It's not, and certainly not for the Mac. The way Touch ID works on the MacBook is absolutely awful.TouchID >>>> FaceID

So wait for the iMac Pro instead of their 'entry level' iMac.
There's a silver option on all models. You can keep that crap with those FRUITY colors! I don't mind the chin much, but give me a SPACE GRAY or BLACK option! No height adjustment or VESA mount, either?! Just tilting, huh? 🤮 NO THANKS. 🤮
For my needs, I would have preferred to be able to mount this iMac on a monitor mount. I like preserving desk space.
Also, couldn't they just make a 24" iPad Pro looking device with no chin?
FFS, this thing should FLOP but they'll likely sell millions of them. They certainly won't sell as many as they could have, though. I'll wait for something else.
The base model doesn't have itEthernet is built into every power adapter...
Clearly not.The iMac Pro is dead.
M1 can only drive 2 displays - one of which is built in. You’ll probably be able to use a USB-C to HDMI dongle on one of the TB ports. Adding a HDMI would have prevented the use of DisplayPort or Thunderbolt displays.it's not surprising but sad to see no HDMI inputmakes this a useless product for me.
VESA mount is available. No height adjustment or VESA mount, either?!
That was my primary question, and the reason why I can't buy one of these first day. If they announce a bigger one later this year with sane colour options, then I'd regret pulling the trigger now. So... crap.um, 24"? that's it? or are they giving us a second size option?..
Gold! So, the new imac is an ipad pro on a stick?
I mean...didn't they spend more money creating 2 adapters than they'll save by upselling anyone? The base model doesn't have it
I don't need to, what they advertise and what they deliver does not match. Can you point to internal Apple documents where that's stated?
Would love to see this. It'd bring touch ID to the mini and folks who use their Macbooks in clamshell mode.I want that Touch ID keyboard. Are they selling it separately/is it compatible with previous Macs??
Works great for me on my MacBook Pro. The FaceID is balls on my iPhone, half the time I need to enter my passcode because it's too dark for FaceID to work. TouchID all day or FaceID. Or, just have both. It's not, and certainly not for the Mac. The way Touch ID works on the MacBook is absolutely awful.
Why do you keep posting the same thing over and over? How do you not get it You realize that we are going to get a new iMac that is bigger more ports more powerful and more professional. This is good for most people. Lol. Not every machine is made for macrumors fanatics. This is meant to replace the 21 inch. Not the 27.
I’ll tell you why Apple has removed the logo: for the same reason they removed the “MacBook Pro” branding from the screen bezel of their 2015 models onwards; i.e. much like Steve Jobs and Jony Ive, there are a lot of logo-averse people at Apple, who are also so confident about their brand recognition that they don’t even feel like they have to have more than one (1) Apple logo per product. The “chin” is where all the tech is, speakers, logic board, cooling, it’s necessary, even if it’s ugly, not sure why they removed the logo
couldn't agree more. colors are garbage. screen size is lame. i had very high hopes for this guy once rumors surfaced that the display may be 32" or so... meh. That was my primary question, and the reason why I can't buy one of these first day. If they announce a bigger one later this year with sane colour options, then I'd regret pulling the trigger now. So... crap.
It appears, the upper tier models won’t arrive until at least late this year.um, 24"? that's it? or are they giving us a second size option?..
Yes, you can (just only at the time of system purchase). Thanks Apple for taking away choice, cant upgrade ram or ssd ect....
