The problem is that the last two iPhone events where in front of a 2000+ audience and the new theatre only holds about a 1000. Remember the plans for this campus were presented in 2011 (by Jobs), six years later the iPhone has become big enough that the 1000 seats don't suffice anymore.

It's not a problem. You always want to hold major events away from your main site, for security reasons-- specifically, you want to control the likelihood of random press talking to random engineers. Major public events will still be held elsewhere.

No wonder prices on Apple products keep going up: Apple needs to pay for the Spaceship somehow.

2012 MacBook Pro 15" Retina (256 GB) at launch: $2199

2016 MacBook Pro 15" Retina (256 GB) at launch: $2399

This is despite the fact that the cost of technology has gone significantly.

For example, SSD now costs less then 1/6 of what it did in 2012.

Lol, no.
The SSDs in the late 2016 MacBook Pros are literally the fastest ever produced, also (obviously) they are currently the most expensive SSDs on the market.
They are certainly not 1/6 the cost of the SSDs used in the 2012 MBP.
It's clear you're desperate for something to moan about- but this is a STRETCH.
Sorry.

Edit:
They were 1/6 the speed @ 500mb/s vs. the current 3gb/s; maybe that's what you meant?

Apple Park..... I like it.

But just the theatre being named after Steve? I mean I wouldn't know how to name the main building but surely there should be more to commemorate one of the founders

Founder, heck, savior. Apple was literally months away from death before Jobs was invited back with his NeXTSTEP. Without the iPhone there would be no need for this building. Not to mention he pretty much designed this building down to the screws.

That said we don't know if he made a specific request to not have the building named after him. His wife seems to be have been brought in so if she isn't bent by it then what say to any of us have? As arrogant as Jobs was he wanted Apple and it's products to be the story, not him. He rarely did PR events unlike Cook. Will be interesting to see if the building is named at the ribbon cutting. Will Woz get a room?

Yep, you'd hope that people commenting on a tech site would know this, seeing as the information is readily available. Just compare the prices between the 1TB Samsung 850 EVO and the 1TB Samsung 960 Pro NVMe. Two completely different animals.

Apple held many press events in the smallish theatre at its Infinite Loop campus. Note how the Steve Jobs Theatre is located at a clear distance to the main building. And the new campus will have a visitor's centre (!) and an Apple Store.

If you really believe the Steve Jobs Theatre won't be used for major press events, put your money where your mouth is and put a bet on it.

"The workspaces and parklands are designed to inspire our team as well as benefit the environment.
Yep for IOS devices, but for the Macbook, Macbook Pro, Macbook Air Mac Pro the desire seems to have dropped off. BUT once you get in your new space ship Tim, Maybe just maybe the atmosphere will change and more DEVOTION will be shown.

One can hope

I do like, and applaud, Apple for replacing asphalt with nature. Plus I commend them for using local flora instead of non-native ornamental trees and shrubs. I would like to see more companies think about ways of replacing unnecessary asphalt/cement with nature. It would do a lot of good both for habitat loss but also reducing the effect (even if just a little) of development and city weather effect.

^^^Understood.

But it is a not-so-simple equation. (And I am, like most, sticker-shocked by the MBPs as well.)

Note that Apple makes most of its income (for now) on hardware (+AppleCare).

The 30% tax from purchases off the App Store and iTunes does help, but due to the longevity of all Apple hardware, they must keep prices high to factor increasing research and development (and other wasteful) costs.

It is what it is. [Or, simply, go elsewhere, is their message.]

Anyone know what they'll be doing with 1 Infinite Loop? Always wanted to visit for a photo and hope they won't tear it down.

Apple Park makes a lot of sense. A park - well, what do you do in a park? You stroll at a slow pace. Slow pace. That's the pace of innovation we're seeing from Apple. Full circle, pun intended.
Nah
Your scenario doesn't hold water.
Some parks also have run trails, for instance Central Park.
Parks are not only for 'slow pace".
Nice try though at negativity.

They have lots of people in other leased buildings - I am sure they will move them into the loop. They've just redone the Apple Store there too so I am sure they are keeping it. They own it after all.

I disagree actually. Steve really thrived on stage and loved explaining their products and vision. I think Steve Jobs Theater is a brilliant homage.

Yup lovely quote's like...

"(about the iPhone) And boy, have we patented it!"
Steve Jobs, 2007.

So humble. Great vision LOL

Oh man ,that was soooo freaking long ago in tech.
