Was really disappointed by the lack of optical port for audio. Unfortunately, with my current set-up, the new Apple TV won't work. Not about to go replace my receiver just to get the Apple TV, sorry. It does look cool and hoping it lives up to the hype.

Was thinking that but I cant imagine they will try and store all films on there etc, just went with the 32Gb I'm pretty sure you can just stream it like before.

if not ill send it back and upgrade
If they wanted you to store vids on it they would have a teribite hard drive inside. Not an optional 64 gig one. I also ordered the 32, apps and casual games for me. Pretty much just a huge iPad except I don't need to download any music/pictures/movies as it's always online.

I was thinking Apple would put out a splitter or at least offer one they approve of but I don't see anything like that.

I wonder how many seconds it will until third party condom cases become available for the Apple WiiMote. Apple seems to have the strap covered so that they can blame you when you don't spend an extra $13 to prevent yourself from flinging the remote at your tv.

Also, how secure can a strap be that is attached via the lightning connector port?

On the other hand (pun?), can said lightning connector wrist strap also be used to carry around your iPhone / iPad / Pencil / Magic Trackpad / Magic Mouse 2?

Good idea for when my spouse flings it at me ;)

How does TV work if you're not using your TV for sound? Right now I have a soundbar hooked up to my TV and when I'm using my TV the soundbar switches to optical. How will this work now that TV no longer has optical port?

Anyone have any idea how much the 32GB version will actually have available? Can't decide which I should go with... I highly doubt I'll need 64GB (I mainly stream). Also, I cant imagine I would download many games.. I would think 32GB would be plenty for a few apps here and there. I mean formatted there must be at least 27GB, right?
Probably 26-27GB. I went with 32GB because I hate touch based games. I'll use my PS4/XB1 for games. Apple TV for streaming. As much as I am a storage addict, I can't justify the 64GB model based on how the new ATV downloads on demand.

64Gb model just makes no sense.

1. The device must have fast internet connectivity to work.
2. Any content can be re-downloaded quickly by that connection.

... or have I missed something ?

If you use your tv remote to control volume of the sound bar, the Apple remote will do the same.

Apps. Some apps will require extra space on demand. The extra GB will help you there.

Unless you can store movies and other items on it. There really is not enough info to make a good determination. I was leaning towards 32 but said what the hell, why not 64. Not that much difference in price for double the storage. If I don't use it all or find I don't need it, I'll trade it in for the 32 within my return period. No harm, no foul.

Any word on when stores will have them yet? Hoping for this weekend.

My guess is either this Friday or next Monday, you could pre-order then if word comes out that they hit the stores this week, you could cancel and/or return your purchased on-line ATV

Same here I'm just doing it the other way

Ordered a 32gb one with free shipping. Normal Nov 2 - 4 delivery time. 64gb would be overkill for Netflix and chill.

Did anyone else notice they are selling wireless Beats as an accessory? I didn't heard any coverage about the new Apple TV having wireless headphone support, But this is awesome!

Irrelevant complaint. The appropriate HDMI audio extractor is $30 on Amazon.

Ordered the 64 and wireless controller for games. Nov 2nd is delivery date. I didn't really need one of these as my previous generation is just fine but I figured what the heck.. Let's upgrade one more time this year. Already got a Apple Watch, new phone and iPad too. But not getting the iPad pro, can't take that big of a hit before the end of the year.

I'm surprised it's still 10/100 Ethernet and not gigabit. Unless I read specs wrong ???

Yea, this is pretty much the same case for me.. My iPhone has 128GB.. but that's because I like having all my stuff stored locally (and I have a lot of music). However, for Apple TV theres no reason I need anything stored locally. Also, the more I thought about it.. all my music and pics are stored/streamed off the cloud on my ATV3... I honestly can't picture myself downloading too many apps.. even then like you said the resource downloading.. will make the most use of the space! I mainly use my current ATV for Netflix and music.. with how few apps I'll download, 32GB seems like the obvious choice.
