I disagree..

Tim Cook is a numbers man more than Jobs. If you think Tim Cook cares a lot about feelings, tell that to Scott Forstall.
Look at the factories he closed down and shipped overseas for profits.

Precisely what factories did Tim Cook shut down?

I don't blame you. I had a 2008 17" with the dreaded nVidia GPU that died on my 4 times, then another 2011 17" which died on my 3 times, also the GPU. I've only been using this machine for about 4 days now, but touch wood no issues yet.
just wait for it.....Apple is pretty consistent with their GPU failures.

All I took from that is that they still don't know what the problem is
And the stupid thing is, the problem is VERY EASY to track down. If the machine is glitching with the graphics because of a software issue, then this issue will only be present when running macOs. If the problem is hardware related, it should be able to be replicated running a different operating system - like Windows for example.

Since ALL Macs come with the ability to run both macOs and Windows, it would seem to be an obvious thing to do to see if the problem can be triggered in both operating systems. Additionally, Windows has far better tools for monitoring things like the heat generated by the graphics card, and better tools for stress tests.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if this is a problem with overheating and Apple's "fix" is to throttle the GPU.

Sierra is pretty garbage from a graphics standpoint. My Mid-2012 didn't have any graphics issues until I upgraded to Sierra. Sierra also severely crippled the DisplayLink USB display adapters we use on some machines at work. DisplayLink is waiting on Apple to fix Sierra, they can't fix it themselves.

Graphics drivers...

I love Apple, I really do but there are some things they just cannot ever seem to get right.

Oh yeah, and designing mice. They make the world's greatest trackpads but their mice have been horrible for like... forever.

Sounds reasonable. Remember how Apple switches CPU cores off because they can't manage the heat in their thin iMac and MacBooks? Even the Mac Pro 2013 is throttling power down if you use all CPU and GPU cores. It is like a car that drives only 100 MpH but is advertised with 300 MpH maximum speed. The integrated graphics that Apple is using now in their MacBooks is far away from the performance of dedicated graphics chips - not really state-of-the-art technology which claims the word "Professional'.
And then, of course, Apple usually offer a range of "upgrade" options. What is the point of spending good money to upgrade the CPU or graphics card in a computer, if you can't use the extra power due to overheating and thermal throttling?

Their keyboards are crap as well. Seriously, a laptop keyboard being sold with a desktop, that's just plain ridiculous. When I got my iMac, I left the keyboard and mouse in the box, neither have EVER been used.

Well I bought the 2799 model 3 days ago and now I am seeing Artifacts whenever I wake the computer. Hope this is just a software issue and the fix is released quickly. Ill give them the 14 days to fix the problem or I'm returning it. Love the machine but not gonna wait past the 14 day return policy in hopes it gets fixed. Especially for the price we are paying for these " Fantastic machines".

I learnt my lesson buying the first gen Retina MacBook Pro in 2012 with the LCD burn-in, GPU issues and anti glare peeling off issues. Going to wait for the 2nd or 3rd gen model before I dive in again with a new redesign.

You are wasting your time.. all everyone ever seems to do on here is wait.. the next 2/3 generations will have it's own problems, design tweaks, hardware bumps, more bugs.

People acting all like Apple hardware issues are new... almost every single device I've owned has come with some sort of problems, I've had several rMBPs replaced since 2012 and had Mac issues before this.

It's still far better than when I used windows.

Tech isn't very reliable, it's rushed out the door at earliest opportunity. a defect can come up at any time..

Good thing with Apple is that replacement is generally easy with defects so as long as u regularly take backups it's all good.

Don't believe me just check the forums of every other hardware vendor on the planet, tech forums, anywhere... look at all the issues, it's universal.

Yep, that would be my guess too. Some users ( reported earlier in this thread ) are reporting graphics issues in Bootcamp and not just MacOS, so it is looking less like a MacOS software issue.

If possible, I'd return it immediately for a full refund. Returns send a louder message to Apple than posts on MR. Not only will this help you but might contribute to the message Apple needs to hear.

I've been reading MacRumors for years... thank you so much for collecting all these amazing articles and publishing.
This is the first year where I've genuinely seen MacRumors members change from very happy people having fun discussions and heated discussions, to truly angry people (at Apple) for peeing in their ear and trying to tell us its raining.
Apple... please listen to us. We are not just niche people, but people who used to believe in what you were doing, and you are driving us away.
Do Apple executives have any idea how angry their loyal customer base is? Are they living in their own reality distortion field?

Does anyone else get the feeling that Apple moved most of their best HW/SW developers over to iOS / iDevices some time ago? Not that iOS is without bugs, but damn, brand new MacBook Pros shipping with serious graphics problems?

Edit: I guess if we look at the history of dGPUs in Macs, this isn't really anything new...

No offense but i think asian workers are the only ones who would have enough working morale to mass produce electronics. Everyone else is just lazy :D

In the field of psychology I believe your opinion is classified as "projection"

Nothing to see here... all the problems are third-party issues. Apple can do no wrong according to MacRumors and Apple Insider.
