Technically, they were there to overthrow the elected government of the United States, execute the elected leaders and replace democracy with an unelected dictatorship.
Lol. What happened on Capitol Hill was a few dudes dressed like Conan the Fauxbarian acting like fools and occasionally fighting with the cops while a few hundred other dudes took selfies in the Rotunda.

Nazism, the alt right and Qanon isn’t diversity. They literally want to end diversity and force religion down your throat. By gunpoint if they could.

If ISIS or the Taleban were doing the exact same thing (to the letter) you can bet all the white ‘Republicans’ would be going mad about it. But it’s one rule for white extremists and another rule for brown extremists.
Forcing the religion of big government is OK though (alt left)? Ironic considering the only entity that actually has the sanctioned rule at gunpoint IS the government.

To my knowledge, Parler was not picking and choosing who could post there based on their skin color.

Good Job Apple, as much as it is a echo chamber for conservatives, so is Facebook, Reddit, Twitter for other ideologies. etc. All social media can be good, all can be toxic, it's not up to the tech giants to decide. They are the new town square, they aren't the publishers or moderators of it all. If they decide to play moderator, then they should be held liable for anything on their platforms.
As long as there are other platforms for consumers to move to -- and there are -- tech companies should be legally free to moderate content in any way they see fit. Otherwise, even common-sense content moderation like what we see on this site would be impossible without subjecting the site owners to potential liability for illegal content. The web would not function very well if that were the rule.

To be sure, this means that tech companies sometimes will moderate in a way that we disagree with, and it may even inconvenience us (for example, Parler users who had to turn to the web rather than to an app). But that's what it means to have speech that is free from government intervention.

Was the election stolen or were there any gross abnormalities? The answer you give will determine if I continue this conversation.
I would say not it was not stolen at all. The abnormalities were normal...maybe a bit higher but directly in relation to the higher voter turn out.

Of course I think, and I have thought this way for at least 20 years, that voter ID and some other steps should be taken to eliminate as much of the abnormalities as possible. I think the changes GA made are a step in the right direction.

Good. If they're following the rules who cares? Let people discuss what they want as long as they're not blatantly utilizing harmful hate speech to each other. We need to have these talks. Not everyone will think the same. Letting folks discuss elections and conspiracies shouldn't be a big deal. I don't use Parler but those who want to should be able to.

“Big government’ is a stupid insane rightwing myth. You have the most scams, the most white collar crimes, 💩 education standards, the most corrupt lobbyists and most violence of any country in the developed world and people are literally screaming that the US government does nothing on the education and regulation level to prevent this stuff. The US literally has the most light handed government in the modern world.

If you are that going to be that blind and biased I can't help you.

He had spoken with people on both sides for his American Relief plan, and even after making compromises, not a single Republican voted for it, I fear the same thing will happen with the infrastructure bill. If they are stubbornly going to just try and stall everything and not do their jobs just because it was put forth by a Democrat then I say steamroll over them and forget it. He has been acting in good faith and the other side just laughs and spits on him.

Putting our country trillions more in debt is relief??...and do you really think its about infrastructure? ...As your hero Joe would say "come on man!"

I don't think you know what technically means. You can cry all you want about how the facts are hurting your feelings, but no attempt to execute a bunch of elected leaders is going to feature a dude in a bison hat, with no weapons, and with the guards just letting a ton of them walk right on in. I mean, it sounds good and all, looks great when you post it up on the forums and probably your twitter account, but no reasonable person should be falling for that line of thought. Did it get a bit scary for some of them, sure, masses of people are extremely unpredictable and that scares people. Being scared doesn't mean people were coming in to try and execute you.

Recordings from the blue lives matter crew state otherwise. Also, that whole dead police officer and all.

Yeah and what was he charged with....trespassing? Destroying government property. I bet 99% of the people that were there never see a day of jail time, with most getting trespassing charges at best.
Richard Barnett is still in jail, having been denied bail because he's considered an "ongoing and specific threat." His 18-page indictment contains at least 8 charges, including entering a restricted building with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct in a restricted building with a deadly weapon. His court date is May 4. You may be right that 99% of the people there will never see a day of jail time, but the ones who were actively trying to subvert democracy and harm public officials are going to have plenty of time behind bars to think about their seditious actions.

Not my hero, I didn't vote for him or the last guy. I'm just not in favor of a gridlocked government and at least he is trying to do something besides ranting on twitter all day and night.

Debt is unfortunately needed to help get people and business back on their feet.

And yes it's about infrastructure. Something that has been neglected for too many years and is drastically needed.

Diversity is diversity. Can’t pick and choose who you allow.
Of course you can. You pick and choose those that follow the App Store rules and you reject those that don't. Parler didn't follow the rules, they TOLD Apple that they were not going to follow the rules, so they were removed. They promised now to follow the rules, so they are back on.

This comment is not left leaning or right leaning, and I am not saying one thing is right and another wrong. I am not defending any “side”. CosmoCopus, if you want to relieve your stress about “trillions in debt” then if you study global economics at a large scale from many sources you will likely not have near as much anxiety. This also might lead to a lot of other insights that would make your day to day life much happier. But I know it is a lot of work. I love learning new things and have continued taking college courses throughout my career cause I am a bit of a nerd :p and I know everyone is not like me. But if you truly are worried about our national debt and how ”more debit is relief”, I do feel like more education could really help your perspective. Not convince you of being right or wrong about what you think right now, but based on how you are representing the information, it feels like you just don’t understand things in a full way.

Now just imagine if Epic Games would be as reasonable as Parler. They too could come back. All it takes is to promise to follow the rules.

Well I did vote for the last guy and he was a superior president compared to Biden.. twitter rants and all. If you don't vote you can't complain.

So far the NYT and other news reports have had to retract their comments about him being killed by "the insurgents" because it is now looking like natural causes. However of the 5 people that died his cause of death has not been released yet.

Of the 4 others, you had two heart attacks, and a drug overdose (all three could have happened anywhere) and the 4th ruled a homicide after she was shot and killed by a "unknown" capital police officer. So right now we have one death related to that event. On that death charges were dropped which is beyond me? From the video I saw of the shooting, it did not look like the "unknown" police officer was threatened in any way when he shot through the door killing the woman. Unlike any other cop involved in this kind of thing, the "media' outs them immediately and non-stop for days and days. I guess this cop is not going to have his life ripped apart by the media. Funny how that happened.

500+ people waiting in the stairs to push down the door and enter a secure area of federal building while you have riots outside with teargas, and other deterrents being used, and you have an unknown jumping through the window. They were lucky it was only one that got shot. While I don't like using the "if it was..." quote, if these insurgents were darker in color, there would have been a lot more than one dead.

I voted for him as well, and he was NOT a great guy/person but I had believed in most of his administrations policies long before he was president. (border lock down, pulling out of the middle east, US/China trade situation etc, etc,).

Mr Weekend at Bernies part two...aka Biden is a complete joke when it comes to policy. The border is wide open and he is killing jobs already. The price of gas has gone up over $1 a gallon in my area since he took over. At least he is or whomever is pulling his puppet strings is getting out of Afghanistan.

I did vote, just not for them. There are more than 2 people on a ballot, which if more people realized maybe we could dig our way out of this two party system.

Trump wouldn't have been as bad if he could have learned to keep his mouth shut and stay off of twitter. But his ego kept falling for the media's baiting. It's hardly the media's fault he made himself such an easy target. Every other president before and now after has handled it better.

I get the fear when there is a bunch of people but let's judge all police the same way. Was there a threat to your life that required deadly force? Did you have prior knowledge of a violent criminal history, say a warrant out for your arrest from a violent crime that caused you to use deadly force?

Mob storming a building compared to stopping a single person?
