I'm pretty disappointed with the lottery. I really was hoping to go this year and believe that I could have gotten a ticket in the first minute or whatever. I don't believe I'll win a lottery. I think the previous way worked fine. Prioritizes the people that are truly motivated and willing to go for it the second tickets are available.

That wouldn't move their stock one way or the other. Amazon sells billions every year and pretty much breaks even and in most cases loses money. So basically Amazon runs it's business like the US Govt. :p

Hence why I think it's not a big deal. As someone in my twitter feed tweeted this morning, they don't want another box, they want their current box to provide better content.

WWDC announcements are Rorschach tests for nerds. They tell you more about the person than the event.

I know everything says that the iPhone 6 is supposed to come out this Fall... but does anyone else get the feeling it might come earlier? like... that it might be announced during this WWDC?? I know I'm definitely getting that feeling... To me, it makes sense for Apple to update their mobile devices more often than before, to better compete with the competition...

I’ve been wondering about this for a little while too. Think about it: the iWatch needs iOS 8 and the two are supposed to have a major fitness element. But a new fitness device in the fall? Better to release something like that in spring/ summer, no?

And there’s no way they release iOS 8 without the new iPhone.

Sorry but no. No chance in the world! New iPhone get's released with the new iOS! And new iOS needs several months testing until released!

You think Steve is the only one that could/can do that at Apple? If so then I guess Apple is truly f'd.

Don't get me wrong. Apple have a ton of smart, innovative people who are quite capable of developing great products. I'm just not sure whether any of them can "inspire" others to excellence in quite the same way that Steve could.

I see a puppy, a dancing woman in ethnic african costume, and a map of China.

What does it mean?!

Pardon my ignorance; and I agree that they would never release iOS 8 without the new iPhone… but when was the several months of testing for the first four iPhones that were released in the summer?

They showed off the iOS version before the release dates, and had betas up to release. Much like now, just earlier.

The betas for iOS 4 (and 3?) were released in April, with the final iOS releases and the corresponding iPhones released in late June IIRC.

Since iOS 5 / iPhone 4S, the releases have come in September/October timeframe.

Yes. Nothing like a pint of beer to quench the thirst.

That's still 2 months away, this everything at 2nd half of the year thing needs to change.

I didn't see any hardware mentions in the announcement.

They haven't done that at WWDC since '09 or something. If they were doing hardware, they would have released an iOS 8 beta this month so developers could try it in time for the next iPhone launch.

I think the "tiles" in the logo are representing the square of apple TV
