If you go by the color spectrum, that's pretty much the truth of it. White people are non-colored.

...or at least we would be if we were truly white. Most of us fall somewhere in the pink to brown spectrum ourselves.

Maybe we should implement some kind of test to measure the amount of melanin in the skin and put everyone on a spectrum from perfect white to perfect black and give that position a number.

That's too much work. What I say is ust make everyone stand outside for a full day without any sunscreen. Wait about 48 hours, then see who peels more skin off their back.

If they just have some sunburn, they're probably on the darker shade of people colors. If it's coming off like old wallpaper, they're probably on the lighter end.

Can't get much more scientific than that.

Apple: "At Apple we believe in equal treatment for everyone, regardless of where they come from, what they look like, how they worship or who they love. We fully support the expansion of legal protections as a matter of basic human dignity."

Apple at next Apple reveal: "We now have 100 stores in China, the land free of civil rights abuses and human rights violations, and low pollution."

Apple only cares about civil rights as far as their margins extend.

Oh yay, a front page post about Apple supporting equality always brings out the neanderthals. I'll go get the popcorn ready.
I didn't just upvote your comment because it was funny and true, that was a given. But the fact you're in my same city and your equally witty signature made me wish I could jump through the screen right now and shake your hand.

Apple cares about civil rights as far as their opinion can matter on a realistic level. How are they supposed to make any changes in China or Africa? It's just as absurd as the requests for Apple to magically change the working conditions of their suppliers. Meanwhile in the US, the usual conservatives and "Christians" and other certain demographic groups which have been statistically known for being less accepting towards LGBT, are trying to talk this down for various reasons. I'm glad that Apple doesn't care and keeps supporting their own ideals. Without companies like Apple or Google (btw., what is your opinion on Google's Sochi rainbow logo?) speaking out loudly who knows where same-sex marriage in the US would be right now, but maybe that's exactly your issue, in that case: oh well...

Hah! I would be on the end of the spectrum where the skin would come off like wallpaper. Not a pleasant experience. I have a friend from Kenia who is very very dark, and he also burns his skin in hard sunlight.

That's funny considering how well the stock is doing. Tim is doing a fantastic job running apple. But I guess you can continue living your own reality if you want to.

Outside of the topic, I do have concerns about the "Apple Bubble", and Apple being way too dependent on the iPhone for profits. As for Tim, I have additional concerns because every year he trips all over himself with questionable decisions/product executions.

Apple Music is not making many friends currently. The MacBook and Apple Watch launches were a joke. John Browett was a horrible move. Apple Maps. Confederate Flag banning stupidity. Updates that don't work because of gimped storage. Too much time spent with Carl Ichan.

Cumulatively I think all this makes Apple lose focus as an organization. It's concerning because we know that it took laser like focus and attention to detail to a nutty Steve Jobs scale to get Apple where it is. That lack of laser focus will take a toll.

People supporting equality call others neanderthals. Sounds more like some hate and nazi talk to me.

No, "Nazi" talk would be rounding up all said Neanderthals and gassing them. You know, like the actual Nazis did with Jews, gypsies and..... Oh yeah, gays.

If those supporting equality said all straight, white Christians should be burned at the stake, that would be Nazi/hate talk.

Denying someone a job based on an element of their self that is unchangeable, that is hate.

Calling out people's prejudices is not bigotry or oppression, it is being percipient.

They should have introduced and passed this law back in 2009 when the Democrats had control of both houses of Congress and President Obama had just started in office. Such a law passed back then would have resolved the entire same-sex marriage issue on a national scale.

I'm not so sure it is the place of a tech company (or most others) to be this involved in policy other than by their doing. You want to promote equality, then do so by corporate policy. However, if Apple truly does have affirmative action policies in place, then it is actually discriminating and not promoting equality. Equality says we don't see sexuality, skin color, gender, race, etc. Affirmative action sees those traits and acts because of them.
They probably have the quotas just to avoid getting sued or targeted in some way... by people supporting racial discrimination. It is still a way to promote equality in a way, promoting equal result instead of equal opportunity. Not the right way to go.

I have to laugh what Apple try and say publicly, and then you take a look at this:

http://www.apple.com/pr/bios/

Reality and what they say kinda don't match up much do they!

Nonsense. Your statement would be true if there were reports that Apple actively disadvantaged minority groups for the svp and vp functions. But there is none of that. This is purely a supply problem that needs to be fixed and a beginning is to promote equality in the first place.

In addition, how does Apple not do what it preaches? They have an openly gay CEO for crying out loud. Or should he be a black Chinese too to add credibility to Apple's statements?

Caucasian is actually worse, IMO, as it's simply wrong. An Italian or Irishman is no more "Caucasian" than a Japanese person is "Chinese."
It comes from one of the classic theories of human genetics that stated that the white race originated from the Caucasian people. I remember reading the Wikipedia article a while ago because I was also wondering why all whites were called "Caucasian". Still very confusing, but at least it's not random. More like it's extremely vague. "Asian" is even more vague.

This is a belief not fact. There is no science to back this up. There has been no "Gay Gene' discovered.

Geneticist here (well, doing different things now, but studied it in university nonetheless). Not all fixed traits need to be genetic. There are many things that are set after the fertilisation of the egg and that cannot be altered. They may never find a gay gene because there probably isn't one. It might be a specific configuration of neurons in the brain that might never be discovered.

Anyone who still thinks sexual orientation is a choice should go talk to a gay or lesbian person. Or check your own sexual preference for that matter.

The people who live in the Caucasus Mountains or either really confused, or have really big heads from all the attention they've been getting.

When they fill out the race section in an application, they're the only ones who get to MEAN it.
What's worse is that the Caucasus Mountains are in Asia. They're Asian. XD
And yes, one of my uncles was very confused that one time.

It sounds like a good bill, but to anyone who thinks it's a no-brainer, consider that it's potentially risky to declare a government-protected group. Haven't bothered reading the bill myself, but the details matter. (e.g. How is this enforced?)

Neanderthals because they don't share the same belief?
hate is wrong but hates ones who hates others is ok?
makes perfect sense...

How 21st century.....

Such mindless leftist fascism cannot last long. It's already being recognized for what it truly is by the public. The formerly mainstream media has been eclipsed by the alternative media - i.e., the internet which is still run by you and me.
