The G4 Cube from back in 2000 had a (much larger) external brick. Likewise some of the early minis.
But couldnt they just make the Chin smaller? Just make the Mac thicker, Chin smaller like usual monitor will do.The Chin is necessary for the ports and the speakers. The entire computer is in that chin. The top is a screen.
The chin is also helpful for adjusting the display without putting pressure on the screen and getting fingerprints on it.
Yeah, you are right. The low-tier (started iMac) has only 2 ports + ethernet port inside the power cord.only the start 24" imac has 2 usb4 and headphone jack, the 1499 and up will have
- Two USB 3 ports extra
Why? It’s not like you pick it up and move it around the house with you. A bit thicker and no chin would look much betterThis is awesome. Glad they finally got this thing down to the thickness of a iPad.
The first millennials are 40 years old. They're not a 'young wacky' demographic, they're parents of tweens. The silly things people keep complaining about all the time. This is an entry level computer targeted at millennials. Once the next generation of M SoC is available we will likely see the bigger version, but probably with only the standard colors. I believe this new entry level iMac will be a commercial success. Well done Apple! Hopefully we will see a new MacBook Pro with M1X or M2 or whoever by.the end of this year.
Is it white? Or the same colour as the case?It may well sell but I think this will be a moment in Apple's history when they wonder why it went so wrong.
That white chin... Really, once you see it you can't un-see it.
Like it or not we all want the look to be at least a certain way that it does not detract from what you are doing on screen. I can't see how that white chin will not cause an issue that you just won't get used to.
yea, i would expect a strong focus on a 'pro' desktop after something like this, but i doubt that's happening. And we're back to a desktop dragging a power brick behind it. Agreed, it doesn't appear to be a winner in my book either.
Yes, apple logo is missing. Would be a great focal pointView attachment 1760466
Do they hate the apple logo?
Yea, that was the biggest need. Ergonomics have been awful on the iMac. Have to stack a bunch of books under it to get mid-screen at eye level. Not great. And I can't adjust height hahahaha
No one got screwed. If you want a larger iMac you won't want this entry level 24" model will you? You'll have to wait for the iMac Pro announcement. Whenever that is.So I guess an option for the 27" users who got screwed today is to buy an M1 iMac Mini and attach it to your 27 inch iMac in target mode. Likely what I'll do. Dammit Apple!![]()
