I don't mind the chin.. I don't mind that is still has bezels... but white bezels? White bezels? Eek. And do we have to wait a year for the bigger size?? Hopefully just months?

Jesus, how stupid is the white bezel in all color variants. At least the silver and blue could have a black bezel. Glad I bought Mac mini M1. I don't like the box iPad like design either. Apple really is lazy designing their products. On the hardware side though it's a good development. But it's the software that make me buy an Apple product. They need to work more on that.

Hummm ok ... My current iMac is 27" with 64GB Ram, but the new one has 8GB and is the same as the Mac Mini M1 but in a 24" display ... I may as well just use my M1 MM get a larger external screen and forget the iMac. Shame. I had planned an update this year but I dont think I will now.

here's what's botherin me about the look of it.

The Chin: We've seen with the iPad Pro running basically the same stuff that there's absolutely zero reason for it. the contents of whats in that chin don't have to be there. They could easily make the whole iMac 50mm thicker, and move those things to the backside, where nobody would see it.

Otherwise, the new iMac could have just been an iPad on a wobbly thin looking stand (Looking, i'm sure it's fine)

also claiming of the largest/best webcam ever doesn't really bring me a lot of confidence considering that Apple's webcams have been some of the industry worst for years now.

We may see the larger iMac by October, this time powered by the M1X (or M2) SoC with up to (in my opinion!) 64 GB of RAM.

It's $200 for those 2 ports and they re-enable a GPU core they disabled, but its the same chip.

It's like buying a bunch of bananas and the grocery store saying you can get it for a few cents cheaper if we smash 2 of them. Or if you bought a car and they said they'd give you a discount if they smashed in 4 doors, hood and trunk.
It's not a GPU core intentionally disabled, it's using the binned GPU chips where 7 of them are sound and not 8.

Yields don't go 100 percent. It provides a way to use still-great chips and not let them go to waste.

The chin is marketing for sure - similar to the iPhone notch (that everyone also hates lol).

I like/understand both of those choices.

However, removing the logo from the chin.... a very bizarre decision.

apple marketing comparisons always amuse me

“up to 50 percent faster performance than the most powerful discrete graphics in the fastest 21.5-inch ‌iMac‌”

ie: up to 50 % faster than the years out of date garbage gpu we’ve been passing off on you

Agree with you on that, who uses 24" any longer...

I just hope the larger screen option when it comes is not labelled Pro or we can expect a significant price increase. Mac mini looking more appealing at the moment.

Larger display? M1x? Processor, RAM, SSD, Graphic options, space gray? Come on man. Either saving for the end of the announcements today or Apple missed the boat
No one reputable ever mentioned a larger than 24” model being released today, that was a concoction of people on these forums. Same goes for the M1X. Processor options? This isn’t Intel, this Apple Silicon. DRAM and SSD options are there. GPU options? Apple is committing to their own GPUs and that should be self explanatory as well. This is an integrated whole that people have had 6 months to get used to with the first wave of M1 Macs. No one should be surprised at what Apple introduced today.

Waited 10 years for an iMac redesign. That is the best Apple can do? What a disaster...

1- White bezels? Really?
2- Big ugly chin! I rather have a thicker iMac with a thinner Chin.
3- Only 8Gb upgradable to 16? We are in 2021. 16 should be default, upgradable to 32 at least.
4- No 28-30" Version. That is a big no-no. I cannot replace my current 27 with a smaller one.
5- Not able to adjust the vertical level. Still after waiting 10 years not able to do that is pathetic.
6- Same processor than the iPad. Is the iMac now an iPad with a big monitor?
6- Ugly colors are a question of taste. Still no space gray or black option.

Once again, Apple design is NOT up to the year we are in 2021.

I guess I have to keep waiting.
