They did the same with the 3GS. Sold like hotcakes.
The fact that it sells a lot does not mean it is not a disappointment. I'd be interested to see what happens to Apple's marketshare though....
Why would you buy any technology in that case? There's always something better round the corner.
Obviously, but if the year-to-year upgrades are more or less on par with one another, than it's understandable. If you sell something in 2011 that doesn't reflect the best of what 2011 is capable of, then "upgrade" is a suspect term.
Ah yes. Made up statistics that support your viewpoint. Please, provide real evidence that it's a 20:1 ratio for people wanting physically bigger screens.
Sorry that my obvious hyperbole escaped you, but a quick perusal of these forums (filled with self-proclaimed mac fans, I might add) AND the design specs of competing phones shows a pretty obvious trend in customer desire. Furthermore, we BOTH know the iPhone 5 (I guess the 2012 iPhone...) WILL have a bigger screen. If Apple sticks to a 3.5 inch screen for the 5, I will eat my words, but they will not, and what will you say then? In 2011, I didn't want a large screen, but in 2012 I do? Give me a break. The worst kind of fanboyism: blindly conforming your tastes to what is available. "Oh, Apple doesn't make computers with blu-ray...I don't need bluray." "Oh that only comes in one color...I don't like red that much anyways." If you don't personally want a bigger screen, that's fine, but the public at large does; Apple doesn't always know best.
Oh no! Four months is such a long period of time...
