I must've missed that, because the post I quoted didn't mention at all that he lives in Massachusetts. In fact he said he lives right near the New Hampshire store.
He said he's "cheap," so my guess is that he's close to the state line. If he has it shipped, Apple would charge the state tax rate applicable to where it is being shipped. Parts of New Hampshire fall within the Boston metro area.

Ah, that does make sense because I couldn't figure out what would be the difference in him ordering online. Got it.

I bought the 64gb model this morning. Not sure I need the extra storage, but I think I'll use this for a few years, so the extra storage makes it a bit more future proof.

I think it'll probably come down to games if one needs the extra storage. My bet is most people won't.

I think your advice is spot-on. Additionally, on Apple's website when you click on "How much storage do I need?", Apple also suggests that 32 GB will be just fine for most people that do light gaming.

Exactly ;) It probably also doesn't support state of the art 3D - remember when TV makers tried to get us all to buy new TVs and sit on our couch watching with sunglasses on? HA!
VuDu has new releases in 4K, as does Netflix. And 4K Blu-ray is on the way. The same, not so visionary, remarks were made about 1080P when it came out - "not much content" etc. (are you still watching a 720P display on your primary viewing screen?). And I remember the exact same arguments defending Gen 1 & 2 Apple TVs - do you recall they were 720P max? The hardware has to be in the market before the providers start putting a lot of content out to the consumer. But if you don't see the explosion of 4K - from BestBuy to Costco or Sams club - you simply have your head in the sand. At screen sizes of 50 inches and larger, 31 percent of TV shipments were 4K, and 4K LCD TV shipments grew nearly 400 percent Y/Y. (As of 1stQ 2015) Finally, The term "state of the art" refers to the highest level of general development. In consumer display technology that is currently available, in regards to resolution, that would be 4K. And the highest output resolution commercially available to the consumer in streaming is 4K, i.e., "The state of the art". Therefore, as a simple matter of fact, Apple's newest TV streaming device does not provide the "state of the art". If you don't require or desire that level of performance, then that is excellent and part of consumer choice. But that does not change the fact you can buy the Android MXIII, RoKu 4, NVIDIA® SHIELD, or Amazon Fire TV all with 4K streaming. Sorry Apple TV, but you are definitely not at the current "state of the art", which in consumer display resolution, is 4K.

Ordered one for my son to cover all upcoming holidays from Hanumas to birthday. When I visit him in the spring I'll get to see how it works and what he's using it for. I went ahead and got him the 64GB model.

The way I see it, I have had the highest capacity version of everything I've ever bought from Apple and have always had some form of storage issue. Getting anything less just to save $50 would probably end up causing a headache down the road, and that's not worth saving a few bucks over the course of the years that I'll own this.

I would look at the big picture in this regard. 10% of $200 is $20, (this is speaking about the U.S. prices) is $20 savings worth the trouble of waiting for the stores to get one, driving to an Apple store, dealing with the crowd in the store and then after you buy it you have to wait until Discover refunds the 10%? For some, every penny counts, but for me I factor in my trouble and time which are way more valuable than a $20 savings.

"Waiting" "crowds". Really?
I doubt that this will be anything near any of that.
I would say the $20.00 is well worth going in and purchasing (if it truly is a savings of 20.00). Plus the shipping costs?
Yeah, that's a no brainer.

Not for people like me. It would cost me an hour of pay and a $15 Uber ride to get to and from the Apple Store from work, or drive two hours round trip and pay the gasoline on the weekend to save $10-20? Potential cost being somewhere around $20-100? Yeah... Pass.

I actually paid the extra shipping to get it sooner. Cheaper.

for anyone not buying applecare which comes with replacement warranty - you will have a hand held remote that you will be flinging around wii-style when playing games.

Also, water damage is a real possibility with the remote. I think the warranty is a good add on.

I have owned every Apple TV ever made + 4 ATV3. Never had need. Not going to start now (Plus I will be using to watch movies only I hate games)

I can easily tell you've never been to an Apple store, because they're always crowded on the norm. I wasn't referring to "crowds" or "waiting" in terms of the TV. I was referring the store always being very busy and crowded with customers. Not always easy to get help there.

What shipping costs? Every piece of Apple hardware I've purchased online was shipped for free.

Really? That was a pretty dumb purchase, this comes with a bluetooth remote so you can hide the unit away and never have to look at it and thats not even mentioning the app support. Plus, the design is the same its just a little bit taller, I really feel that you are either trolling or are fighting the obvious buyers remorse.

No, I sincerely don't like the direction they went with it. I don't like the new design or features. Superfluous, is the term to me. It is not just a passing thing. I don't like the design or features of the new one. Who on earth really plans to play games on this thing?

comparing 720 dpi to 1080 dpi TVs.

Sorry, I know I'm being pedantic, but you are using dpi wrong. I think you mean 720p and 1080p. Those are descriptors of the number of lines of pixels on a progressive scan display. Dpi is dots per inch (interchangeable with ppi, or pixels per inch, on a digital display) and is arch lower figure on TVS (because you are sitting for back, so you don't need it to be high.)

A 37" TV (roughly the average TV size) has a ppi of 40 at 720p or 60 at 1080p. On a 4K screen the ppi only goes up to 125. The original iPhone had a ppi of 163, for comparison (back in the pre-retina days)
