Each square represents Apple's future fading into history as they're passed by the likes of Amazon, Samsubg, etc. #

Nothing beats the sofa, with a glass of wine or pint of bear! That's where I will watch it, UK time 6PM ;)

Just a pint? You are truly a Spartan. Personally, I could see myself downing a few, maybe calling an escort afterwards. :D

Sad but I'll be taking the day off work to watch the keynote

Sad is one word....

----------

I know everything says that the iPhone 6 is supposed to come out this Fall... but does anyone else get the feeling it might come earlier? like... that it might be announced during this WWDC?? I know I'm definitely getting that feeling... To me, it makes sense for Apple to update their mobile devices more often than before, to better compete with the competition...

Competition?...there isnt any! Apple rocks!!!

----------

I know! The quiet is making me think either 1) Apple is going to be releasing some AWESOME products this year or 2) Apple is beginning to run out of ideas to differentiate themselves. We keep hearing Tim say Apple is "more innovative than ever" but being innovative behind closed doors and being innovate with the products that hit consumers are 2 different things.

Every product is AWESOME!!!...why should this year be any different?..

Horrible idea, it completely cuts out small developers.

Not if the block for "big rich developers" is small compared to the total.

Apple has an obvious vested interest in the developers who bring the most gross revenue into their App stores (as they get a 30% cut), as well as the featured apps that they can advertise as not on Android, et.al.

Hobby devs who just do flashlight and fart apps, or only play with beta OS builds, not so much.

I didn't see this posted, so here's the transcript of the announcement for everyone to dissect:

"Over the past six years, a massive cultural shift has occurred. It's changed how we interact with one another. Learn new things. Entertain ourselves. Do our work. And live our daily lives. All because of developers and the apps they create.

For five days, one thousand Apple engineers and five thousand developers will gather together. And life will be different as a result.

Write the code. Change the world.
"

Someone else mentioned it already but I agree. It sounds like they will be announcing an Apple TV SDK. If that's true, I'm not sure if that means an updated Apple TV would be released before or after that. I would guess before to give the masses time to learn the new user interface (assuming there is one), but I'll freely admit that's wishful thinking.

Dear Jony Ive,
please, oh please, don't delegate your Human UX design work of OSX to the marketing team again. They will do the same as with iOS, copy what Microsoft is doing and we will end up with chromeless windows with square edges in an really ugly palette and a slower and buggy OS.

Have mercy

Thanks

Mmm.. cos the my little pony colour palette of ios7 is yummy...

Exactly and each square also represents the number of years it would've taken for each of these companies to become innovative on their own if Apple never came to life. ;)

It's actually a quote from Picasso that Steve Jobs stated. I'll inform you what it means, so you don't improperly use it again.

To merely copy is to take an existing interpretation and not run away with it. To steal an idea is to take something of value and make it yours. To make an artistic element yours you have to interpret it your way with your own approach.

Google for the meaning behind what Picasso said. Picasso didn't mean he STOLE other's paintings, he STOLE other ideas and re-invented them himself.

Of course, you'll just continually apply the quote to suit your needs, I understand.

I didn't see any hardware mentions in the announcement.

Come on, it's not like Apple to say 'New MacBook Airs' on the announcement, is it? Everything is quiet. But usually, WWDC includes a few updates. Hopefully a new Apple TV!

Ahhh.. I entered for the first time. I am able to go this time around.

As for the invite. It's your typical Apple Rorschach test.

It's whatever you see in it.

The changes in shape in the line of tiles on top of the apple logo remind me of a heart monitoring signal... It goes also well with the "life" reference in the invite.

Horrible idea, it completely cuts out small developers.

No it does not.

The concept has three enrollment categories.

1) A scholarship / merit list where you pitch your app / product concept. Admission is based on the app design judged by the robe clad secret circle at the center of Infinite Loop during a full moon shining into the courtyard stage.

2) The lottery as described in this years enrollment. I'd like to see a third party audit of this selection process to see how truly random it is and if a black and / or white list exists.

3) A limited amount of tickets going to the highest bidder in a free-for-all, throw-your-bravado-out and skip-this-years-BWM-model auction with the amount raised above conference price going to charity. I'm sure eBay would love to host this.

Right now this lottery in fact punishes successful and cash rich developers equating them with dilettantes that haven't proven their worth in the market. To equate small time / unproven developers with those who wrote major apps for a conference registration is socialism at its worst.

I know for a fact, there was a (just imploded) cottage industry of people paid to monitor the announcement of WWDC to get their client registered in the short window.

"There are four boxes that drive society: the cash box, the soap box, the ballot box and the ammunition box. Use them in that order. The more those boxes are restricted shows the repression in that society." -- John Doe

Hopefully not

I'm sure there will be some minimalism input into 10.10 but not as radical as iOS 7. Also my crystal ball guess is that iOS 8 will not be as minimalist as iOS 7 with some shading and frames but not as baroque as iOS 6 and before.

I find it so ironic that people say Apple is doomed or Apple can't innovate anymore yet developers are clamoring to get tickets to their developer conference so they can develop new apps and software for Apple's forthcoming products. Doesn't seem like any other company is selling tickets out faster than Apple. ;)
