Dang, very nice! I really wish I had a use for one of these but have no reason to replace or add to my sometimes-docked M1 Air.

Sigh..

Not a fan of front ports. Would've loved a clean and tiny Mac mini box with no front ports. Many will be pleased. This is how it goes. Cool tech all the same.
Amazing the number of people that put form over function. Personally, reaching around the back to plug in a USB device is a pain in the butt, especially if the Mini is under or behind my monitor. Front-facing ports are on every desktop PC in existence and make total sense here.

this new model looks great and with the ram and other spec bumps I think I would of chose this over the Mac Studio M2.

I AM SCREAMING WITH JOY! Love the pro option in the Mac mini. I was afraid we wouldn't get it.

This is an upgrade from an i7 2018 Mac mini. I think I'll see the speed boost!

Nice update, good that they finally realised this thing needs ports on the front.

Not sure what to make of the UK pricing, Pro model starts at £1400. You really need to go in at £800 to get a decent model as the base is still 256gb.

EDIT: Pro model is same price as the outgoing model.

Very impressive.

Likely trading in my base M2 Studio for an M4 Pro mini with 64GB and either 1 or 2TB storage. I made a mistake and only got 512G and have hit that limit a few times moving VMs and music around this past year. D'oh!

I'd also argue that it looks nicer this way with the ports on the front too, though of course that is subjective.

Bit weird having the headphone jack on the front. As someone who often has their mini plugged in to my amp, and likes their setup to look wire free, it's a bit off putting
Some people would want it in the back, some in the front. Everyone can't be happy. I'm assuming most people use the headphone jack for "headphones" – and then you probably want it in the front. I totally get why they went for that option. (But I've no problem seeing why someone might prefer it in the back.)

Another argument is that there isn't really much room in the back. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Soft power on keyboard I assume. Pretty much all you need?

Depends on the keyboard, no?

I still have a old IBM Model-M as my desktop (sometimes docked m1 air) keyboard connected via a usb to ps/2 adapter. I wonder if it would power on a device?

I still balk at paying £200 for 256GB of extra storage... I find that criminal and I'd like to have words with the specific person at Apple who signs off on that level of gouging.. but I do want one.
This is Apple ensuring that people have to upgrade faster! Why not charge $100 and still make $96 in profit?
