X or XR??? ... that actually would be a tough choice.

XR has A12, battery, larger screen, improved single camera.

X has dual camera (older generation), OLED, smaller size, 3D touch. Some may factor Qualcomm depending on carrier.
Smart HDR is awesome, I dont take many pictures but the ones on my XR come out more vibrant than the ones on my X

Those are just numbers, the XR's screen is perfectly fine. If you hold both together you'll notice slight differences but its not night and day as the numbers would have you believe.

Pay premium get premium, once was apple, now u talk about slight differences and stuff, ughh

Over 1,000 units in stock for each of the 4 color and storage configurations. Looks like Apple is loaded with stock.

I think if I was in the market for an X or XR ... I would get the XR.

Totally happy with my XS though. If luck favors me, I will have this guy for 3+ years.

It’s a shame they don’t sell refurb iPhones in the U.K store.

Well, they do now:

I’m guessing this has launched as of today as I’ve never seen this before on their UK site!

Does anybody know if you can use the trade in value apple has for refurbished phones?

Thanks!

I have to admit having the plus size features on the XR is awesome, for me I felt the screen was wasted on the X/XS devices.

Apple made a big song and dance about how it was the biggest screen they've ever put in an iPhone and all that translated to was a couple of extra lines of text on the screen, the old Plus models could do more at once.

The XR having the plus features really works well and I finally feel that the screen is being used to its maximum potential.

For example the Twitch video streaming app on the X you'd have the video at the top and the chat at the bottom, but as soon as you pulled up the keyboard to chat the video would disappear off the top of the screen, reducing the stream you are watching to a radio show.

On the XR with its 0.21" bigger (5.85 vs 6.04") and lower resolution if I were to pull up the keyboard to chat on the Twitch app the Video, Chat, & Keyboard all fit on the screen at once which is far better from a usability point of view.

The 64GB wouldn't be enough for me. They have a 256BG X for $899, the same price as a brand new Xr.

Last year's APU + OLED screen + 2 cameras + 3D touch
or
This year's chip + LCD screen + 1 better camera + funky colors

I think I'd go with the Xr if this were my choice. That's what I'd recommend if anyone asked me, too.

Not sure why anyone would want this over the cheaper brand new XR, that is unless you are REALLY desperate for that OLED screen.

I've just traded my X in for an XR and it was the best move I made, the XR is the superior phone in my opinion.

Well, it IS also smaller, so maybe some people prefer that (I find the XR too big for me), and it’s got two lenses too and 3D Touch. Doubt people will care much about the steel body though. Though I wonder why it’s more expensive, most of the other specs are worse.

I realize oled displays are supposedly better, but don't they also also suffer from image burn-in. I have a friend who has an oled watch and the face on the display periodically jogs up/down/left/right to alleviate the issue...

Doesn't the XR have a lousy, sub-HD resolution screen? Doesn't the X have HD resolution?

Yeah, X has a resolution of 2436 x 1125 (better than HD 1920 x 1080) while the XR has a resolution of 1792 x 828 (worse than HD).
Note though that OLED displays use a different subpixel arrangement than LCDs which means the perceived resolution difference between the X(s) and Xr is somewhat smaller than those numbers would suggest.
