Lots of people have Fire TVs, Nexus, ChromeCast & existing Apple TVs. And when you speak of gaming.. people have Xboxs & Playstations to satisfy their gaming needs.

I wanna get more information before taking the plunge. I already have a ChromeCast, Apple TV3 & Nexus Player. Most wanted app I want on the Apple TV is the Plex app, I know that's quite awhile away.

Plex has already confirmed to issue an app.

I agree with this, except the fact that I'm using this as a streaming device and the PS4 will be for games, don't think I'll ever use even half the space on this thing

All music, photos and movies will be streamed, nothing local. Max app size is 200MB also. Plus, I expect a 4K model in the next year or so I'll be upgrading then anyway
Max initial download size for apps is 200MB but on demand asset payload downloads are 20GB max. Probably for really graphic intensive apps.

I ordered 32gb I don't think I will be downloading that many games so the space should be sufficient.
This is what I wrote earlier.. if storage is for Apps only I do not see the need (for myself) of 64 gb.... if instead you can save movie in it, they should have upped to 128

Literally woke up early without an alarm or anything and just checked my phone and seen it had went on sale just 15 minutes earlier per the blogs. Did the App store checkout on my iPad and raced past the prompts and ended up having to cancel that order and do another one because the App Store App was trying to use an old Email and an OLD shipping address.

Right now i'm in front of my computer and logged into my Apple account and don't even see that old email listed anywhere within my account online and that old shipping address is not set up as a default anywhere on my account.

What a major pain.

Just ordered the 64Gb. I figured this is a device that Apple will not update that often and should therefore have a lifespan of a couple of years. I expect some near-console level quality games to be issued that take up some space. It would be brilliant to get something like No Man's Sky on the Apple TV.

I fully expect some of the large game houses to dip their toes in this new platform and see how it goes.

Understandable. I completely agree. I'm still contemplating on whether the TV is for me or not. I'd mostly be using it for Airplay. Still not sure if that's enough to justify seeing as most of my A/V products have SMART apps.

you know you want it, otherwise you wouldn't be sniffing around it haha!

No I agree I know I feel people in the same position, my ATV 3rd gen is used pretty much every other day.

While I agree it will sell well, I'm not so sure it will be sold out.....or sold out long enough to matter.

Well, even the so called "failure" Apple Watch was sold out for months. With the holiday season coming, I definitely wanted to have mine before I start traveling. IDK, I just think this may be the product that unexpectedly over succeeds. This is basically the most affordable iOS device with an App Store, and it has the biggest screen =). I could see many parents buying this instead of an Xbox or a Playstation (weather their kids like it or not). Free or $0.99 apps instead of $60 games alone makes this a huge hit IMO.

I just ordered and got Nov. 2 - Nov 4th delivery date, is the release date on Oct. 30th? Should i cancel and try on Friday?

If you tried Android and iOS, you would see that THE App Store is what makes Apple devices great (among other things). If the apps you want are on the iPhone, I'm sure developers are already working on bringing those apps to the Apple TV. Plus, $150 is hardly a "plunge" in the world of Apple (nor does it seem for you since you can afford 3 different streaming devices), when accessories such as leather watch bands, and force touch trackpad go for just about the same amount.

I have a Fire TV and used it instead of my 3rd gen Apple TV since it came out. Now that is going to change. ONLY reason for Fire TV now is Amazon Prime. I really wish they would come out with a tvOS app for Prime.

Apps/games are only allowed to be 200MB max. Anything over that they must download every time the app is run and there are limits on how much they can download also. Because of this, it's not likely you'll see games much over the 200MB maximum.

Ordered the 64gb Free Shipping. Not paying $17 for shipping and went 64 instead of 32 because what the hell, why not. Better to have more and never use it than to have less and need more. I learned that long ago. Besides, we'll see what this puppy can do soon enough.

They won't. Amazon wants to move people to its platform, not away from it. This is also why they've stopped selling the Apple TV and Chromecast on their website.

I think Plex already mentioned that they will app ready for the release

I'm already familiar with how well polished apps on AppStore compared to Android.. and the much better developer support. My thought process is to give it time... I wanna see what Amazon do as well in regards to Prime Video.

Anyone have any idea how much the 32GB version will actually have available? Can't decide which I should go with... I highly doubt I'll need 64GB (I mainly stream). Also, I cant imagine I would download many games.. I would think 32GB would be plenty for a few apps here and there. I mean formatted there must be at least 27GB, right?
