Feel sorry for the people who bought the first gen AW since series 2 is what the first gen should've been.
Nah, do you feel sorry for those who bought the iPhone 3 because the first gen should have had 3G. Do you feel sorry for all the 4-6's because the 7 is finally more waterproof and they all should have been?

Oh no, no word on battery life.

Incredibly modest upgrade imho.

That has been Apple's development cycle for years. No surprise here. Keeps customers happy that their products don't look completely outdated in less than a year.

The Nike Plus thing is bizarre. So if I want those things, I need to buy the Nike version of the watch? Strange that they didn't just make it an app.

99.9% positive that the Nike models are just custom bands and a watch face.

I mean, never mind that we got to use it all this time. That clearly holds no value, right?

Swim proof is a big deal. Other watches say water resistance, but when pressed don't advise swimming with it due to the motion possibly getting water in it. Now I can get warranty work on it and not have to lie about swimming with it.

How about the bezels? There were some rumors that they slightly made them smaller, I was hoping that was the case. Apple always hides them with dark apps, so it's hard to tell. Otherwise it looks the same, same thickness but more battery and thinner display right?

I really like the new hardware, but $369? That'll mean $419 for the 42mm one which will translate to €469 if they have mercy... That's nearly 20% more expensive, I don't know if I can justify that for myself. I really think that they should've gone with $299, also regarding their market share...

They think they are competing with Rolex not fitbit.

Agreed. Too expensive. I'd like something to swim with but $369 is simply too much. Fitbit's new Flex 2 is $99. Tomtom has the MultiSport GPS watch for only $99.

Yet Apple comes out with $369 when the app field for the watch has all but died. Its simply too much $ for the added function.

Does it show the time when you look at it?

I just switched to a Gear S2 (and Galaxy... just to see what I'm missing :p) and I cannot tell you how much more useful the watch is when you can just look down and see the time on the always-on display. Granted I had to turn that feature on and it eats more battery, but I can still get through the day on a full charge.

(I'll switch back when the Apple Watch gets OLED and a cellular connection)

Even the original Apple Watch had an OLED display. I'm guessing that's a big part of the reason it doesn't leave the display on all the time: as mom always says, "you keep [using] that [watch] face, it'll get stuck like that!"

so when is the series 2 watch available? all i saw was pre-order september 9th
Release is generally 1 week after pre-order date. Only exceptions to that trend have been initial product reveal (Original Watch announcement, Original iPhone annoucnement, etc) and last year's iPhone 6s release, but the 6S release had an oddity due to not wanting to start pre-orders on 9/11, but instead on the weekend.

SOLD.

My first gen watch is currently cracked. I'm replacing it launch day, no questions asked. This with the AirPods and I'm one happy camper.

The Series 2 is a mighty improvement on the first gen. I gotta figure out how I'm gonna pay for the upgrade but I'm definitely interested in that white ceramic model.

Meh. I bought my AW used about a month ago with the intention of selling it and buying the new one when it comes out. Really not crazy about a price increase, especially since most of the performance issues have been resolved with watchOS 3.

GPS isn't a big selling point since I always have my phone on me. I got silver and would prefer black, plus more waterproofing would be nice. But neither of those is a must have. We'll see but I can't see taking the hit on my current AW and then adding $250 more just to get the newer one.

i have the original watch and i am like crying right now smh this model is so much better

Every new Hermès comes with a separate Hermès Sport Band. They are really pushing the waterproof feature.:)

Still no phone capability, which is such a wasted opportunity to expand the reach of Apple Watch beyond fitness.

Meh, I'll wait for the Watch 3, nothing worth caring about in this upgrade.

I'm not a fan of the whole smart watch thing, I just don't need another device bugging me etc.
But to be fair, this does seem like a big improvement. Only thing they forgot it to actually make it thinner. Because, online iPhones, it does need to be thinner ie. better looking.

Didn't the AW1 originally start at $450? Now it's down to $369 for the latest AW2. This is proof that no one is buying these things. Apple flop.

The ceramic models are now the "Edition" and start at $1299 with the sport band. And the Hermès models all come with a separate Hermès Sport band standard. Nice up-market models.

Please no... I have had an Apple Watch for a year and have not had any desire to make a phone call with it. That would be pretty rude for anyone around trying to not hear your whole conversation. It will kill battery, and cost more to operate. As long as its an extension to your phone, that seems unnecessary.
