I learnt my lesson buying the first gen Retina MacBook Pro in 2012 with the LCD burn-in, GPU issues and anti glare peeling off issues. Going to wait for the 2nd or 3rd gen model before I dive in again with a new redesign.

I'm not 100% sold on him, But from all the Cabal of leaders currently at Apple, He seems to be the one guy who seems genuinely interested in the tech. Almost like it's a love and passion for him.

Whenever I hear Ive speak, it's like he's committing verbal masturbation about how great a designer he is and how he's single handedly responsible for Apples fortune. The worst is when he talks about design and doesn't say anything of substance but just spits out verbal diarrhoea of buzzwords.

Cook never seems genuine. He constantly repeats the same "amazing" and "magical" and "Best is yet to come" and hasn't truly delivered on any of his bold claims about "pipelines". he comes across as insincere and his actions speak more to his money side and not leadership.

whenever Schiller talks, It's always sounding like Marketing speak, or marketing damage control. again, nothing he says feels genuine. Everything he says is calculated to upsell everything. Full of Hyperbole and insincerity.

Ahrendts - doesn't get to talk much, But under her, Apple's stores and marketting around them has dramatically shifted to try and make apple appear to be boutique and upscale. Attempting to prove Apple as an exotic brand. Which really doesn't mesh well with the fact they're selling consumer technology to the masses. Since she's taken over, I've never seen the local Apple stores as vacant. The days of lineups and large crowds are behind since the changes. And the newest attempt to make apple stores into "Meeting places" seems like a move nobody wants.

Hate to bring up the ghost of Jobs again, cause it's been beaten to death. But at this point, it just feels like the "kids" have been left to play with daddy's fortune. But don't actually have that link with the population they're supposed to be serving to. they've become so full of themselves due to their history that they don't believe they can be humbled.

I think it should be said that not everyone is a good/great *presenter*. A person can be the best in his/her field without being a good presenter (especially in this industry).

I'd rather recognize Ive for the great work he has done rather than his public speaking ability. My take away from anytime i've seen him on stage is how uncomfortable he looked. The only time I thought he did a great job was his speech at the Apple campus after Jobs passed away.

Cook. Steve Jobs was the CEO who brought Apple back from the brink.... if it hadn't been for the supply-chain management of Cook, i dont think it would have played out the way it did. But his presentations, quite frankly, come off as fake. And im none too fond of the work he is doing as CEO (one major difference between him and Jobs.... Cook cant seem to be able to say 'no' to unfinished/bad ideas).

Schiller. I think he has enthusiasm for Mac hardware. I like his stage humor.

Something I noticed at the recent MacBook keynote.... I'm not fond of the Apple managers applauding and high-fiving each other at the end of each 'segment'.

Cheers

"I am also very worried that the upcoming new file system from Apple will be an utter nightmare of bugs and data lose.

I guess it is. Why? Look at the SMBX (Apples own File Transfer Protocol implementation for Windows File Sharing) or the rewritten USB Stack (several connection issues with external hardware) and all those WiFi issues that were introduced with the DiscoveryD service. Windows 10 doesn't have any of these problems and is having a more advanced file system. Apple needs to do it's homework well otherwise they will never get it.

"It's a fantastic machine" LOL. Way overpriced this year, and many complain of lackluster performance. 2015 is the model you want. Trust me, I have one. (Plus you get to keep all your ports) ;)

No you don’t, I still own both and it kills the 2015 model in every way.

I have been trying out Windows 10 as a virtual machine and so far it works very well. For encryption, is Windows 10 still using BitLocker or is it something else now?
Also, I thought Apple abandoned DiscoveryD service since it was so bad, did they keep it?

I call BS. I see the issues in BootCamp as well as in macOS. How is the 10.12.2 update going to fix that?!

DING!!! No more calls, we have a winner. Cook, Ive, Ferenghi, and Cue.... those doods are 1000% sure they are always right. Since Steve left nobody has the authority to smack those guys back into reality. That's why i don't expect it to ever get better. Unless the computer division gets spun off into it's own company ( which would be a win for BOTH sides ) those of us who need "trucks" ( Jobs speak for powerful computers ) are doomed.

Did apple resolve the problem with mac pro 2013 gpu with software?
I’m not sure but obviously it won;t work in all cases. An example from a company I used to work for - I paraphrase as I don't want to be identified, (or sued).
So lets suppose you make a car that has an automatic gearbox that vibrates when it selects second from gear at 100mph. My company re-wrote the software so that the transmission is prevented from doing that. It didn’t actually fix the problem but it did remove the symptoms.

Add me to the list. But my experience with Apple has been a nightmare on top of it. They recommended I send it in to be repaired, not replaced. Replaced would take 4-6 weeks and a repair just a few days. I've had enough Mac products to know thats true normally. My need was a working machine not a repair. They sent a box and then... nothing. Not for 6 days before I could get a reply from anyone at Apple. A senior advisor called me to tell me that because this is so new, and they haven't seen it before that it falls into an internal Apple program... to make the next generation super better!... It will be 4 weeks before they would even start my repair, because they have to study it. OR I could by a new one... yadda yadda 7 to 10 days. If they had told me that in the begining I would have opted for the faster option and had a new box... but now I am going to have to wait 10 days more... in addition to the 6 I waited while they did nothing. Screw my 5 grand, and screw my clients... here is $100 gift card. #FML
How about a moment of silence for Steve Jobs. The dream is dead.

The 2015 is slower than the 2016.

yeah. There are some things that could be done with softwares to fix certain issues...

I've said it before an I'll say it again... Apple is on the decline

After the weak iPhone 7 and MacBook Pro release I come to this site less and less.

#Xerox

So a problem with FileVault eh..

So no one in Apple thought about testing their software before releasing??
Encryption decryption issue??

This is horrible...mess after mess.

I have a feeling that --

In olden times when Jobs said we release in 4 weeks people worked around the clock and got as close as possible, then Jobs made the final call if enough problems were fixed or not. I don't think for one minute that these problems with the MB Pro were unknown. With Cook, who I hear is a super nice guy, says release in 4 weeks everybody just shrugs their shoulders and puts out whatever they have. No one questions it until after the fact and the PR is bad.

The wrath of Jobs (or God) is gone. We have a politically correct Apple, who respects everyones opinion, listens, create committees, does not hurt anyone's self esteem, and finally does not required brilliant performance since it might hurt someone on the team by causing them to have bad dreams or feel insecure.

Wouldn't matter which gen you got. GPUs and screens are not made by Apple. They only create the logic board and case and then assemble it all.

I disagree..

Tim Cook is a numbers man more than Jobs. If you think Tim Cook cares a lot about feelings, tell that to Scott Forstall.
Look at the factories he closed down and shipped overseas for profits.

They have grown too big and do not have enough heads that they can trust.

From iOS / Mac Os / watch OS/ Car OS....bugs everywhere...

QC is crappy and COOK have no idea how to deal with it.

There is huge gap between software and hardware in Apple.
NO ONE TESTED bootcamp drivers or file vault ?

Based on current timelines you might be waiting until 2020 for the third gen.

not to beat a dead horse or anything, but for the cost of these machines, you would expect them to be damn near bug free
With the cost of ALL Apple products, I expect them to be bug free.

THAT IS WHAT I AM PAYING FOR, AND WHY I STARTED USING APPLE PRODUCTS IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!
