Installed Safari 5.. noticed that it removed my 1Password button, anyone know if it is safe to put back or should I wait for them to come out with an extension?

I was happy that Click-to-Flash is still there :D

<edit>

Just opened 1Password and found out that there is already an update to address Safari 5 support.. wow, that was fast!!

1password has an update for safari 5.

Hmm, downloaded it, feels a bit faster, some changes in the history & top sites interface..

I love the reader mode but for the love of Jobs can they (or anyone else) please make a plugin/extension to force Safari to treat all images as untagged sRGB like FF3.5?!

I use a wide gamut display and I'm forced to use Firefox unless I want eye-popping crayola colors for 90% of my web browsing.

Just updated my Safari, and I have to say I'm really glad the blue loading bar is back! Other than that, the Reader thing is cool, though I'm not sure how much I'll be using it, if at all.

As far as speed is concerned, so far I haven't felt it was any faster than the previous version of Safari at all, though it did score better on Peacekeeper benchmarks (still not on par with Chrome though).

Another thing worth mentioning is the "smart address bar" - it was about time Apple did something about it, as previously it sucked - plain and simple. Yet now it seems quite a bit more convenient than before, so kudos to Apple.

Thanks Apple for bringing the "Extensions" option too, it will definitely have an impact on how people perceive Safari from now on.

Btw, wasn't there talk about "tabs options"? I haven't noticed any change in this department...

Wow . . . I gotta say, Safari 5 is the same speed if not faster then firefox! Anyone else amazed??? Next test, Opera vs. Safari.

Edit: Safari Win!

How are you guys getting the Reader to work? :(

press 'reader' at top far right of address bar. same to return to page.

AWESOME feature. apple is so good at making things work for people like it should. yes, this is a webpage with an article on it, it also has 9000 other frames with dancing singing jumping ads and polls and links and blah blah blah... i just want to READ an article.

nice job again apple with keeping your eyes on the prize.

Love the reader ... great for these tired old eyes. I was using the zoom feature in the OS to read some of the articles.

Progress bar is great ... can tell where the loading is hung up easier.

Seems ... umm ... Ok ... much "snappier"! ... I've been watching the CPUs balance with iStat and seeing very even work loads with Safari 5.

Bull***t.

I can upgrade the firmware for the NIC and SCSI/SAS controllers, and their drivers, on my Windows systems without requiring a reboot.

It's pretty sad if OSX makes you reboot for an application library update.

Is it really a big deal? "Issues deal with you must" says Yoda.

Safari 5 Released in apple.com.au

I 've already downloaded and run new safari 5 at 1:33 pm Sydney time

Cheers,

Rio

For me it's just appearing on pages where it matters.

I'm still getting zero hits from Reader.

Safari Reader = iBooks Reading?

My guess is that iBooks will will eventually support RSS feeds :) the format seems familiar to my iPad. What do you all think?

Nice but takes 4-6 sec more to charge MacRumors home page than Safari 4

with 9 mb de broadband

Cheers

ugh finally last safari was horrible and got constant spinning non loading pages..seems faster already with the sites i normally check out..hopefully it stays this way..i was ready to toss my blackbook out the window so much this year with snow leopards problems.

Feels a little quicker for me. I have a PowerBookG4. I have noticed that it feels a little smoother. I don't use any other browsers on a regular basis. Happy with it so far. :)

Youtube videos under H.264 now work like they are supposed to. No more thumbnails on the left side of the screen and now reliable navigation from one video to the next. Awesome!

This may sound dumb, but THANK YOU APPLE for giving me back the aqua lading bar in the address field!!! It is SOO MUCH BETTER!!! :D It gives you an indication of percentage complete when loading instead of a useless circle spinning around! And it matches mobile Safari again now :)
