The AVP has at least shipped (it will in a few days anyway)..
I'll believe an Apple car when I see it. And even then, not necessarily.
Apple Car won't have a windshield. It'll be like a tank. You'll need Vision Pro to drive it.
If the car isn't too expensive, I would actually consider it alongside Tesla for my next vehicle.
I don't know the numbers but everybody is now saying EVs are getting scaled back because the overall tech just isn't ready (charging or what not) so owners are having a miserable experience. So the market might actually get less saturated for a while before going back up again.
do you know the current market? GM, Ford are focussing on high-end only at this time, and so is every other "traditional" manufacturer (Mercedes, BMW ...), the only affordable ones are the Chinese ones with a couple exceptions (there is 1 Volvo) ... do a little research ...
I wish Apple would really "think different" when it comes to its EV design. Like, how about a truly "personal" small-sized smart vehicle priced so that a household could buy 2 of them instead of one gigantic SUV.
If apple had followed Google's approach with Waymo maybe they could have gotten to level 4 or level 5 by 2026/2028. They haven't focused on the AI which is hurting their ambitious plans.

In all likelihood, the wiper blades and cabin filters will need to be replaced with genuine Apple replacement parts. Otherwise, error messages abound.

Owning a car in NYC is mostly silly. Depending where of course.
So Apple is going to develop a fully autonomous vehicle that when not in use can operate on its own as a robotaxis.
Sound system will be either a bunch of Home Pods or maybe an iPod Hi-Fi.
The problem with that is it's a very small market due to such vehicle not really suited to hauling groups of people / groceries / etc. around.
Now to really think different, make them modular so 2 or 3 could be connected with 1 driver and the rest just cargo and propulsion linked to the main unit. More like 2 small personal vehicles with a trailer / third row seat.
Just make a good car. No need to reinvent anything, just make all the parts users interact with be better designed and well thought out and they'll be ahead of 90% of the market in terms of user satisfaction. Easier said than done, of course.
