It has a better rear camera, and a higher resolution front-facing camera. It also has a faster processor. It's thinner and lighter, and it doesn't have glass on both the front and the back. The display is thinner, so there's less glass between you and the display, or between your finger and the touch screen.

Also, the iPhone 5 has the new dock connector, which is smaller, and you can plug it in either way.
Still not worth an upgrade IMO. I would most likely case it anyways as it would be far too small to hold making those features a moot point.

I really think apple needs to stop waging this war on weight and thickness. I think most people would prefer a larger battery, than a fragile phone made with an average battery.

A case would make the cameras, processors, weight, touch screen improvements a moot point?

Your comparing apples to oranges here. Literally everything today is run by computers. So yes you need to learn it. Why would I have to learn to do something without an OBD? Every car today has them, and low and behold most of them are computer systems.

OK, I'm going to call out anyone who keeps using the word "literally" inappropriately.

Skateboards and bicycles are not run by computers.

The automatic mechanical watch I'm wearing is not run by computers.

My sneakers are not run by computers.

The tree outside my house is not run by computers.

Dogs are not run by computers.

My toilet is not run by computers.

"Literally" is not a generic word simply used to add emphasis. Don't do that, you're better than that.

And while you're at it, definitely don't pronounce the term et cetera like "ex setra" because then I will literally have to punch you in the nose.

:p

Or is that what Apple wants you to think? Have you used any of those other phones?

You basically proved my point, that you would just blindly buy anything Apple sells.

Between me and my wife, I've owned multiple phone over the past several years - Samsung, HTC, Sony, Nokia and RIM. And there is certainly a difference in quality and how well it works (especially software wise). I'm not the type person to fall into marketing BS, but I am open minded enough to give other products a try. But if something is working very well, much better than the rest, why would I not continue with what works best for me?

Pre-ordered a 32Gb slate version today in the UK, but won't ship until October. Never mind, it's something to look forward to.

Only issue I see, is regarding the Nano Sim. As it's pre-ordered it won't come with a sim, which means I have to get one from Vodafone - issue is, they have no ETA on when it arrives.

As its a few weeks away, hopefully they should arrive by the time the phone delivers!

I'm not getting this notion of "too small to hold." Can you explain how it works? Do you have Andre the Giant hands or something, and the phone might get lost in the abysses between your fingers?

Have you ever used a Nokia phone before ?

Yes - i sold my wife's Samsung Galaxy S and gave her my iPhone 4S (black). I ordered an iPhone 4s (white) for myself and borrowed a friends lumia 900 for about a week and hated it. While Windows mobile looks cool and innovative - its just annoying after a couple days. Needless to say, I was very happy when I received my iPhone 4s in the mail after that long week!

The 4S caseless is just too small. Not much else to explain.

I'm upgrading from a 4. I've skipped the last two "S" models, because I don't want to pay the early termination fee on my contract.

Do you want me to send you back to where you were?!? UNEMPLOYED!!!!! IN GREENLAND!!!!!!

I'd just like to comment, that Android owners are generally more technologically advanced and knowledgable than iPhone owners. Look at the software community based around android compared to iOS. Not to be sexist, but there is a reason so many women use iphones.

Might be true of some of the new owners...

When I got an iPhone in 2007 it took almost a year before I saw very many others with one - other than extreme tech types - of which I suppose I qualify as one.

I think .27 million were sold in Q3 2007 and 26 million in Q3 2012 (and 35 million in the quarter before that).

Obviously the growth is in folks that are not part of a hard-core tech or even mac faithful.

All those things are pointless if the OS running it still sucks.

Faster processor, graphics, camera, lighter weight... In other words, more powerful apps, better photos. Even if the OS did suck, those things would still be great improvements. I get it, you don't like it. You just need to work on your rapidly changing reasons why a bit.

Maybe I am just falling off of the Apple bandwagon over their lackluster products lately. I don't want everything to be smaller like Apple seems to want every product in their line to be.

Let's focus on this - what does another phone have that the iPhone doesn't? (don't even say NFC because there is no point to that right now)

And a zoo comprises animals. It is not comprised of them.

And when you say "it's my forte" there's only one syllable in "forte".

And don't say you're nauseous, because nauseous things are those that make others sick. The word is "nauseated".

Finally, pandas only appear in odd numbers. If you see an even number of pandas, there is always one you have overlooked.

I don't care about NFC, most likely won't even use it. Just as I don't really use Siri. My biggest gripe with the iPhone is that it is getting to small to be useful and the OS is way too out dated.

My upgrade date is 10/7/12. Any chance for me to be able to pick it up from the VZW store then? Will it be backordered?

What do you want your phone to do?

Please, dazzle me with your innovative input on this "subtle upgrade", at least that's how I see it by reading the last 20 post from you.
