Nine people, yes. But how many days have they been using it? And it isn't even on sale in most of the world yet...

When ten times more people have been using the phone 200 times longer, there will bee 9x9x9x9x9 bent phones.

Hmm. In your scenario, if the percentage holds up and is linear, then I think the math would actually be:

9 * 10 * 200. Which is 18,000.

If there are currently, let's say, 2 million 6+ users, then that would be 18,000 out of 20million. That's about 0.1%.

Left unsaid by Apple:

Only 90 people have managed to get hold of an iPhone 6 Plus so far. 9 of them now have bent iPhones.

/snark

But seriously, anyone here who has paid any attention to how Apple operates knows that they downplay even horribly serious software and hardware issues as company policy. What do you expect them to say? That 50 people have already come in and asked for replacements for bent units after owning an iPhone 6 Plus for a grand total of, what, five days? With two days being on a weekend when they may not have even needed to leave the house?

I will trust user reports a hell of a lot more than I'll ever trust statements from any corporation, including Apple. Time will tell exactly how many people continue to complain of bent iPhones in the coming months. I will not be immediately dismissive of the issue just because the company that makes the product says everything's fine. That's what they always say. You all say not to be so immediately credulous of what shows up on the Internet, well, the same goes in the opposite direction. Don't be so immediately credulous of everything Apple says just because they're you're (our) favorite company.

Seriously though, don't bend your phone to test this. Take your phone out of your pocket when sitting down or better still don't put it in your pants. The LCD surfaces aren't designed to bend (two layers and all that). I can imagine dead pixels appearing if you regularly bend the LCD this way.

It would be great if someone was able to pinpoint those "steel and titanium inserts" on the iFixit photos. I don't see them.

Yea i heard that if you hold a iPhone 4 and cover up the Antt get bad reception

Yea remember this one, I had a iPhone and never had this problem, If you give the phone the grip of death in a poor coverage area you getting less bars. This never happened to me, another anti Apple controversy made up by some Anti Apple person.

Oh and my prototype Apple Ring is turning my ring finger green and it is sore and i could loose a finger because of it. This is way in the future anti Apple YouTube video clip that has not been made up yet and posted on the Internet.

Maybe put your iPhone in the pocket facing the other way? It may actually bend it back!

That's a great way to crack a screen.

I see no point in asking for a replacement. The best is to contact Apple and ask for a full refund.

Apple has commented on the ongoing complaints about the iPhone 6 Plus bending in user pockets, telling CNBC that the new iPhones include steel/titanium inserts to reinforce stress locations and that they use the "strongest glass in the industry."

The company went on to say that only nine customers had complained about bent iPhones, suggesting the issue is not as widespread as it has appeared in the media. It also stated that both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have met or exceeded testing for strength and durability, and that bending in the iPhone 6 Plus during normal use is "extremely rare."

Reports of the iPhone 6 Plus's weakness to bending first began trickling in on Monday, after several MacRumors forum members shared images of devices that had bent while in a pocket. The bending issue went viral after a YouTuber posted a video of the iPhone 6 Plus warping out of shape when bent in his hands, which caused significant damage near the device's volume buttons.

Given the media attention the bending received, it was difficult to tell how many users were truly affected by iPhone 6 Plus bending during real world usage. Though Apple kept quiet on the issue until today, the company has been directing its support staff to replace affected phones under warranty following a visual inspection.

I think its Android users trying to make a bad name for Apple. I have had mine since the 19th and have had no issues.

Some people are quick! :)

The guy from unboxing therapy is getting called all kind of names as if he did something to personally offend people with iPhones lol. Both Apple and Samsung fanboys/sheople crack me up

You are naive and ignorant son!

Apple sells 10 million units. 9 people complain of a problem. The media focuses on the 9 people not the 9,999,991 who are doing fine.

Frankly, if you buy an ultra thin $700 computer, which the iPhone is, and mistreat it, you kind of get what you deserve.

The use of the term 'bendgate' is also so pathetic. It could not be a more minor issue and Apple have already said they will make it right with those nine people.

So where's the 'gate?'

But we don't know the exact number of people that can't complain or chose to live with a slightly bent phone, besides the undeclared number of people with bent iPhones is bound to increase as weeks go by, more sales = various usage scenarios, so yes it is an issue, but nothing to panic about since you can't expect aluminum not to bend under pressure so it's typical yet i expected more endurance.

Does anyone know what "bent" means in the UK?
1. Make the peace sign with your hand.
2. Keeping the peace sign intact, turn your hand around 180 degrees and put your mouth between your middle and index finger.
3. Make a loud farting/sputtering sound and quickly raise your peace sign up in the air.

Internet gullibility is why people get conned out of their hard earned money, day in day out EVERY SINGLE DAY. Bloke on eBay says "I have a car for sale" and he doesn't - person sends paypal payment... waits... AND WAITS...

NO CAR.

Stupidity isn't the preserve of "well respected" tech bloggers with back to front baseball caps on, who post FUD spreading iPhone bending videos on YouTube - it's also adopted by VERY stupid people who are incapable of independant thought... IE, a huge majority of the population who use the 'net.

Did it ever occur to the writers and owners of these rumor sites that without Apple they wouldn't exist?. Maybe they should fact check stories about the hand that feeds them.

Right - because the media NEVER creates chaos unless the story is ABSOLUTELY true

On the other side, companies never try to minimise a real problem, right?

Steve Jobs:
"This has been blown so out of proportion that it's incredible. There is no Antennagate."

Said with Apple starting to offer free rubber bumper cases to iPhone 4 owners, then allegedly firing the responsible executive and lo and behold, iPhone 4S with a redesigned antenna which fixes exactly the problem Apple stated did not exist in the first place...

I think there is a part of sensationalism in the iPhone 6+ "bending" media coverage, but I also think a problem actually exists (hopefully much less severe than what the "media" describe).

They are too greedy to care about the quality of their stories. Fact.
