The problem is that the last two iPhone events where in front of a 2000+ audience and the new theatre only holds about 1000. Remember the plans for this campus were presented in 2011 (by Jobs), six years later the iPhone has become big enough that the 1000 seats don't suffice anymore.Apple Park. I like it. I'm guessing iPhone 8 announcement will be the first event they hold there.
I think you mean unapologetically late. It's gorgeously late.
Thought they'd name it "Westworld."
No wonder prices on Apple products keep going up: Apple needs to pay for the Spaceship somehow.
2012 MacBook Pro 15" Retina (256 GB) at launch: $2199
2016 MacBook Pro 15" Retina (256 GB) at launch: $2399
This is despite the fact that the cost of technology has gone significantly.
For example, SSD now costs less then 1/6 of what it did in 2012.
That price is about right if you factor in inflation, and that doesn't take into account R&D.

I'd be more impressed if they concentrated on 'building new great desktop hardware' rather than fancy buildings.
*Maury Voice*Apple Park makes a lot of sense. A park - well, what do you do in a park? You stroll at a slow pace. Slow pace. That's the pace of innovation we're seeing from Apple. Full circle, pun intended.
I disagree -- the theatre is the perfect building to name after him. That is where people knew him from; his presence came alive there.Apple Park..... I like it.
But just the theatre being named after Steve? I mean I wouldn't know how to name the main building but surely there should be more to commemorate one of the founders

"... the campus will run entirely on renewable energy."
I thought they will have a (natural gas) power station on site and - to cite SJ - use the grid as a backup.
At least that was the case when SJ presented the campus a few years ago.
Even with solar panels on the roof, a natural gas power plant is not what I consider "renewable energy".
I would love to know the true cost of R&D for certain products, considering how often people use it as justification for inclusion within price rise debates.
I would imagine they must have altered the plan. That is actually one thing - aside from the aesthetics - that impresses me the most. It's a massive building with zero emissions. That's amazing.

Apple park looks just like Cortana, 'good for later" thanks Apl.
'Be the home of innovation for generations to come'..LOL really Apl?
