Their keyboards are crap as well. Seriously, a laptop keyboard being sold with a desktop, that's just plain ridiculous. When I got my iMac, I left the keyboard and mouse in the box, neither have EVER been used.

The pre-chicklet white keyboards (circa 2004) were horrible. The chicklet style are... meh. I have the full size aluminum one here and I've been using them in one form or anything since my first Intel MacBook. I actually REALLY like the Magic Keyboard. The butterfly switches are nice when paired with some actual travel. (The new MBP is... tolerable.)

I have a Filco mechanical with Cherry MX blue switches at my office so... that's what I really like. Almost no one makes keyboards that nice.

a software updates solves most problem,, from Apple's standpoint, then if that doesn't work, we'll look into it.

Guys have we not learned by now that .0 through .1.x releases from Apple are always buggy betas, and never buy the beta release of their hardware?

This is just a repeat of the mid-2007 MacBook Pros with the defective NVIDIA GPUs and terrible drivers.

GPU benchmarks should be run comparing GPU performance of 10.12.1 and 10.12.2 once released.
I have a sneaky suspicion that the GPUs might be throttled to 'fix' this issue.

I very much doubt that both macOS AND BootCamp drivers have the same bug. As I've said previously I'm seeing corruption (which from past experience looks like overheating) in both macOS and BootCamp (Windows 10 Pro) on my 2016 MBP with Radeon 460.

If there was a bug due to overheating it would be visible under OpenGL. I ran Unigene Valley and there was no heat or bugs.

So far the bugs are confined to Metal/OpenCL in Adobe apps and colour profile switching.

Apple had like 4 years to make a new design, all the tech in this device is old nothing is cutting edge, its under-powered, has less ports to work with, its super expensive and carries the Apple brand name...

If anything, these laptops should be the most bug/issue free laptops in computer history.

Can't innovate my ass!
yeah, look at all those innovative colors that weren't there before.

I just bought an iPhone 6S+ because the iPhone 7 is missing a port that I require on my mobile device.
I'm about to buy last years laptop too because the current MacBook Pro is missing multiple ports that I require, and appears to have been rushed to market.

Did I miss this? I have asked on every thread for people to check glitches in Windows and so far zero screenshots.
Artefacts tend to stay on screen for just under a second and are pretty intermittent. I see a couple a day, sometimes none, using Windows 10 all day. Hard to capture a screenshot!
They tend to be black and grey square matrices and about 1 inch wide by 1/2" long on my 27" 1440p screen.
Have not done any stress testing however as this is during my day job.

Obviously not the same issue. If they only appears in Outlook but not other Office apps then it looks like a rendering bug in that app only.

In only they had released a MBP 15", well powered, with replaceable ssd, and a regular F function keys and scape key, it wouldn't be that bad. and a heavier battery... and a not rip off price...

Don't let my unfortunate experience be yours. I purchased the high end version of the 15" MacBook Pro with AMD graphics. Two days ago, it showed the graphic glitches described in this article. I pressed the left hand part of the screen with my thumb and the LCD started to crack. I don't recall dropping the laptop or doing anything which might have started the crack. Generally, I'm fairly careful with my laptop and carry it around in a laptop bag.

So, I go to my local Apple Store to try to get my display fixed. The Apple Genius explained that they don't have the tools and replacement parts to fix my MacBook Pro yet. These tools and replacement parts would be coming next week. They wouldn't replace my MacBook Pro either so I will have to wait 1.5 weeks for it to get fixed.

To make matters worse, I purchased AppleCare for my MacBook Pro because I've had good experience with AppleCare for my iPhone and repairing cracked screens from accidental damage. Unfortunately, I didn't read the fine print and accidental damage like cracked displays isn't covered with AppleCare for MacBooks. So, now I have to wait 1.5 weeks and pay $680 to get my new MacBook fixed. Needless to say I'm not very happy and I have serious concerns about the durability of the MacBook Pro LCD display and enclosure. Is it really this fragile?

My Learnings:
  • Protect your 15" MacBook Pro. If my experience is typical then the LCD enclosure seems to be very fragile.
  • Do not put papers or anything between the top and keyboard. Maybe putting papers between the keyboard and screen contributed to my problem.
  • Read the fine print before buying AppleCare for MacBooks. Accidents liked cracked displays are not covered for MacBooks. Replacement batteries (80%) are covered. Repairs of screens are not and cost $680 USD.
  • Wait to buy MacBooks as Apple doesn't supply Apple Stores with replacement parts and tools to fix MacBooks until several months after public release.

I've been reading MacRumors for years... thank you so much for collecting all these amazing articles and publishing.
This is the first year where I've genuinely seen MacRumors members change from very happy people having fun discussions and heated discussions, to truly angry people (at Apple) for peeing in their ear and trying to tell us its raining.
Apple... please listen to us. We are not just niche people, but people who used to believe in what you were doing, and you are driving us away.
I can verify your statement, I have to explain myself a lot less these days!

A year ago I still had to frequently explain why I think that Apple is headed South, 2 years ago it was a lot harder to convince folks.

Well, guess these days it's becoming glaringly obvious and what used to be a trend with signals is now a full on exhibition of neglected values.

Something just occurred to me...

If this is indeed a software(firmware/kernel/driver/OS/application) issue, why is it only effecting a subset of users? Shouldn't it happen on every new MBP? (Considering it seems to happen at the login screen, Photos, etc..something most users will use)

This is actually hotly debated right now, and some will very much disagree with your statement.

Except battery life... and ports..... and glowing apple logo... and (etc.)
For base models, it's somewhat complicated, since the base speed is faster but the maximum turbo boost is lower.

That said, none of this is unexpected. Skylake didn't bring massive performance improvements. Neither will Kaby Lake. Blaming Apple for Intel's processors not being faster is missing the point.

The ports on the 2016 are better since they support USB 3.1 Gen 2 and Thunderbolt 3 speeds.

What benefit does the glowing apple logo bring?

The battery life is better than my old one, the ports are better in every way - only someone who doesn't own one and joins in with silly dongle memes would suggest other wise. I've updated all my cables to use the far better USB-C connector instead of USB-A, it's a vast and enjoyable upgrade I wish id have the choice to do 15 years ago. I also now ironically get to use less hubs and cables as I know have ports which can do more and more USB ports than before.

Glowing logo though - really?

Aaaaaand my statement still stands.

I don't think you understand... many of us HAD one, and returned it due to the horrible battery life. Yes, that's a reason in and of itself to return one of these. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean I don't have one (or don't currently have one, as it may be). These have turned out to be some of the worst MacBook Pros yet, as far as release goes. Expect the sales to drop dramatically as compared to last year's model. For those of us who use these as a PRO machine, not just some web-browsing machine, we are disappointed and underwhelmed. Maybe next year. For people like you, I guess watching some cat videos on it might be quite nice, though, and I don't doubt that.

AND your point doesn't stand. The MacBook Pro isn't intended to lure buyers of the 2015 model. It is aimed at buyers of older Macs. Most people, including self-proclaimed "pros" don't upgrade computers every year. Intel has made incremental improvements.

I don't disagree that the reduced battery life is a disappointment. But my solution would have angered self-proclaimed "pros" like you even more. Apple probably should have stuck with the 15W processor family for all but the highest-end 13" model. The speed differences, particularly on the CPU, aren't that great.

Overall, I think these are the best MacBook Pros to date, but perhaps Apple would have been better off ignoring the critics who panned them for not upgrading to Skylake, and just released them with Kaby Lake next spring. They won't be much faster, but Intel has further refined the power consumption, so the real world battery life would be better.

Just cancelled my order for a max spec 15"

I'll stick with my current system for another year until all these issues are resolved!

I'd monitor the major PC makers to see if they have the same teething issues with Kaby Lake as they did with Skylake. For example, Microsoft had big issues with the Surface Book during its release, particularly with graphics drivers. I had hoped that Apple being late would have avoided some of these issues, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case. Oddly the Skylake MacBook doesn't have these issues and has been a nice improvement over the Broadwell MacBook, but it doesn't use the Iris graphics or a dedicated GPU like the 13" and 15", respectively.

Tim Cook really should find a successor. He has lack lustered this company into the ground. I'm sitting here considering a hackintosh as a desktop replacement. I actually have work to do, Apple doesn't care if I do.
