac will be a commercial success. Well done Apple! Hopefully we will see a new MacBook Pro with M1X or M2 or whoever by.the end of this year.
The first millennials are 40 years old. They're not a 'young wacky' demographic, they're parents of tweens.

"we want to make it disappear" ..except the bezel and the chin. A little disappointed but that had to put the speakers and the internals somewhere. I'm glad I got the Mac mini.

It may well sell but I think this will be a moment in Apple's history when they wonder why it went so wrong.

That white chin... Really, once you see it you can't un-see it.

Like it or not we all want the look to be at least a certain way that it does not detract from what you are doing on screen. I can't see how that white chin will not cause an issue that you just won't get used to.
Is it white? Or the same colour as the case?

Anyone notice the recipe for "Ted Lasso's Secret Shortbread" at the very end of the stream? Lol.. Wonder if the guy who messed this up was the same guy who thought it would be a good idea to keep the iMac chin and have white bezels....

Another great reason to keep my MacBook and use with a nice monitor. Gives me way more flexibility and I don’t need to see that chin. Apple designers are probably working from home.

No one got screwed. If you want a larger iMac you won't want this entry level 24" model will you? You'll have to wait for the iMac Pro announcement. Whenever that is.
