Sadly, the AW allowing to unlock the iPhone means that any touch ID implementation on the iPhone will pushed away…. While this will push more AW sales it would be smart to launch before the mask requirements drop.

Yay! This is the best iPhone Apple has worked on. I’m very positive Apple can’t wait to unveil the new iPhone in September.

Bloomberg: Apple asks suppliers to build 90 million ‘iPhone 13’ units by the end of 2021

Do you guys know how crazy this sounds? That’s 90,000,000.00 iPhones that Apple is focused on building and distributing it around the world. I bet you guys, it will still be back-ordered. Demand will be off the charts. Magnificent! 🥶

Bring it on Apple. My wallet is READY!
90 million phones could get pricey. Make sure your wallet can handle that much at once.

With how often folks on this site complain that there hasn’t been a reason worth upgrading for years I feel like this thread won’t be much different.

That said, every single smaller notch render makes it look like any ugly and generic Android phone. I’d rather see them wait until they can shrink it into the slim bezel that remains; would make the removal more impactful and there wouldn’t be an ugly half-step.
No matter what, there will be complaining on MR. lol

Looking forward to a new 13 mini. :D

No Touch ID??? Apple you're killing me. FaceID+masks = horrible. I use Apple Pay 100% of the time I shop, and I have some loyalty cards on there too, typing my PIN code in front of the whole world at least twice when I buy something SUX. And to make matters worse, my work security profile requires an 8 digit PIN code :(

I'm generally happy with my 12 Mini. Coming from an 8+, I did worry about the smaller screen size. It really hasn't been an issue to this point.

While I am glad they are apparently making a 13 Mini, I probably won't get one unless perhaps they add some pro features to it. I had wanted TouchID in some form. But apparently not this year, folks! And since I have the Apple Watch (series 5) now, using Apple Pay with it doesn't make me long for TouchID as much. Plus with that update from Apple, I can unlock my phone with my watch now too.

So unless I get some sort of real telephoto option with the 13 Mini, I will stay put this year. Sounds like next year is the one with more updates. Even if it means that maybe a Mini sadly won't be offered after this year.

I really wanted to purchase the last iPhone mini, but with no Touch ID (under the display or in the button) I’m seriously considering to wait another year, even if this means getting a huge 6.1” iPhone... I can barely manage it with one hand.

Maybe it is a better solution to just use a easier to type passcode. What a disaster, what a shame, having to type a code to unlock the iPhone in 2021, when all the other big phone companies have implemented a fingerprint reader under the display... even if it was on the back of the phone, I would be happy with that.

Makes sense as they might have lost X-Mas sales due to late release last year. Hopefully this year brings features that accompany that "Oh, I want to upgrade" feeling we got in the past (1st gen to iPhone 4).
"Oh I want to upgrade" feeling was due to the low state of technology and the rapid pace of development in the early years of smart phones. Now it doesn't matter so much, all the displays get rated as virtually indistinguishable from reality, last-year's iPhone is consistently faster than the best android can do currently (but they are all fast enough, so does anybody care anymore?). New OS features get rolled back for many generations of phones because the technology has been there for awhile.
So maybe you can give us a list of new and exciting features that current generations of phones just don't have?

I totally don't get that. You don't like FaceID? strange, weird, super easy to use. What a shame, what a disaster to just look at your phone to unlock it. You could get an iPhone SE, that has a Touch ID. Each to their own I guess.

I don’t want to start over again with the masks topic, I’ll just say you cannot use Face ID with a mask put on, and the mask is required in many closed public places. And I don’t have an Apple Watch, and I don’t plan on getting one.

After giving up on waiting for the flagship model to come with Touch ID last year, I bought myself an SE 2020.

Have since realised that it’s more than good enough for me. Even if the 12S / 13 does pack a punch with new features, I’ve lost the desire to chase after the latest and greatest, especially when the price is so high.

Regardless of what they put out, I will upgrade nonetheless, as part of my 2-year upgrade cycle. Getting bored of the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Hmmm might do the same myself, coming from the 11 pro. I think I'll try the pro max 512.
Still not sure the iphone being faster and having a better camera is enough tho.
We'll see. I didn't upgrade to the 12 because people are having problems losing their playlists.
I guess I could buy the new iPhone and send it back if it wipes out my playlists.

Not entirely sure if I go for this years’ iPhone or next year’s portless one. I want to know how portless Apple can go. 100% wireless and good bye for connecting to any computer, or still can connect to computer somehow. Or Apple has figured out delivering 20W charging through charging pad?

As for this year, all I care really is the camera and nothing else. I want iPhone to take decent photos under mid to low light conditions (poorly lit areas, in the dawn/twilight etc). Also the ability to properly take pictures of small font texts from a distance and still retain its contents properly. Live text you know.
damn, that's right! Maybe thats why I should buy this years? I use my iPhone for music at events
and with keyboards. The portLess Iphone will be a no go for me, at least in the near term.
