But for consuming media and sending messages the SE is horrible to use compared to a Plus screen.
I would have to mostly agree with this.

Media consumption is Possible but I find it a bit more enjoyable on a bigger screen. I am really only talking about Netflix and IOS games. IG, Facebook, Twitter and such are fine.

Typing messages is possible. I do it all the time. I just have to pay more attention or there will be a lot of typos.

However, As a companion to my MBP & Ipad (2018). It is perfect.

Oh, Apple, PLEASE make a premium small sized phone. iPhone SE OLED would be an instant sell. I’ve grown to accept my X but I still want the smaller footprint.

but would you mind paying a premium price for such a device?

i only ask because, i want such a device also, and i wouldn't mind paying more to get such a device.

say, iPhone Xs sells at USD 1,000, for a smaller footprint phone (4.0" (size of the 5/5s/SE) or 4.7" which is same size as iPhone 6/6s/7/8) ) that has near equal internals i wouldn't mind paying USD 1,500 for it.

exactly. 4" is not idea for consumption. but the 4.7" was fine. (the size of the 6/6s/7/8)

Once they clear all of their iPhone SE inventory, I hope they do the same for the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus and X. I'm sure they have many of those lying around. It should boost iPhone sales fairly quickly.
They might as well. Why keep them? Make as much money as you can.

Apple really has the weirdest strategy now (if they even have one). Often times seems unorganized or perhaps naive of what their customer base actually wants. Do I need a dongle to use this phone with my MacBook Pro? Yep.

That’s what happens when CEOs have priority on politics instead of their products. Go woke go broke one way or another :D

I'm torn because the other week had the story on Apple working on a new iPod touch.

The SE is also bulky compared with the current Touch 6.

the thinness of the Touch is such a joy to handle.

get the newly rumored Touch.

faster, thinner, probably with more GB.
if WiFi is pretty much available everywhere for yr location(s), and your circle of family and friends and co-workers are on iCloud, then getting the SE would be meaningless.

Four months after Apple stopped selling the iPhone SE, the beloved device has made a sudden return to Apple's online store.

iphone-se-unlocked-800x507.jpg

Apple is offering the iPhone SE with 32GB of storage for $249 and with 128GB of storage for $299 on its clearance store in the United States. These are brand new, unopened, and unlocked models with unchanged tech specs, including a 4-inch Retina display, A9 chip, Touch ID, and 12-megapixel rear camera.

Prior to being pulled, the iPhone SE was available with 32GB and 128GB of storage for $349 and $449 respectively, so Apple is offering $100 to $150 off. The device was originally released in March 2016 and was popular among fans of smaller smartphones and those who preferred the iPhone 5-like design.

It's unclear why Apple is selling the iPhone SE again, but it would appear to be clearing out stock. The iPhone SE remains on sale at select authorized resellers, as reflected on Apple's compare iPhone models page when the iPhone SE is selected.

Of course, with Apple recently lowering its revenue guidance for the quarter just ended due to fewer iPhone upgrades than it anticipated, speculation will certainly mount that Apple is doing everything it can to boost iPhone sales.

While many customers have hoped for a so-called iPhone SE 2, with some rumors suggesting one was in the works, oft-accurate Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo cast doubt on the possibility of a new iPhone SE last year. And in July of last year, one research firm said Apple abandoned its plans for a new iPhone SE.

Apple is offering the iPhone SE in Silver, Space Gray, Gold, and Rose Gold, with delivery or in-store pickup available by next week.

As of now, this appears to be U.S. only.

It’s to add too the quarterly sales numbers, as they don’t list each iPhone anymore

is the iPhone SE still being assembled in India? or did assembly stop some time ago?

related question: what iPhone is currently being assembled in India (in order to comply with India's requirements for locally made)? iPhone 6s? 7?

Not sure but I wish all iPhone manufacturing moved to India. I would much rather help their economy grow than China’s.

Tempted to upgrade from my 16gig to the 128, but the front facing camera isn't the best. Wish Apple would just release an SE2 with Xs quality. The demand for a "normal" size phone that fits into your pocket is huge.

The weird thing about this is that I have an iPhone 7 and when I saw the headline i for some reason wanted to buy this for a split second

I went from a iPhone 6s Plus to the SE due to me misjudging how much I would like a larger screen. The 6s Plus was just too be for me and impossible to use one handed.

I also didn't care for 3D Touch and found it to be annoying, especially during one-handed use.
I understand that lots of people like the smaller size of the SE and that you don't like larger phones.
But you could have got a non plus sized phone
SE -> 6s -> 6S+

There wont be another SE, it hasn’t been refreshed in nearly 3 years.
It’s a dead product line, Apple selling it again out of desperation due to poor iphone sales.

I wonder if, in addition to clearing out inventory, they'll be using this to gauge the actual interest for smaller size phones. If all these SEs were to sell out over the weekend (depending on how many were available, of course), wouldn't that show conclusively that the market for smaller iPhones is still there?

Desperate times... No, actually, it's still a great little phone. Now they need to take the XR design, shrink it down to around the SE size, and watch how many people buy it. I'm not a small phone person but I think there's a big enough market to justify an SE2. I actually think if they stuffed the A11 processor, upgraded camera, added an upgraded display to wide gamut, they could sell this thing fro $400-$450 all day.

Shoot at that price, I'm nearly tempted to pick up a 128GB.
EXACTLY! A phone the size of the SE, but, with the new bezel-less design is just what I want.

It depends on the type of media, music for example would be equal on both devices, or maybe the edge going to the SE do to it being smaller.

If you mean video media, I agree. The larger size would be better, but I personally Never liked watching videos on small screens like the iPhone's, regardless if it was a plus model or not. I much rather watch media on an iPad Mini, Mac, or ATV.

sending messages the SE is horrible to use compared to a Plus screen.
I also agree with this statement, unless you are sending those messages one handed.

You do realise that you can turn 3d touch off. You should have just gone a 6s,..ots just the right size.
Yes, I figured this out after a few months of the 3D Touch driving me nuts.

I was referencing one of the major differences between the 6s Plus and the SE.

IMO, there were 4 main differences between the two that many people would like the 6s Plus over the SE.
1. screen size, which I addressed. I thought I would like the larger size more, but it ended up just being a hassle.
2. 3D Touch, which I also addressed. I know a lot of people like this feature, but it isn't for me.
3. Touch ID 2, which I did not mention because it was the biggest thing I missed when going from the 6s Plus to the SE.
4. The better camera, another thing I didn't mention, because I preferred the 6s Plus's camera.

You could also throw the bigger battery for the 6s Plus, but, I didn't see much difference between the two phones until after I upgraded my SE from iOS 10 to iOS 12. Then the SE started to suffer a little.

It's the clearance store, I'd think they found a couple of pallets of them in a warehouse somewhere, not that they started making them again.

Maybe, but if Apple misplaced a couple a pallets of iPhones and forgot about them for a while, I think there might be some management issues going on.
[doublepost=1547947019][/doublepost]
You preferred an even smaller screen than the SE?
I prefer the larger screen of the SE over the smaller 4s.

I meant the over all design of the iPhone, I think the 4s (and 4) is the best and most unique designed phone.

Other than that, those phones are identical (other than SE being faster).
. I am not sure what you mean.

Are you saying the 4s and SE are the same phone? or the 2G? or the 5s? or 6s Plus?

The 2G, 4s and SE have little in common.

The form factor of the 5s is the same as the SE, but obviously the internals are different?

The 6s Plus have almost identical internals, but obviously the outside is very different.

Are these made in India? Thy are making new units since last summer.
[doublepost=1547947344][/doublepost]This is one way to make up for the shortfall. But this could backfire if they start selling more of these than the XR models.

Yes, I am familiar with the 6s size. One of my girls has a 6 and the other has a 7.

There are other things I dislike about the 6 design that I just didn't get into earlier. For example, I really dislike the the rounded edges of the 6 design. I also didn't like the camera bump.

Plus, when I got rid of the 6s Plus, it was much cheaper to get an iPhone SE than a 6s, 7, or 8.
