Those are typical responses of those who are perpetually not happy with themselves or where they are in life. Ragging on someone, something, or some company helps them to deal with it and feel better about themselves. For the next ten minutes or so.

Is that what you really think? It’s harmless discussion about a company, not a majorly important social or political issue.

It’s people being critical of a company, and that’s all. It’s people that take that as a personal insult that is weird to me. I thought the keynote was boring and underwhelming. That’s my opinion and it shouldn’t spark outrage as it is just an opinion on a show and a product. If that personally offends you then there are deeper issues at hand.

Some companies like Samsung have also been known to pay for social media astroturfing campaigns, so it could be that too. That being said, I usually put these types of posters in my ignore list, so that the quality of comments I see are at least of average intelligence.

They are usually a 10-15 minutes behind. It’s not hard to calculate market cap.

Was just saying that it isn't in real time as there were a few posts that said Yahoo or Google didn't agree with the reality that AAPL indeed is a trillion dollar company. Google couldn't ever be wrong after all

No one said that so stop being sooooo dramatic. All I said was the keynote sucked (because it did) and that I was underwhelmed by the products (which a lot of other people were as well).

And you don’t care about the stock price because it you don’t own any Apple stock. I do, so I care a lot.

No one used those exact words? Ok, sue me for paraphrasing. Plenty of people expressed the views I summarised.

If you own stock in apple you should be happy, the price is up, the literal opposite of what you posted would happen. Or do you now need to find an excuse for why you weren’t wrong, and it’s still bad somehow?

Offends me? Seriously? No, sorry. I don’t give strangers that kind of power over my life.

I’m alright if that’s not the case with you.

No one said that so stop being sooooo dramatic.

For someone who claimed that what amounts to a glorified press release was “embarrassing” it’s quite rich to then claim that the people saying the constant negative comments are old/tiring/boring feel “insulted”. No one mentioned insults or embarrassment or being offended, except you.

I said, and others apparently agree that constant complaining is just boring commentary to read.

I never claimed anyone said that, but good try. All I said was that it seemed weird to me.

Again, I said there is nothing wrong with being critical of a company. I find it strange when people seemingly are offended aver someone being critical of a product or company. If I didn’t like the keynote or thought the products were underwhelming why do you care? I haven’t gone around searching for positive comments and told people they were wrong for liking what they saw yesterday. The fact that you care that many people weren’t blown away yesterday as evidenced by you calling them out in a post just seems weird to me. But you do you.

No, you implied some people did.

Yet again, you’re implying someone is offended. No one has said they’re offended, anywhere in this thread.

I haven’t gone around searching for positive comments and told people they were wrong for liking what they saw yesterday.
So now you’re implying that I had to “go searching” for negative comments? Are you ****ing kidding me?

The fact that you care that many people weren’t blown away yesterday as evidenced by you calling them out in a post just seems weird to me.
Where did I say I care that you aren’t blown away by an incremental update. I said the constant whining is boring.

Please try to read what I wrote rather than assuming you know what I think.

Do you people get paid to complain? I couldn't give two ***** about the stock price, so long as the company is healthy, and I don't think it's particularly newsworthy that a company stock price increases a little bit, but the constant "this product is crap, the company is doomed" approach followed by "oh but just wait till X happens" when sure enough the people outside of MacRumors forum don't all suddenly **** their pants and abandon Apple as predicted is getting pretty tired now.
As you complain about others complaining....

On the business news today, they mentioned that Apple stock sold for the equivalent of $1.20 (after all the splits since then) on 9/11/2001.

It's now $220+ :).

Around this time, I was deciding between an investment in AT&T or Apple.

I ended up getting AT&T because all the experts were claiming that Apple was doomed :(.

Now you're getting that sweet 5.27% annual dividend yield.

You thinks it's normal for people who don't even own or use Apple products to spend all their time on an Apple website doing nothing but endless bashing? Since I just bought a new Ford truck, should I spend all my time on Chevy truck forums criticizing Chevy trucks? Is that normal?

I own only Apple products so I’m not sure who you’re referring to.

The poster you replied to (and who they replied to) made a generic comment about this behavior. This is what I'm talking about - not a specific individual.

I guess, but I’m not sure what evidence you have that points to any individuals “hanging out in here” just to bash Apple.

If you look at my specific post history I give them nothing but praise most of the time. When I see fit to criticize, I do, and some people just can’t take anything negative being about them. I’m not pointing to you at all, but the thinking that they do no wrong is a joke.

I think yesterday’s keynote was lackluster, and it’s an opinion I’m entitled to. If it rubs someone the wrong way I understand but I don’t go after people who thought the keynote was great. This forum is for discussion, not just for everyone to constantly write how great Apple is.

Apple has regained its status as a trillion dollar company by market cap, which is its total outstanding shares multiplied by its stock price.

aapl_1t_11sep2019-800x708.jpg

Apple achieved this milestone by hitting a stock price above $221.28 in intraday trading today, giving it a market cap slightly over $1,000,000,000,000 based on its 4,519,180,000 outstanding shares as of July 19, 2019, which the company disclosed in its most recent quarterly 10-Q filing with the SEC.

Apple first achieved a trillion dollar valuation in August 2018 with a $207 share price, but the company continues to buy back its shares, which is why it took a higher share price this time around to hit the 13-digit milestone.

Apple's stock is up over three percent since it hosted its annual iPhone and Apple Watch event at Steve Jobs Theater yesterday.

Apple and Microsoft, valued at around $1.03T, are currently the only U.S. companies with a trillion dollar market cap, but Amazon has achieved the milestone in the past and Google parent company Alphabet has come very close.

[doublepost=1568240361][/doublepost]after seeing the upcoming product line........I think Apple going to have the worst holiday season sales

11S, 11S Pro and 11S Pro Max? They actually consider this generation as a redesign, so I wouldn't be surprised if we see it again next year.

I think with a company spending more than $20b a year in R&D a bit more was expected and that’s why the keynote was a let down. The Xs model didn’t really add anything but a camera and the 11 pro didn’t add much but a camera +\-. After the Xs people said what until next year and then “thud”, not people are just saying the same thing, “wait until next year”. Should we expect big things next year or more of the same?

If anything else, I think the takeaway is that there is an increasing disconnect between Apple and its biggest critics.

It’s one thing to not be satisfied with what a company puts out because the products don’t strike your fancy. It’s another to show a fundamental misunderstanding of how the market works and claim that said company is doomed because of it. As though one’s patronage was the only thing keeping Apple afloat or something along that line.

Just look at the iPhone XR. Everything about it screams “compromise”, and maybe that’s precisely what the smartphone market needs right now. Not innovation, but compromise. Apple is showing a lot of foresight when it comes to making the right calls on what to compromise (and what to emphasise) so that users still get a great user experience while allowing Apple to stay (immensely) profitable.

Their pricing tier suggests as much. I concede that perhaps Apple did test the price inelasticity of their products a bit too much last year (ie: raise prices a tad too far). The market responded, Apple responded in kind, and here we are today, with the iPhone 11 which you know is going to be the most popular iPhone in terms of sales.
