If making something thinner and lighter we easy to do, then we would see all those 7 inch or so tablets that are thinner and lighter than an iPad mini. It takes real innovation to make something of quality that is thinner and lighter. Making something with a bigger screen so that one can have a battery large enough to power an inefficient OS is not innovation.

Imagine how this community would respond if someone would take a photo of a banner that said something like this:

ios_6_banner-5.jpg

Photo taken last year, a few days before WWDC 2012 kicked off.

Only than, instead of saying "iOS 7", saying "iOS 6.2". :p

Ugh, I'm so impatient! This sucks that I have to wait until 3AM the next day for it to begin (I'm in Sydney, Australia currently).

Just sleep man, you'll close your eyes and as soon as you open them again it's morning, you'll be able to enjoy reading all the awesome new features of iOS 7:D

Just a quick thought/question... If iOS 7 is supposed to be more black and white, why are all the banners for WWDC so colorful, filled with the colorful (flat) app squares?

Probably because it's not gonna be more black and white :D

Looks like those app icons have rounded corners. Other MR article speculated they were going to square corners. I get the feeling nobody really knows.

No way they will do square corners. The rounded corners are a) incorporated into every product Apple makes, and b) a tribute to Jobs.

The app tiles will continue to have rounded corners. There are millions (billions?) of iOS devices out there with home buttons that have the app tiles with rounded corners. They are not going to break that paradigm anytime soon.

Right on.

They aren't even in the same league. Anything Apple announces will pretty much crush all the hype over the PS3 and Xbox One.

PS3?

Damn I was kind of hoping we were going to be seeing some classier graphics with less candy coloured crap. I can only assume poor Ive have been over ruled on getting rid of the bling totally.

Apple is currently looking very like windows was from a graphics point of view and I know they can do better. Little touches of colour are fine but it's getting out of hand with the rainbows.

Is anyone else with me on this or an I the only one who likes subdued hues and greys rather than a whole spectrum of vomit?

Internationalization is probably the theme. Maybe they made it simpler or better or… something.

An ant could crush the "excitement" of the Xbox One. I watched the first 10 mins (I'm not a gamer - couldn't be LESS interested) and I almost fell asleep... it was a laughable show.

Apple keynote VS Xbox event - incomparable, seriously!

This is iOS specific, officially supported, complete set of APIs for creating fully native applications iOS with Javascript. Not hacks, hybrid apps or multi-platform apps. The goal of this is to make it easier and cheaper to build applications on the iOS platform (Everybody knows enough Javascript to get by, right?).

Easy and cost effective enough to use Phonegap. Sure, it's hybrid, but that's the point, otherwise it wouldn't be easier / cheeper. Good luck wishing for some sort of pure JS solution, it will never happen!

I don't think so, there are only two undisclosed sessions this year, I think. If they were launching a new platform I'd think there would be more.

IF I were a developer, then I would say once upon a time in a magical land of WWDC that there were way more than two undisclosed sessions according to my WWDC app.... you know, if I were to have one.

Not interested in PhoneGap or hybrid apps.

You're making some rather ridiculous assumptions based on some conference banners.

Aperture 4/Aperture X I hope!

Open your eyes - the high-end amateur and pro market has given up on Apple, and finds Lightroom to be a great tool - especially since it has a workflow integrated with Photoshop.

Too little, too late if Apple does some lame update to its IPhoto plugin.

The WWDC app icon is purple but the app itself is largely silver.
