$400 for the iPad Mini? No Touch ID? No multi-user accounts?Hello Nexus 7.
Biggest problem I have with the current iPad is the bulk and weight. Well the new one is 40% thinner and almost 30% lighter, this is gonna help a lot with holding it for reading and stuff.
So.. iPad Air got better dimensions and weight, and that's about it. Same processor as a phone. It may be a great processor, but iPad pushes a lot more pixels. Will it even be as fast?
Better wifi is pointless. It's wifi was already faster than the internet pipe, the limiting factor. No better camera. Same crippling base storage size. No fingerprint sensor. Probably same RAM (have to wait for a tear down).
Pretty incremental upgrade overall. Hardly impressive.
Your math teacher just committed suicide.

Big, huge, monstrous mistake.
Rename your flagship product, are you kidding me.
'iPad' was not good enough?
Why? 0.4lbs lighter is 0.4/1.4 = 28% which I rounded off to 30%. The thickness thing I read somewhere else, stand corrected on that.

No Touch ID - no sell for me I'm afraid.
There are two reasons they changed the name.
1) They will introduce a bigger iPad at some point.
2) They now are creating a lot of buzz. Instead of people going 'oh is that the new iPad?' They will know it is the new iPad because it now has a new name!!! People will be all 'you see that new iPad Air??'. Much more interesting than just 'hey did you see the new iPad 5th generation' lol.
Why would anyone buy the iPad 2nd gen for $100 less than the 5th gen?
Surely far better off buying a used 4th gen for the same money
If you haven't noticed the trend yet, it's following MacBook's nomenclature.Nope, just iPad. Notice there is no plain iPad now, so I imagine that will take this newly vacated space.
A feature exactly nobody was clamoring for a few months ago is suddenly a deal breaker?
But 40 percent thinner?? (EDIT: Or do you mean narrower? Maybe I misunderstood this...)
