Apple Begins Issuing Preauthorization Credit Holds for iPad Pre-Orders

I ordered mine at 6:30am and nothing yet. Of course they never even pre-authorized the full amount only the shipping and something else. So go figure.
My friend on the other hand, ordered her's after mine (we both got the 16gb wifi) and Citibank blocked the charge for fraudalent activity and she just got an email from Apple saying they needed a new payment method or they would cancel the order.
She and I were thinking maybe they did her before me because she doesn't live in a metro area (she lives in the middle of nowhere Minnesota)-- I, on the other hand, live in the RDU area of NC.
Would be rather funny if the 3G units are delivered before the WIFI only version!!!!!

Can't believe some of you are complaining about this. At least you are able to pre order. Here in the UK we don't even know how much it will cost. Stop moaning and be grateful.

Actually no, not at all - I want more info/MR stories. As a musician and avid reader, this is going to be amazing. For music, this is going to be a whole new level of amazing. I have bought countless (audio) apps for my iphone but always wondered how much better it could be on a screen the size of the ipad. I cannot wait to get one.

My Newton is still working just fine... so I'll just sit tight and wait to see if this iPad thing is any good or not.
I'm hoping this means the review units are heading out soon.
And also I'm curious to find out more about the hardware. It'll be interesting to see what iFixit finds inside of them since Apple has been so quite about the specs.

They could probably receive a free gold-plated iPad autographed by Steve Jobs and they'd still bitch and moan about how it doesn't have eSATA, or the latest Nvidia graphics chips, removable battery, blah blah blah.
These are people with unhappiness issues. They are probably emotionally unstable, with a deep seated lack of self-confidence. Their insecurities are publicly manifested as entitlement behavior.

I got a "there's a problem with your payment" screen when I tried to order, so I called Citibank right away and got their fraud department. The person I spoke to there said Citi was blocking *everything* to Apple on the day the iPad orders started.
I'm showing a hold for $500 and some change on my Visa, even though I ordered the iPad case in the same order, which leads me to think these are backordered even though I ordered both on March 12.
Sadly, Keeley Hazel could ring their doorbells and deliver the gold-plated iPads and they'd probably slam the door in her face, telling her to come back after she lost weight and got a bigger rack.+1, I couldn't agree more, lmao.
Exactly. I don't have any hate towards the iPad, it's just that I want some more Mac news/rumors/excitement. Hopefully soon.

Hey, if you know of another forum that covers a similar assortment of technical issues for Apple products with less of the blind fanaticism that typically accompanies such forums then I'm all ears. Seriously.
Pretty sure. I've never been much of a PALM fan myself, or a RIMM fan for that matter. Apple did a good job of sucking me in to the whole mystique of their arbitrarily opaque ecosystem. For a while anyway. That is until I peeked behind the curtain and saw shades of a skinnier, hipper version of MSFT. Of course, like MSFT it's hard for the masses to participate in a diversified mainstream fund that doesn't invest in AAPL or their supply chain in some form or another. Oh well, being tied to the fates of conglomerates isn't anything new.
I wish I knew if my card had been preauthorized. My online banking doesn't show me this information. How have all of you been able to check on the preauthorization charge?
