“Big government’ is a stupid insane rightwing myth. You have the most scams, the most white collar crimes, 💩 education standards, the most corrupt lobbyists and most violence of any country in the developed world and people are literally screaming that the US government does nothing on the education and regulation level to prevent this stuff. The US literally has the most light handed government in the modern world.
Hey everyone, ArPe says big government is a myth. The approaching $29,000,000,000,000 national debt alone says otherwise. Also, pointing to education as an example makes my point. Take a look at educational outcomes in the U.S. since education was "nationalized" by the creation of the Department of Education in 1979.

Perhaps if people would stop kneeling at the alter of big, centralized government, spending and debt wouldn't be so out of control, and there could be accountability for bad education at the local level WHERE IT BELONGS!

But we can't have real conversations because you have declared "MYTHS!!", backing it with no facts... just like shutting down individuals on a platform with differing views, and entire platforms because your feelings are hurt.

Based on the hateful PMs coming in (and I've reported you, don't worry), I think some on this thread would be stunned to learn that the company they adore, the products they worship, the software/hardware they live on... is not generally staffed by anyone with their conservative/right-wing values.

Apple is a safe space for tens of thousands of liberal-minded employees working in every department. I worked there for 7 years, and many of the friendships I made are lifelong. I'm as liberal as I am in large part because of the Apple family I worked with over the years.

Think different works on multiple levels - some of you want the latest gadget in your pocket, but would prefer it's 1953 outside your door. Be more open-minded.

Yes, the military's spending needs to be drastically cut. I'm glad we agree.

That debt literally exists to keep the economy afloat and protect your interests globally otherwise global resources would be grabbed by someone else and you’ll be eating dirt for breakfast.

Learn something about geo politics and economics. No wonder you’re supporting rightwing illiterates and fascist pigs.

BTW, an analysis of Parler’s leaked data revealed half the Q posts came from Russian and Chinese operations. You literally being brainwashed to attack your own government and your own country people. Go look in the mirror after you read this paragraph and look in your eyes and tell yourself how smart you are.

Actually, the debt exists because politicians on both sides load every single bill for anything with bloated pork side projects to pay back their donors. If the current debt keeps spiraling like it is, your kids will be eating dirt for breakfast.

500+ people waiting in the stairs to push down the door and enter a secure area of federal building while you have riots outside with teargas, and other deterrents being used, and you have an unknown jumping through the window. They were lucky it was only one that got shot. While I don't like using the "if it was..." quote, if these insurgents were darker in color, there would have been a lot more than one dead.
"I don't like using the 'if it was...' quote," but I'm going to go ahead and do it because the utterly unsubstantiated point will be so unifying and helpful.

Meanwhile, we have countless examples of similar events where not "a lot more" were left dead (i.e. zero). Portland ICE building, Democratic Party of Oregon building, Courthouse in Seattle, and oh, that inauguration day of big bad orange man.

None of them stormed the Capitol in search of congress members.

Next argument...

Mob storming a building compared to stopping a single person?

"Mob" mostly walking through taking pictures and talking to cops in the building, to include selfies.

A MOB is what you saw on the news last night in one of many cities in the US. You will see the same tonight and tomorrow night. They are the ones shooting at the National Guard (last night) through the car window. They are the ones burning down businesses and looting them.

He died as a direct result of thousands of qidiot followers storming the Capitol.
Do you have SINGLE piece of evidence to back that fake news up?

He collapsed after returning to the police station. He texted his family, before collapsing, that he was fine and the only issue he had was catching some pepper spray. He died a day later in the hospital. After the fake news outlets pulled back their fake claims of him being hit in the head by "Insurgents" it was stated, by his brother that they think he died of an aneurysm.

As long as there are other platforms for consumers to move to -- and there are -- tech companies should be legally free to moderate content in any way they see fit. Otherwise, even common-sense content moderation like what we see on this site would be impossible without subjecting the site owners to potential liability for illegal content. The web would not function very well if that were the rule.

To be sure, this means that tech companies sometimes will moderate in a way that we disagree with, and it may even inconvenience us (for example, Parler users who had to turn to the web rather than to an app). But that's what it means to have speech that is free from government intervention.
I wish section 230 would be reexamined. You're right, the web would not function if that were the rule, so be it. Social media is the single most damaging thing to soceity. If what people say on other platforms requires the platform is liable reduces the freedom of social media, I'm all for it.

I agree as well, right after we make military service a mandatory requirement for men and women. Say 2 years just like many other countries do.

You can report to boot camp next month. Its super fun and that was back in my day. I hear it's a tad watered down these days so maybe not as exciting but probably easier. You maybe able to bring your iPhone.

I voted for him as well, and he was NOT a great guy/person but I had believed in most of his administrations policies long before he was president. (border lock down, pulling out of the middle east, US/China trade situation etc, etc,).

Mr Weekend at Bernies part two...aka Biden is a complete joke when it comes to policy. The border is wide open and he is killing jobs already. The price of gas has gone up over $1 a gallon in my area since he took over. At least he is or whomever is pulling his puppet strings is getting out of Afghanistan.
So many fallacies. Where should one start?

Gas prices are, gasp, going up since the demand is higher. Also, gas prices started going up under trump. Gas prices were over $2.20 on September. They are now at just under $2.90. So, they went up $0.70 since September. The prices started going up un December.

At least you recognized he's getting out of Afghanistan, which is something you voted for with trump and he failed miserably at doing it.

trump did literally nothing with trade with China except tariffs which increased consumer costs, unless you're one of the people who believe that Gyna somehow pays for tariffs?

As far as jobs goes, Biden has added jobs, not "killing" them. His first quarter saw a total of 379,000 jobs created. trump's last quarter saw 49,000 jobs created.

You'll need to come up with better bullet points to lay out since they're pretty much completely incorrect.

I just want you to back any of your claims with facts. YOU stated that you didn't like to use a comparison then went ahead and did it, with no facts or statistics to back it up. Then your argument back is that it was qualified by a certain classification of people. OK then, how about the events following Trump's convention speech last year?

As long as the people who create this law have their children line up as the first to serve, which we know elected officials, especially republicans, won't allow as seen by the Iraq invasion.

Stormed....walked, stopped took pictures, selfies with the cops, burned down...oh wait no fires....bricked police cars....oh wait that did not happen either.

If social media was not a thing, that crowd probably would have been 1/4 of the size. Between self promoters and people there just to capture it on social media, they probably made up 3/4 of the crowd.

Rich kids don't fight wars, unless they're an officer. Hell, middle class kids don't fight wars... it's old, rich men sending young, poor men to die. My dad held two degrees and was at MIT during Vietnam, when I registered for the draft as is required for all 18 year old males (this being 2002), he tells me "very noble, but just so you know, you're on the first plane out if they ever do that again, no son of mine is dying for a bunch of hawkish republicans who never saw their best friends killed."

It's impossible to point to similar situations because... no one but republican terrorists stormed a federal building looking for elected officials. Hell, look at what happened in Michigan when they tried to force the opening of the state? You think darker skinned people, given the history of bias and use of force within police forces, would have been treated with open doors had they attempted the same thing? If they were wearing muslim clothing, you think they would have been treated the same way? You can honestly say you believe that?

My relatives live in Portland, OR, where the left-wing thugs burned and burglarized the city and stormed the Federal Courthouse for half a year in 2020. Therefore Instagram and Twitter must be taken off the App Store immediately.
