It's great for watching older 4:3 TV series though. I hope that Apple doesn't change the aspect ratio, because 4:3(-ish) is better for almost everything but movies.I never enjoyed watching movies / videos on iPad because of the aspect ratio of the device. Even with bigger screen you get smaller picture with huge black lines. Especially if movie itself is in 2.35:1 CinemaScope format.
Just add two notches, problem solved. The problem with a notch/whatever is that, while in the iPhone there’s a clear default orientation (many things are even disabled on landscape, including the homescreen), there’s no “right orientation” on the iPad.
Unlikely. 61 million iPads were sold in 2022 vs. only 26 million Macs and MacBooks.I’m sure most iPad users are not only familiar with macOS but also have an iMac or MacBook.
Apple. The problem isn't your hardware. It's your software. Until they figure out how ( or have the guts to do it ) to put macOS on an iPad I grow less and less interested in an iPad. I use my phone more and more in its place. It's feeling like a third wheel in the laptop / phone relationship.
Apple sold more than twice as many iPads in 2022 than Macs and MacBooks combined. I don’t see how that means that it's dead. You’re eventually going to have to accept that the iPad is in decline and will become an irrelevant. The paradigm is dead, and all the “what’s a computer” marketing in the world couldn’t manage to convince everyone of its usefulness.
I’m curious to see if a 14” iPad will be carrying a Dynamic Island. Along with no bezels. 🤨

People are buying bigger iPhones. MacOS is still superior. And with things like Vision Pro becoming available it’s only a matter of time before the iPad goes the way of the iPod touch. Which is funny because indeed, everyone was correct in 2010, the iPad has proven itself to be nothing more than an oversized iPod touch. People bought units anyway, but that doesn’t validate its existence.
It only get worse from here for iPad fans. It never fit. It never will fit. 🪦🪦🪦
Different aspect ratio, not quite comparable. Here's a 14.1" 4:3 iPad (blue) vs. a 15" 16:9 laptop (green):15 inch or NO DEAL. 15 is best screen size for laptop computers ask any YouTuber.
And majority of them are basic iPads. Not even AirsUnlikely. 61 million iPads were sold in 2022 vs. only 26 million Macs and MacBooks.
I'm not sure that statistic is useful - for one thing, a family may have one iMac but two, three ipads. Moreover, people may use their desktops and macbooks for longer, perhaps upgrading iphones and ipads at a faster rate. Finally, many people probably encounter macos at work. Of course every case is different but you can't throw a rock without hitting an iMac or macbook in the university setting anyway. I contend it would be rare someone who even only owns an iPad has not had practical experience using macos on someone else's or a work machineUnlikely. 61 million iPads were sold in 2022 vs. only 26 million Macs and MacBooks.
Which “horizontal“ side? They're putting the camera on the horizontal side now, though.
The same horizontal side as the iPad 10.Which “horizontal“ side?
Most? Not likely. Apple’s said that half of the folks buying iPads are new to Apple. Considering how Apple roughly sells twice as many iPad units as Mac units, that’s a very large number of folks not interested in macOS.That’s disingenuous - I’m sure most iPad users are not only familiar with macOS but also have an iMac or MacBook. Some people just use the iPads differently than others
It’s been clear for awhile that the iPad is more important than macOS for Apple. Folks not paying close attention will see that iPad revenue is, yearly, within a few percent, usually lower, than the Mac revenue and think that means Macs are still king. But, one must consider that most iPads sell for well under the highest selling Macs and, EVEN selling for cheaper, the revenue still rivals the Mac. That’s a massive number of unit sales per year. Adding to that, the iPad is more likely to yield after-sale services revenue, which means a good chunk of the huge services pie (after iPhone) is due to the iPad, not the Mac.Unlikely. 61 million iPads were sold in 2022 vs. only 26 million Macs and MacBooks.
