It may well sell but I think this will be a moment in Apple's history when they wonder why it went so wrong.

That white chin... Really, once you see it you can't un-see it.

Like it or not we all want the look to be at least a certain way that it does not detract from what you are doing on screen. I can't see how that white chin will not cause an issue that you just won't get used to.
It’s not white on every model. Also, Apple probably has kept the chin because it’s the model most people will buy, and most consumers want a way to move the display without getting unnecessary fingerprints all over the glass. Could they have made it smaller? Yes. Would you still complain? Yes.

Clearly not.

It couldn't more clear after today that the iMac Pro is what will have:

1. Black/dark colors
2. A larger display
3. Something better than M1.
Clearly so.

Apple will probably release a larger and stronger iMac model later on (probably together with the upcoming 16" MBPs), but they won't be iMac "Pros".

The iMac Pro was a stop-gap solution until Apple got their sh— together and came up with a proper Mac Pro again. The concept is dead and buried.

Wth, no way will you see something like this in a professional environment. Atleast give us a choice for a silver or black model and give us black bezels!
Wait for it - they'll make those an option later on when the 27" model gets replaced. ;)

So...

...no black front
...huge WHITE bezel
...no front Apple logo
...no 27" or 32" or whatever size

Boy, that cries out loud for an iMac Pro coming. But when?

I guess the design is cool, the new speakers/mics/camera system is nice, and the ethernet connexion via the power cable is brilliant, but overall I'm kinda disappointed.
WWDC or Fall.

Wow, what a huge disappointment. STILL HAS A CHIN, white bezels, 3" smaller screen, non-standard resolution, low power M1 chip, no discrete graphics, only 4 ports...
I can't find one single redeeming quality about this iMac.

Worst thing about this is the price. And what that means for any upcoming "pro" version. If you get this with 16GB RAM and a decent amount of storage it's going to be over $2K. A $2K desktop with what is essentially an iPhone chip. How much will they charge for one with an M1X etc?
iMac Pro
M1X - 12 core 16 GB
32" 6K display
$2200

iMac Pro
M1X - 16 core 32 GB
32" 6k display
$2600

If I had to guess. And its at least 6 months if not a year away.

24" models probably designed with the thought of general usage habits of office environment.. leaving the chin to let people put their post-it messages and filli it up with stickers. I think space gray, silver and gold colors will be presented at the iMac 31" ( my guess for the screen size) model as a more professional version of the iMac, which I assume will show up with a smaller chin like none to 1" chin at most I think.
My biggest dissapointment is that they kept the ports at back.. I was hopping for them to place those ports on the side of the stand just like the MacBook Pro's. But that way using Veya mount would eliminate the ports so my design idea should have ports mostly at the back and few at the sides of the stand for quick plug in and outs like usb drives.

The silly things people keep complaining about all the time. This is an entry level computer targeted at millennials. Once the next generation of M SoC is available we will likely see the bigger version, but probably with only the standard colors. I believe this new entry level iMac will be a commercial success. Well done Apple! Hopefully we will see a new MacBook Pro with M1X or M2 or whoever by.the end of this year.
I agree. These color choices are better than the iPad Air colors from last year.

This seems like a throwback to fun and fruity iMacs. With good sound and good for video conferencing will be a hit for many. We will see these on dining room tables where all the kids can access it. There will be some color matched USB-C docks coming from third parties for sure. But let's be honest, isn't it time we all start transitioning to USB-C, with regards to what we connect to our computers? Way past time. Over the past couple of years, I got a wireless printer, USB-C external drive enclosure, can back up my iPad and iPhone wirelessly to the computer, etc. The only thing I need to dongle is a SD card reader, so I have one USB-C to USB-A adaptor cable. It looks like they have now finished the consumer Mac introductions, drawing a clear line between these and the "Pros" to come. These are not for me, but I think they will sell well.

What‘s interesting to me about this is that it strongly suggests we’re going to see either the rumoured, mid-evel mini tower Mac or a new iMac Pro. This is very clearly a consumer-targeted machine.

I meant light, not white. They kept the chin as they needed it to house the CPU behind it, too thin to go anywhere else as the heat would affect the display. Nothing to do with fingerprints.
