i have it dled but I want to wait for the release notes to come up and see how bad the bugs are as they say theres no reverting and i dont want to be stuck on it for 2 weeks if the bugs are horrible.

There's ALWAYS reverting....

If anyone downloads this for their AT&T 4S, can you tell me if it diferentiates between the normals HSPA network, and HSPA+, I couldn't care less if it says 4G/H+ or whatever, I just want to know what speeds I should be getting relative to what I am getting.

Nope :( i was hopping for the H+ or 4G symbol in this update but does not look like it. Still says 3G

What is this?

Not exactly sure, but it sounds like it will allow 3rd party app developers to better handle dictation in their text fields in their apps - it "works" now, but developers might be able to detect when dictation begins and ends and respond in some particular way (maybe there could be some siri-like apps based on it :)

The battery drain on the 4S is caused by a bad video driver which causes the GPU to run when idle and not needed. I hope this addressed it.

Also, there is still the issue of the infrared light being on no matter if Raise to Speak is off or if Siri is off. This doesn't apply to the idle drain group, just contributes to the low usage numbers.
That's great and all, but what seems to almost always be missing from more or less all of these kinds of "investigations/explanations" is that they don't seem to account at all for the fact that pretty much a similar number of iPhone 4 phones (not 4S) have been experiencing essentially the same kind of battery drain issues after updating to iOS 5. So, it certainly sounds like there's something at least (possibly much) more to it, if not something else entirely.

Theres a new feature under location settings: their is not an outlined location service icon next to an item using a geofence

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

So far I can't find anything new at all. Build number is significantly higher than 5.01 though. Probably some big changes under the hood. Possibly more stuff that's not been turned on yet.

Downloading now ... above all else I pray it fixes the iPhone 4S SIM failure

Get your phone replaced, as this is most likely a hardware problem and has been around since iPhone 4. I had this issue with my 4 and I waited for a couple of 4.x releases to see if the problem would be corrected. When I finally went to the Apple Store, they replaced it as soon as I told them what the problem was.

On the outside it seems no different than 5.0.1. Throughout tomorrow I'll check and see how the battery life is. They'll probably add the "new features" in later betas. This beta release is probably just to check out the under the hood bug fixes.

Yes! We has hope! :D

Just read elsewhere that some changes have been made to iTunes Match. Apparently there are different icons and now it has "Use Cellular data" in the options for it.
