ha well I could be completely wrong in any case. Doesn't really matter much since they'll all be delivered on the 24th :D hopefully servers won't be too overloaded with everyone trying to activate their phones.

Haha. Yeah, but as long as I have my new iphone 4 in my hands the day of the release I am happy even if it cant be activated because there is always ebay.com. LOLOL

Fedex flight 86...The phones for So Cal must be going directly to Oakland and not to Memphis for sorting.

My tracking says that it left ANC at 5:07 PM and that coincides with FDX 86 from ANC to OAK.

I mentioned this and no one seemed to believe me. With all due respect, I think people WANT to be able to pre-sign because it's convenient. Do you really think a new iPhone is worthy of being left alone?

I just wanted to clarify that I didn't want pre-signing; my Fed-ex guy volunteered this info (perhaps other people had asked). I agree with you, even though I typically do pre-sign for other items as my location is safe, I do not want to do this with this baby. I am making a point of being there for it.

That "pre-sign" is like the 23rd date. It's a Fed Ex thing that Apple does not allow.

I was happy to hear that while the 23rd date is most likely incorrect as it was in previous times, the 10:30 AM delivery probably was correct.

I'm not signing the signature release. No way am I going to take the chance that they will leave the package sitting out...especially because so many people KNOW that the initial iPhones are arriving that day.

This release is far more well-known than we realize. A friend of mine Facebook messaged me last week to ask how I made out on the 15th. She had heard all about the "meltdown" (and she's not even an iPhone owner.)

I live in a security building and have my front door code linked to my cell phone...so even if I have to step out for a few minutes, and Fedex comes, he will press my code and I can talk to him on my cell phone and give him instructions. (That is, unless, of course, he is ALREADY inside my building delivering SEVERAL iphones to various neighbors. :D)

The local news had pieces on the iPhone today. Everyone knows. :)

Oakland is west coast sort hub for fedex unless your package is priority overnight. Mine is heading there too. Maybe I should try to get it tomorrow when I fly out of oak for a 1 day business trip?

If that's the only difference, then why are some phones being shipped IPDD and others IED? Why no consistency?

Did my theory (how many phones are being shipped to a specific area of the country; more == IPDD, less == IED) make any sense other than the customs part (even though the FedEx IPDD page specifically talks about "Lowered customs cost with consolidated clearance" for IPDD shipments)?

-- Nathan

yeah that makes no sense on why Apple did it that way. Im sorry i was just stating that IPD is Priority and 1030 commit time IED is 1500 (Business) 1630 for resi. that was the only point i was making... My Bad!

Hey. will you keep us posted on if Fed Ex changes their mind about having extra people work on Wed. to deliver iPhones? Thanks!

Being held til THURSDAY!

Its funny we actually got a memo that we were expecting 1600 iphones in our market on saturday to be held... but as we all know they werent processed til then. Guess thats Apples way of "toying with us"

Did anyone else's tracking say this because my phone still has not shipped from Alaska yet??

Jun 21, 2010 1:09 PM In transit ANCHORAGE, AK Package available for clearance

Mine says the same except for 1:35 PM. I haven't looked at the flight schedule, but I'm sure things will be fine.

Edit: I think our phones might be on the FDX14 flight from Anchorage to Indianapolis (which is supposed to land in ~40 minutes). It is weird though that the tracking didn't say it had departed from Anchorage... But not that I look at all of the flights, it could be a number of them lol. Or it might not have even left yet!

The time on the FedEx site when it left Anchorage and the actual departure time on FDX86 match (5:07PM). Every time I've ordered from Apple, it goes from Anchorage to Oakland. Pretty sure my iPhone is on that flight. It's scheduled to land at 9:31PM PDT... in about an hour. California people should see arrived in Oakland tonight.

Oh im not question whether it is or not. All priority overnight shipments go thru memphis. so that why im assuming with the iphone they bypass memphis so it doesnt get so congested during sort.

Whats funny i know that certain packages the go to CA actually go to Indy then to oakland.. NOT Memphis then to Oakland.. why that is no one can explain.

When you get your package look at the label..

if you see something like XH OAKA... the X means its priority and it went thru memphis Hub..

NH OAKA N means it goes thru Indy Hub

and the A at the end means Hold for pick up available!

im tired and useless info!

Hmm... don't think it's stopping at either Indy or Memphis... other Apple shipments to my location haven't. FDX86 is straight from Anchorage to Oakland with no stops.

BTW, Californa people: arrival time is now 9:59PM PDT in Oakland.

I think I'm in the same boat. My status shows in transit but time is 1:46PM, so my phone got scanned after yours. Its my understanding that the status doesn't update until it reaches its destination. So it would not say it departed anchorage until it actually gets scanned at its next stop. Weird I know, but I believe someone posted that info here. Anyway, I'll let you know what my status changes to.

FYI I'm in SoCal.

I think you might be right. If not I have been checking the departures on that flight tracker website to see when flights are leaving.

I wish I could go through and quote everyone that said no way we get them on the 23rd...

;)

Dear Apple Store Customer,

You recently received a Shipment Notification email from Apple advising you that your iPhone has shipped.

This email is to confirm that your delivery will occur on June 23rd. Although Apple and FedEx tracking information may currently indicate a later date, you can check the FedEx website the morning of the June 23rd to track your package to your doorstep.

In the event that you will not be available to accept delivery on June 23rd, it may be more convenient to use our pre-sign delivery option by visiting our Order Status website at http://www.apple.com/orderstatus. <http://www.apple.com/orderstatus>

What the heck?!

You still won't get them the 23rd. You can quote me on that.

BTW, mine also says expected delivery date the 23rd. Haven't gotten the email you did, but still, it's not happening.

I would have agreed with you until I got the e-mail. It seems pretty baseless to say it won't happen now with an explicit e-mail to the contrary.

It seems possible to me that the dramatic number of pre-orders has forced FedEx to deliver them over 2 days instead of only 1. And rather then leave a bunch of disappointed people by delivering a day late, they've decided to make some people extra happy by delivering a day early.

I agree, I mean, people can say we won't, and maybe we don't, but I have to side with Apple since they sent the email.
