Given that this even is pretty much guaranteed to be an iPhone event. Does anyone else look at it this way?

Apples is progressively increasing the depth to which they refresh their product, as this happens small refreshes become less significant. When they refreshed the MacBook line a few months ago adding ThunderBolt and the Sandy Bridge processors, it was a small refresh, and so it didn't get much coverage or assessment besides the articles that wrote about it and what appeared on the website. Just as surely, a mere 4S refresh would get as much if not less coverage. Only unveiling that at the event would not only be a lousy, disappointing start to the Tim Cook era at Apple, but would also be a pretty miniscule thing to rent out the Yerba Buena Center and prepare an whole huge media event for.

Just my two cents.

So there is nothing wrong with economy right? Politicians have been lying that people have no jobs and can afford iPhones.:confused:

Apple seems to be the only company kicking ass in this economy.

Yep, I was lucky enough this year to get a new iMac beginning of this month and a iPod Touch on my b-day which is during June. But I still can not afford a iPhone service. AT&T and other iPhone sellers need to add back unlimited data back but for a cheaper price or it least a family pack.

As for economy, you would think it is odd Apple is doing so well, I was at Disneyland during summer and I was shocked how ****ing packed it was for the price of the tickets. I do not get where people are getting their money and yet they say no jobs but they can still pay for their iPhone plans.

People losing the chance for vacation.
People camping out for an electronic device.
Welcome to America.

LOL thats what i thought, i waited 20 minutes in line on launch day of the 4 here and i was already getting impatient and many people left. i eventually got one that day but i guess we arent just the waiting or patient kind here

this is why america has no money, people rely on their credit cards they can never pay the bill for. whenever i stream US tv i'm always shocked how many "credit" or later payment advertisements there are. i would never buy anything i can't fully pay at once, i either wait til i can actually afford it or have to look for something cheaper

Remember Apple allows you to buy everything on financing. I wonder if Apple required every customer to pay 100% cash up front how good their sales would really be!

Maybe it's two different demographics. I think a lot of the people you are seeing in Disneyland and Apple stores are tourists (from out of country too). Those people have money. The people who don't have the money and are out of a job (the people they talk about) are probably not there.

But I have seen a fast food worker with a white iPhone 4, so I agree. Where does all the money come from?

People may also just spend their money on that and that's it. They may not have a decent car, a decent shelter, decent clothes, decent food, etc. They may just have a decent electronic (like an Apple item) and that's it. Or maybe they don't save a penny and just spend spend spend.

whenever I watch NFL feed from a US source, I'm always amazed by the car commercials and the $0 down, $0 signing, $0 drive away. no mention of fuel economy, crash rating, or CO2/km.

my German colleagues, that watch the games as well, really enjoy the American commercials. they can never guess what the product actually is.

Show me some statistics. Otherwise, it's all talk.

probably because that number would not be real helpful with a country not using the metric system now would it (I'm joking here)
But that argument is still bogus, commercials are supposed to start a buying impulse, emotional bonds etc.
When you decide what car you're gonna buy, you're hopefully doing just slightly more research than watching commercials during a NFL game?
Don't really think all that info is really necessary AT THAT POINT, if the company decides it doesn't want to brag about it's fuel efficiency?

We are getting closer and closer....and closer.......and little more closer..close......very very very close....

Every German auto commercial has it (not sure if by law) and I was quoting a German post.

That's still no where close to what Acid had originally said. It's no secret among college student that demand for them in these economic times are lowering quite substantially. Also, I would expect Germany to be doing well as they are the EU's strongest economy and number 5 in the world.

Well given the rumors that we have right now a 14th launch lines up with the rumor announcement and gives about a week for pre orders.

Guess what - Americans with college degrees(non-liberal arts) are almost fully employed still.

to be blunt with you NO it is not. It is very far from it. Full employment being with a degree is less than 1/2 what it is now. It is very very far from what it is now.
