YEP!!!! 4 is really good too. Didnt like the mechanics in 3. They screwed up movements when you were being suppressed. I wish I kept my BF2 disks. I hear someone made a patch and runs servers but not enough population.

I actually have my BF2 DVDs but as they say, you can never go home again.

Just like the original Starsiege: Tribes. I never miss a chance to mention that game, speaking of slice in time best game ever nostalgia.

Strike at Karkand was my favorite followed by Wake Island. I've watched some clips of those maps on youtube and when the intro music kicks in my heart breaks a little. 😓
😂

I was hopeful that Portal mode would eventually port Karkand and Wake but I dont see that happening anymore. Seems they've abandoned the mode. How embarassing for them to release a second season and only have ONE map included in in. I would happily pay for DLCs if they included 3-4 new maps.

Not really. They were putting out some pretty good/great stuff back then. The Janes Simulation series was rock solid and was well regarding as some of the best flight sims of its era. Need For Speed was also getting high marks. They had Madden and the other sports titles that were very good especially on the consoles. Not everything a company bangs out is going to be great or even good. Even the mighty Nintendo cranks out a dude now and then.
Yeah. The EA sports games were some of the best (PC sports games) in the 90s and early 2000s, e.g. Madden football. And The Sims games raked in gazillions of dollars and loyal fans. However, they are not quite the same in quality and popularity in recent years.

What nonsense. Apple’s gaming strategy is Apple Arcade which has zero micro transactions. What happened to mobile gaming wasn’t apples fault. They tried to get devs to avoid free apps in the beginning. And when freemium got out of hand, they created a service without IAPs. They don’t have the best catalog, to be sure. But you’re criticizing them for the wrong thing, at least WRT games

Apple in no way tried to avoid developers going for predatory microtransactions - they actively encouraged it, and it forms the vast majority of app store revenue. There are dozens of things Apple could have done if they wanted to discourage microtransactions, and they didn't do any of them.

The fact they have a service where you can pay to remove some of the worst egress of what they created isn't their gaming strategy, it's a lobbying one to try and stop politicians from taking the app store monopoly away or regulating microtransactions, which would actually hurt Apple's bottom line.

I won't deny that, but that's gonna be one beefy Switch.

Or maybe they just need to put an A15/A14 on it to keep the prices down. That will still be a better option than what Nintendo is currently using with Nvidia's crappy Tegra chips.
The problem is that hardware specs has never been a really big priority for Nintendo. In fact, history shows that each new generation for Nintendo is an entirely new idea. So based on their track record, Nintendo is probably doing something radically different to the current Switch hardware.

You do realize Arcade, Apple’s game platform is a $5 all you can eat subscription service. There are no micro transactions.
Still several of the games offered on Apple Arcade were seemingly designed for micro transactions but had the "get more virtual coins for real money" part removed.

Unless they like the Switch form factor. Though to be honest I would like to see them do a modern version of the Virtual Boy.

Nintendo on several occasions have said that the Switch is still considered mid-cycle. It was released around 2017 so expect another 5 yrs. For Nintendo it’s always about the games and they use the hardware to take advantage of their ideas. That’s why the Gamecube was such a radical idea to the N64. Then it was a totally different idea with the Wii. The Wii U was a different design again by using a gamepad i.e. tablet idea. The Switch then succeeded the Wii U.

Maybe but what will stick is the hybrid console concept. I don't see them doing two separate home and handheld consoles again.

When it comes to Nintendo, they are very much like Apple. They take a sense of pride in marching to their own beat and doing things their way. That’s why it’s SO hard to guess what they are planning to do next.

Since components are cheaper, they could bring back Virtual Boy (with full color screen and lighter weight so it is actually portable).

It works well for both because they each offer things no other company can offer, things that appeal to customers. Nintendo has those Mario, Zelda, etc games you can't play anywhere else. Apple has MacOS which a lot of people (self included) desire to use over Windows and iOS instead of Android.

That is kind of why I think Apple buying Nintendo wouldn't help either corporation. Two completely different cultures, hardware/software models.

Nintendo was approached in the past by Microsoft who wanted to buy them out and they just laughed. They would turn down any other advances. The Mario franchise and associated 1st party games is as important to Nintendo as the iPhone is to Apple.

Nintendo just likes making games and other fun stuff, which btw Nintendo got its start as a toy company. They would consider a buyout as anti-Nintendo because most of the stuff they do hardware wise comes out of left field and goes contrary to what the industry says will work. When the Wii was introduced, it was vastly under powered vs the PS3 and XBOX 360 and yet it became a worldwide hit, outselling both the PS3 and XBOX 360.

In the end, I still think Apple is looking to buy out Riot Games. Given the Chinese stock market nowadays, Tencent unloading Riot Games to Apple would help Tencent's financial position, especially when the sale could net Tencent as much as US$11 billion.

Is LoL and Valorant really worth 11 billion?

There is truth to this. The games with a '+' suffix were on regular iOS, but got reworked to do away with IAP and ads. However, they can still be VERY grindy. Ironically enough, some of them would've been better on the non-'+' versions since at least there, you can throw $$ at the problem (even though many on principle don't deserve your $$). I ended up skipping some of those games. At least with AA, you wasted some time, but just delete it, and move on to the other selection of games.

Apple could've just banned those types of MTX, but 86% of the iOS App Store is dominated by that, so ofc. they're not going to say no to "free money".
