Any chance all of this stock was unaccounted for in some warehouse and just now found? Id like to know the manufacture date. Assuming these have been sitting for ages, the batteries are surely dead and that's a death blow for lithium ion.

They should give it a small spec upgrade, so it isn’t such old tech. Just a process bump to keep things smooth

It’s clearance. They’re just selling off stock they still have sitting around.

I doubt that they would sell devices with dead batteries.

Well if they're new in box and were manufactured long ago, they will be dead on arrival. I'd need to know the manufacture date before I ordered.

But for consuming media and sending messages the SE is horrible to use compared to a Plus screen.

I don’t think it’s ‘horrible’ at all. When I owned my iPhone SE, it was perfect for sending messages and/or maybe watching a quick video, etc. If I want to consume any more media other than that, I can revert to my iPad. The SE was really meant as a convenience factor in a smaller package, and less obtrusive in the pocket as these larger phones are today, that’s what the SE excelled at so well.

I didn't see this coming lol

Apple really did a wrong job this year with the iPhone sales, don't get me wrong I love my XS Max but I still don't know how I did pay the price of that phone lol

I wonder if this has anything to do with the current new iPhones not selling?

Apple thinks they are listening to the public by selling lower-cost phones but just to clarify Tim, we didn't mean old phones you don't support anymore..

I take it you can buy another phone that you think is reasonably priced. I don't understand the complaints about price. Do you write BMW or Lexus, or high end stereo companies or ETC, ETC ... Am I wrong or is an XR not that much more than a top of the line Samsung?

At those prices, anyone in the market for an iPod Touch would be very foolish not to get this instead.

iPhone SE 128GB, $299
vs
iPod Touch 128GB, $299

Very much yes. An iPod touch with 30-meter res GPS(part of the cellular radio even if you aren't on a network), Ambient Light sensor, and Touch-ID.

While this is a good move by Apple, and should remind them not to ditch the small form factor market again, it still isn't enough to bring me personally back. They need to either make a sub-5" device (even 5" is a bit too large for me to one-hand conformable, and fit in most of my pockets), decrease the price, or offer external drive I/O and a file system.

I can get an unlocked MotoE5 Play, plus a SanDisk 128GB Extreme (A2 / UHS-I / V30 / U3 / Class 10) for half what Apple wants. Total Commander gives robust File System access (to the limit of not rooting). Paragon's exFAT/NTFS driver allows me external USB thumb/SSD/HDD drives. The SnapDragon 425 and A9 are fairly close. I can even handle iTunes Sync with DoubleTwist. Also FM Radio reception with connect 3.5mm headphone wire. The only thing the MotoE5 Play does not have is a gyroscope, which is require in combination with an accelerometer for most VR Apps.

I understand what you’re saying, but do you really think that Apple would sell devices that are useless out of the box?

Besides, if the battery health is below 80% while it’s still under warranty, they’ll replace it for free.

They need an entry level device to compete with low end android devices. This is the perfect one to do it with. Probably beats some androids in benchmarks too.

LOL. You’re comparing an A9 with SD425 and you think they’re close?

Apple has broken the glass behind which is a stash of iPhone SE's... which were saved in the event the company was having a meltdown.

Scratching and clawing.

Tim, how's your resume coming?

My SE still surprises me, which I’m typing this on now. I bought a 7 to replace it when the lock switch broke, but ended up returning the 7 and just getting switch fixed for $50 from a third party vendor. I swear the 7 had worse battery life than my SE. The 16gb in mine often feels limiting, and unless there’s a smaller XR, I’m positive I’d pick up another SE when this one dies at 32 or 128gb, it simply gets the job done. And also the silky smoothness of the display. iPhones of old I remember used to really slow down and glitch out after a while. Had this a good few years now and it’s still as snappy as ever.

If your employer provided a laptop for work, you could buy an iPhone SE ($249 clearance) and an iPad 2018 ($249 on sale) and have your minimalist personal computing solution for less than $500. Not a bad option for a recent college grad with a first job and a tight budget.

I put a Space Grey 128GB in my shopping cart and when I went to pay two minutes later I was told they were out of stock! Somebody else paid before I could. Anywho, they still had a 128GB Silver so I got that instead. I own two other SEs. It's the perfect phone for people who don't need bells and whistles like changing your face to a donkey when doing a FaceTime call and for people who want fingerprint logins and not facial recognition (or at least the option). Oh, yeah, then there's the cost, too....

UPDATE: Apple (probably Tim Cook hisself) sent me an email (Sunday @ around noon) saying the iPhone SE had shipped and I will get it Tuesday. Now that's Capitalism at its best!
